HAIR EXTENSION SYSTEM

A hair extension system includes two rectangular sections, one having protrusions and the other cavities, disposed along a longitudinal axis of the rectangular sections. Natural or synthetic hair strands cab be attached to the two rectangular sections and a person's hair is sandwiched between the rectangular sections. The two rectangular sections can be releasably coupled with one another when the protrusions are pressed into the cavities, thereby extending the person's hair by the length of the hair strands.

FIELD OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to a hair extension system. The system comprises two rectangular sections that include protrusions and cavities disposed along a longitudinal axis of the rectangular sections. Natural and synthetic hair strands are attached to the two rectangular sections and a person's hair is sandwiched between them. The two rectangular sections can be releasably coupled with one another when the protrusions are pressed into the cavities.

BACKGROUND

Conventional hair extension systems are made up of multiple components which make them difficult to apply. Furthermore, having multiple components make them expensive to manufacture. Therefore, there is a need for a hair extension system that is made up of only two rectangular sections that can be easily applied to a person's hair.

SUMMARY

In one aspect, a hair extension system is disclosed wherein the system comprises a first rectangular section, comprising a plurality of protrusions disposed along a longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section, a first plurality of holes disposed along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section, and first hair strands secured via a first strap, wherein the first hair strands are attached to the first plurality of holes, a second rectangular section, comprising a plurality of cavities disposed along a longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section, a second plurality of holes disposed along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section, and second hair strands secured via a second strap, wherein the second hair strands are attached to the second plurality of holes, wherein a person's hair is slidably placed between the first rectangular section and the second rectangular section, and wherein the first rectangular section is releasably coupled with the second rectangular section when the plurality of protrusions is pressed into the plurality of cavities.

Preferably, at least one of the first rectangular section and the second rectangular section is made from polymer.

Preferably, the polymer is polyethylene.

Preferably, the plurality of protrusions comprises two rows of cylindrical protrusions, and wherein the plurality of cavities comprises two rows of cylindrical cavities.

Preferably, each row of the cylindrical protrusions comprises eight cylindrical protrusions disposed equidistantly along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section, and each row of the cylindrical cavities comprises eight cylindrical cavities disposed equidistantly along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section.

Preferably, the first hair strands are attached to the first plurality of holes by stitching the first strap to the first plurality of holes.

Preferably, the second hair strands are attached to the second plurality of holes by stitching the second strap to the second plurality of holes.

Preferably, the first hair strands are made from one of natural and synthetic hair.

Preferably, the second hair strands are made from one of natural and synthetic hair.

Preferably, the plurality of protrusions forms a press fit with the plurality of cavities when the plurality of protrusions is pressed into the plurality of cavities.

In another aspect, a method of extending a person's hair is disclosed wherein the method comprises providing a first rectangular section, comprising a plurality of protrusions disposed along a longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section, a first plurality of holes disposed along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section, and first hair strands secured via a first strap, wherein the first hair strands are attached to the first plurality of holes, providing a second rectangular section, comprising a plurality of cavities disposed along a longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section, a second plurality of holes disposed along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section, and second hair strands secured via a second strap, wherein the second hair strands are attached to the second plurality of holes, slidably placing a person's hair between the first rectangular section and the second rectangular section, and releasably coupling the first rectangular section with the second rectangular section by pressing the plurality of protrusions into the plurality of cavities.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1A shows a perspective view of a hair extension system applied to a person's hair according to a preferred embodiment. The person's hair is sandwiched between two rectangular sections of the hair extension system when the protrusions of one of the rectangular sections are pressed into the cavities of the other rectangular section.

FIG. 1B shows a perspective view of the hair extension system which includes a first rectangular section with protrusions and a second rectangular section with cavities. Each of the two rectangular sections include hair strands attached to a plurality of holes. A person's hair is slidably placed between the two rectangular sections which are then releasably coupled with one another when the protrusions are pressed into the cavities.

FIG. 2A shows a perspective view of a first rectangular section with protrusions of a hair extension system according to a preferred embodiment. In this embodiment, the first rectangular section comprises two rows of protrusions each row having eight protrusions. The first rectangular section also includes a plurality of holes where hair strands may be attached to the first rectangular section.

FIG. 2B shows a perspective view of a second rectangular section with cavities of a hair extension system according to a preferred embodiment. In this embodiment, the second rectangular section comprises two rows of cavities each row having eight cavities. The second rectangular section also includes a plurality of holes where hair strands may be attached to the second rectangular section.

