BACKGROUND Field of the InventionThe present invention relates to a portable vaporizer used to vaporize the active ingredients of plant material, commonly cannabis, tobacco, or other herbs or blends for the purpose of inhalation. The invention is substitutable for a conventional portable vaporizer, which will provide a unique syringe connector for further convenience, comfort, and satisfaction for the user without compromising the functionality of the portable vaporizer.
Description of the Related ArtA vaporizer is an inhalation device used to release the active substances of organic or in organic materials in a form of vapor through the application of heat. Vaporizing, defined in this context as the act of using a vaporizer, should not be confused with smoking. Vaporizers use a heating source to release the active ingredients for therapeutic or recreation purposes, but the temperatures do not reach the burning or combustion point of the vaporizing material.
Smoking, on the other hand, involves the slow burning of the botanicals, giving off smoke instead of aromatic vapors. This means there is a higher degree of chemical reaction involved in smoking, releasing toxic byproducts, which may be harmful to the human body. And this fact is that major reason why vaporizers were introduced as a healthy alternative to smoking. In other words, vaporizing achieves the same desired therapeutic effects because of the active ingredients released as vapor, but without the harmful ingredients found in smoke.
By looking at prior art, multiple advancements have been seen in vape pens. For instance, a U.S. Pat. No. 2,014,0041655A1 discusses portable vaporizers. The portable vaporizer includes a power module, a vaporization chamber, and a mouthpiece. The vaporization chamber includes a vaporization tank, which includes a tube, a tank base, a heating element contained within the tube, a vaporization basket for holding vaporization materials, and a cylindrical space between the herb basket and the tube. When the heating element is activated, the air in the cylindrical space between the vaporization basket and the tube is heated and causes the materials in the basket to vaporize.
A U.S. Pat. No. 9,155,848B2 discusses the method and system for the vaporization of a substance. The assembly discusses an apparatus for the vaporization of materials that release active constituents for inhalation without the creation of harmful byproducts such as carcinogens associated with the combustion and inhalation of substances. The apparatus is designed to fit ergonomically within the user's hand. The apparatus uses the user's inhalation process for air flow.
U.S. Pat. No. 7,726,320B2 discusses tobacco-containing smoking article. The smoking article may include a cigarette incorporated within an electrically powered aerosol generating device that acts as a holder for that cigarette. The smoking article possesses at least one form of tobacco. The smoking article also possesses a mouth-end piece that is used by the smoker to inhale components of tobacco that are generated by the action of heat upon components of the cigarette. A representative smoking article possesses an outer housing incorporating a source of electrical power (e.g., a battery), a sensing mechanism for powering the device at least during periods of draw, and a heating device (e.g., at least one electrical resistance heating element) for forming a thermally generated aerosol that incorporates components of tobacco. During use, the cigarette is positioned within the device, and after use, the used cigarette is removed from the device and replaced with another cigarette.
A U.S. Pat. No. 2,011,0277780A1 discusses personal vaporizing inhaler with mouthpiece cover. The personal vapor inhaling unit is disclosed. An electronic flameless vapor inhaler unit that may simulate a cigarette has a cavity that receives a cartridge in the distal end of the inhaler unit. The cartridge brings a substance to be vaporized in contact with a wick. When the unit is activated, and the user provides suction, the substance to be vaporized is drawn out of the cartridge, through the wick, and is atomized by the wick into a cavity containing a heating element. The heating element vaporizes the atomized substance. The vapors then continue to be pulled by the user through a mouthpiece and mouthpiece cover where they may be inhaled.
A U.S. Pat. No. 2,013,0152922A1 discusses Portable Pen Sized Electric Herb Vaporizer with Ceramic Heating Chamber. The portable pen sized electric herb vaporizer with ceramic heating chamber is an elongated and cylindrical device used to vaporize the active ingredient of or burn herbs, having a battery, a heating compartment, a chamber connector, and a mouthpiece. Two threaded screw interfaces attach the battery to the heating compartment and the heating compartment to the chamber connector. The mouthpiece holds a ceramic filter and is inserted into the chamber connector. The heating compartment has a ceramic heating chamber within which herbs are placed, and a heating coil connected to the battery within the ceramic heating chamber heats the herbs. The user presses an activator button and inhales through the mouthpiece, drawing heated air over the herbs, through the chamber connector and into the user's lungs. The chamber connector has a disk filter to catch ash and a spring that presses on the herbs for efficient vaporization.
A U.S. Pat. No. 9,282,772B2 discusses electronic vaping device. The electronic smoking article includes a liquid supply including liquid material, a heater operable to heat the liquid material to a temperature sufficient to vaporize the liquid material and form an aerosol, a wick in communication with the liquid material and in communication with the heater such that the wick delivers the liquid material to the heater, at least one air inlet operable to deliver air to a central air passage upstream of the heater, and a mouth end insert having at least two diverging outlets.
A U.S. Pat. No. 2,016,0270451A1 discusses electronic cigarette. The electronic cigarette comprises nicotine without harmful tar. The cigarette includes a shell, a cell, nicotine solution, control circuit, and an electro-thermal vaporization nozzle installed in the air suction end of the shell. The advantages of the present invention are smoking without tar, reducing the risk of cancer, the user still gets a smoking experience, the cigarette is not lit, and there is no fire danger.