FIG. 2C shows a perspective view of the first rectangular section shown in FIG. 2A, where hair strands are shown to be secured via a first strap and attached to the plurality of holes by stitching.

FIG. 2D shows a perspective view of the second rectangular section shown in FIG. 2B, where hair strands are shown to be secured via a second strap and attached to the plurality of holes by stitching.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENTLY PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

FIG. 1A depicts a perspective view of a hair extension system 100 applied to a person's hair 122 according to a preferred embodiment. The person's hair 122 is sandwiched between a first rectangular section 102 and a second rectangular section 112 of the hair extension system 100 when a plurality of protrusions (see FIGS. 1B, 2A, and 2C) of the first rectangular section 102 are pressed into a plurality of cavities of the second rectangular section 112. The first rectangular section 102 comprises a plurality of protrusions 104 along a longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section 102 (see FIG. 1B). The first rectangular section 102 further comprises a first plurality of holes 106 along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section 102 (see FIG. 1B). First hair strands 108 are secured via a first strap 110 (see FIG. 1B) wherein the first hair strands 108 are attached to the first plurality of holes 106. The second rectangular section 112 comprises a plurality of cavities 114 along a longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section 112 (see FIG. 1B). The second rectangular section 112 further comprises a second plurality of holes 116 along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section 112 (see FIG. 1B). Second hair strands 118 are secured via a second strap 120 (see FIG. 1B) wherein the second hair strands 118 are attached to the second plurality of holes 116. The person's hair 122 is slidably placed between the first rectangular section 102 and the second rectangular section 112, and the first rectangular section 102 is releasably coupled with the second rectangular section 112 when the plurality of protrusions 104 is pressed into the plurality of cavities 114.

FIG. 1B depicts a perspective view of the hair extension system 100 which includes the first rectangular section 102 with protrusions 104 and the second rectangular section 112 with cavities 114. Each of the two rectangular sections 102 and 114 include hair strands, 108 and 118, respectively, which are attached to the plurality of holes 106 and 116, respectively. The person's hair 122 is slidably placed between the two rectangular sections 102 and 112 which are then releasably coupled with one another when the protrusions 104 are pressed into the cavities 114. According to this preferred embodiment, at least one of the first rectangular section 102 and the second rectangular section 112 is made from polymer, preferably from polyethylene. Hard and soft plastics, including silicones, are examples of materials that can be used to make the first rectangular section 102 and the second rectangular section 112.

FIG. 2A depicts a perspective view of a first rectangular section 202 with protrusions 204 of a hair extension system according to a preferred embodiment. In this embodiment, the first rectangular section 202 comprises two rows of protrusions 204 each row having eight protrusions. The first rectangular section 202 also includes a plurality of holes 206 where hair strands (not shown) may be attached to the first rectangular section 202. According to this preferred embodiment, the plurality of protrusions comprises two rows of cylindrical protrusions 204. Furthermore, the two rows of cylindrical protrusions 204 comprises eight cylindrical protrusions which are disposed equidistantly along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section 202.

FIG. 2B depicts a perspective view of a second rectangular section 212 with cavities 214 of a hair extension system according to a preferred embodiment. In this embodiment, the second rectangular section 212 comprises two rows of cavities 214 each row having eight cavities. The second rectangular section 212 also includes a plurality of holes 216 where hair strands (not shown) may be attached to the second rectangular section 212. According to this preferred embodiment, the plurality of cavities comprises two rows of cylindrical cavities 214. Furthermore, the two rows of cylindrical cavities 214 comprises eight cylindrical cavities which are disposed equidistantly along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section 212.

FIG. 2C depicts a perspective view of the first rectangular section 202 shown in FIG. 2A, where first hair strands 208 are shown to be secured via a first strap 210 and attached to the plurality of holes 206 by stitching 222. The first hair strands 208 can be made from natural hair or synthetic hair. The first strap 210 can be made from different materials such as fabric, nylon, or leather.

FIG. 2D depicts a perspective view of the second rectangular section 212 shown in FIG. 2B, where second hair strands 218 are shown to be secured via a second strap 220 and attached to the plurality of holes 216 by stitching 224. The second hair strands 218 can be made from natural hair or synthetic hair. The second strap 220 can be made from different materials such as fabric, nylon, or leather.

The hair extension system, depicted in FIGS. 1A through 2D, can be applied to the person's hair 122 to extend by the length of the person's hair 122 by the first hair strands 108 or 208 and the second hair strands 118 or 218. According to a preferred embodiment (FIGS. 2A-2D) the plurality of protrusions 204 forms a press fit with the plurality of cavities 214 when the plurality of protrusions 204 is pressed into the plurality of cavities 214.

It is the following claims, including all equivalents, which are intended to define the scope of this invention.

Claims

1. A hair extension system, comprising:

(a) a first rectangular section, comprising:
(i) a plurality of protrusions disposed along a longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section;
(ii) a first plurality of holes disposed along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section; and
(iii) first hair strands secured via a first strap, wherein the first hair strands are attached to the first plurality of holes;
(b) a second rectangular section, comprising:
(i) a plurality of cavities disposed along a longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section;
(ii) a second plurality of holes disposed along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section; and
(iii) second hair strands secured via a second strap, wherein the second hair strands are attached to the second plurality of holes;
wherein a person's hair is slidably placed between the first rectangular section and the second rectangular section; and
wherein the first rectangular section is releasably coupled with the second rectangular section when the plurality of protrusions is pressed into the plurality of cavities.

2. The hair extension system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first rectangular section and the second rectangular section is made from polymer.

3. The hair extension system of claim 2, wherein the polymer is polyethylene.

4. The hair extension system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of protrusions comprises two rows of cylindrical protrusions, and wherein the plurality of cavities comprises two rows of cylindrical cavities.

5. The hair extension system of claim 4, wherein each row of the cylindrical protrusions comprises eight cylindrical protrusions disposed equidistantly along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section, and each row of the cylindrical cavities comprises eight cylindrical cavities disposed equidistantly along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section.

6. The hair extension system of claim 1, wherein the first hair strands are attached to the first plurality of holes by stitching the first strap to the first plurality of holes.

7. The hair extension system of claim 1, wherein the second hair strands are attached to the second plurality of holes by stitching the second strap to the second plurality of holes.

8. The hair extension system of claim 1, wherein the first hair strands are made from one of natural and synthetic hair.

9. The hair extension system of claim 1, wherein the second hair strands are made from one of natural and synthetic hair.

10. The hair extension system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of protrusions forms a press fit with the plurality of cavities when the plurality of protrusions is pressed into the plurality of cavities.

11. A method of extending a person's hair, comprising:

(a) providing a first rectangular section, comprising:
(i) a plurality of protrusions disposed along a longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section;
(ii) a first plurality of holes disposed along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section; and
(iii) first hair strands secured via a first strap, wherein the first hair strands are attached to the first plurality of holes;
(b) providing a second rectangular section, comprising:
(i) a plurality of cavities disposed along a longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section;
(ii) a second plurality of holes disposed along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section; and
(iii) second hair strands secured via a second strap, wherein the second hair strands are attached to the second plurality of holes;
(c) slidably placing a person's hair between the first rectangular section and the second rectangular section; and
(d) releasably coupling the first rectangular section with the second rectangular section by pressing the plurality of protrusions into the plurality of cavities.

12. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 11, wherein at least one of the first rectangular section and the second rectangular section is made from polymer.

13. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 12, wherein the polymer is polyethylene.

14. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 11, wherein the plurality of protrusions comprises two rows of cylindrical protrusions, and wherein the plurality of cavities comprises two rows of cylindrical cavities.

15. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 14, wherein each row of the cylindrical protrusions comprises eight cylindrical protrusions disposed equidistantly along the longitudinal axis of the first rectangular section, and each row of the cylindrical cavities comprises eight cylindrical cavities disposed equidistantly along the longitudinal axis of the second rectangular section.

16. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 11, wherein the first hair strands are attached to the first plurality of holes by stitching the first strap to the first plurality of holes.

17. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 11, wherein the second hair strands are attached to the second plurality of holes by stitching the second strap to the second plurality of holes.

18. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 11, wherein the first hair strands are made from one of natural and synthetic hair.

19. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 11, wherein the second hair strands are made from one of natural and synthetic hair.

20. The method of extending a person's hair of claim 11, wherein the plurality of protrusions forms a press fit with the plurality of cavities when the plurality of protrusions is pressed into the plurality of cavities.