A hygienic mouthpiece cover bearing U.S. Pat. No. 2,019,068617 that is easily removed between sampling by users and is made from a recyclable biocompatible material is provided. Example embodiments of a mouthpiece cover includes an inlet, into which a vaporizer cartridge can be inserted, an outlet that a user draws vapor from, and a saliva transfer inhibitor that includes a guard physical barrier between the outlet and inlet to prevent saliva transfer to the cartridge, a saliva reservoir, and one or more draw holes of a number and size that vapor can pass through unrestricted.

In 2015, about 15 of every 100 U.S. adults aged 18 years or older (15.1%) smoked cigarettes. This means an estimated 36.5 million adults in the United States currently smoke cigarettes. More than 16 million Americans live with a smoking-related disease. There's no reasonable line of argument that can lead to any other conclusion: smoking kills lots of people, around 50 percent of its long-term users. But with all that said, people love to smoke.
Vaporizers have been around in various forms since the 1960s, though, in that era the sets were more of the tabletop variety and not very pocketable. Chinese pharmacist Han Lik is largely credited as the modern vaporizer's inventor (also called “e-cigarettes”), apparently finding the inspiration after his father died from cancer. The device, then known as Ruyan (means “like smoke”) was a hit in his homeland, so naturally it made its way to the US in the mid 2000s.
“Vaping”—the common term for using a vaporizer—is simply applying heat to a liquid which creates vapor. Breathing in the nearly-odorless vapor gives the smoker their nicotine hit. While the most common e-cigarettes look like traditional smokes and are often sold in ciggy-like packaging, the market is overflowing with variety. In the earlier times of the vaping world, vaporizers were classified according to their design. Now, we also factor in their basic functions as our lifestyles evolve in time. Here are the three major types of vaporizers:
Vaporizer Pens are, pen-style vaporizers emulate the form and style of a typical official pen to make them look more discreet and at the same time, mimic the shape of cigarettes. The vape pen is technically a portable device but is specially classified into an entirely separate category because of its extreme popularity despite its simple design.
Almost all pens come in three major parts: the battery, heating chamber and the mouthpiece, which are all screwed together to form a single vaporizing device. In a typical model, the single power button serves as the on and off switch. So, there is no control for temperature adjustments, and the vaporizer simply heats up the moment you turn the power on. The only way you can adjust your desired vapor density is by learning the perfect rhythm of pressing the power button on and off. Most vape pens use the conduction principle to vaporize the dry herbs or concentrates.
A vaporizer pen is further classified into dry herb vaporizer, oil and wax vaporizer or an all-in-one device that can support any type of material.
Portable Vaporizers function as compact, lightweight, and rechargeable devices for on-the-go users. Technically, portable vaporizers also include vape pens. But in the vaporizing world, pens are given a distinct identity because of their immense popularity.
Desktop Vaporizers are named after their primary form and function, coming in larger designs and with it, larger material capacity, more powerful heating system and the addition of internal fans (for forced-air models). Because desktop vaporizers require more power to operate, they need to be constantly plugged to a power source. Some desktop vaporizers come as forced-air models, which push vapors out of the chamber using an internal fan. This makes it possible for users to inflate a ‘balloon’ to carry with them away from the vapor source.
The present invention relates to an electronic vaporizing apparatus that is portable and has a unique syringe connector to inject the flavor in the pen.
In another embodiment, the invention relates to an apparatus where the attachment is comprised of a steel disc that acts as a protective lid. This disc has a center depression fitted for a hollow borosilicate cylindrical mouthpiece. The top disc is threaded along the bottom to create a secure, airtight seal within the chamber.
In another embodiment of the invention, there are small holes bored through the centermost point of the top disc to allow air to flow through borosilicate mouthpiece. A lip along the bottom portion of the disc extends downward and is fitted using loops of elastomer with a round cross-section seated in grooves to ensure an airtight seal for the next component, a quartz basin.
In another embodiment, the basin is the receptacle for the product intended to be vaporized. The quartz basin is a solid cylindrical cup shape with two small holes positioned on opposite sidewalls of the cup.
The top disc attaches to a steel sleeve via machine threading to create an enclosure for the quartz basin and heating element. The steel sleeve has a glass inner lining to accommodate a V shaped viewing window wherein the user is able to see the quartz cup while it is enclosed in the sleeve.
In a further embodiment of the invention the lower portion of the steel sleeve secures to a steel base comprised of an adjustable steel ring which is slotted on opposing sides to introduce oxygen into the chamber from the base and create a path for air to flow upward during inhalation as the material is vaporized. The base attaches to the steel sleeve through three loops of elastomer with a round cross-section seated in grooves to maintain stability and an airtight seal within the chamber. The base houses a heating element comprised of a disc shaped ceramic plate to transfer heat through the surface of the ceramic disc to vaporize the material within the quartz basin through direct contact with the quartz without exposing the material to the heating element.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the components within the heating elements consist of a thick gauge heating/vaping wire shaped to a flat stove top coil. This heating wire coil is encased in a hardened ceramic outer layer. This careful layout of the wire is designed to maximize the heating area of the ceramic surface. The center of the base houses a copper 510 pin connection creating a path for the electrical current to travel from the power source via a 510-thread connection through the base into the heating element.
While a specific embodiment has been shown and described, many variations are possible. With time, additional features may be employed. The particular shape or configuration of the platform or the interior configuration may be changed to suit the system or equipment with which it is used.
