PHOTO MAT SYSTEM
A photo mat system and pocket configured to hold pictures securely in place. The pocket is placed on the back of the photo frame in order to allow the photo to be displayed while also allowing for easy adjustment and replacement.
The present disclosure relates to a photo mat technology that improves upon the way photos are placed and held behind photo frames.
BACKGROUNDEven in today's digital age, people still like taking physical photos and displaying them in picture frames. Picture frames for displaying pictures on two-dimensional lamina such as photographs, paintings and other scenes are widely available in differing frame materials and mat finishes. The completed frames may be fashioned by professions or assembled. The picture frame mounting poses a greater difficulty for mounting. Previous attempts at mixed media presentations of pictures and objects has required professional assistance to properly integrate the desired display content into a picture frame of choice. Such an approach is limitedly available, time consuming, and costly.
Many users of photo frames have difficulty keeping photos behind the frame in place and even once they are inserted into the frame the frame does not allow for the user to easily adjust the photo.
SUMMARYIn light of the foregoing background, the following presents a simplified summary of the present disclosure in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of said disclosure. This summary is not an extensive overview of the disclosure. It is not intended to identify key or critical elements of the disclosure or to delineate the scope of the disclosure. The following summary merely presents some concepts of the disclosure in a simplified form as to prelude to the more detailed description provided below.
Aspects of the present disclosure provides a photo mat system including a photo mat with a presentation opening and the photo mat for being mounted in a frame. A pocket can be positioned behind the presentation opening in the frame and is attached to the back of the photo mat. The pocket has three enclosed sides folded in along the perforated lines; and a non-horizontal cut at the top to allow a sheet material photo to be easily inserted therein and removed, but still providing enough support for the photo to remain in place.
In a further aspect, a photo mat system includes the non-horizontal cut further comprising a V-shape cut.
In a further aspect of the photo mat system, the pocket may further include a paper sheet material.
In a further aspect of the photo mat system, the pocket may further include a 100% cotton fiber paper sheet material.
In a further aspect of the photo mat system, the pocket may further include a further cotton fibers and cellulose paper sheet material.
In a further aspect of the photo mat system, the pocket may further include a further a high alpha cellulose paper sheet material.
In a further aspect of the photo mat system, the pocket may further include a plastic sheet material.
Aspects of the present disclosure provides a photo mat system including a photo mat with a presentation opening and the photo mat for being mounted in a frame. A pocket can be positioned behind the presentation opening in the frame and is attached to a back of the photo mat. The pocket has three enclosed sides are folded in along the hinge lines; and a non-horizontal cut at the top to allow a sheet material photo to be inserted therein and removed, but still providing enough support for the photo to remain in place.
The present disclosure provides an easy to install photo system to allow the user to simply slide their photo in, easily adjust the position of the photo to the desired placement, and ensures that the photo is properly secured behind the frame.
The dimensions of the envelope will vary and adapt in accordance with the size of the cut out on the photo frame. A further aspect of the present disclosure provides a photo mat system including a presentation opening and the photo mat for being mounted in a frame; a pocket that is positioned behind the presentation opening in the frame and is attached to a back of the photo mat and the pocket having three enclosed sides that are folded in along a plurality of hinge lines; and a non-horizontal cut at the top to allow a sheet material photo to be inserted therein and removed and still providing enough support for a photo sheet to remain in place.
Aspects of the present disclosure include a pocket comprised of a pocket that is positioned behind the frame and is attached to the front of the mat.
Aspects of the present disclosure include a pocket comprises three sides that are folded in along the perforated lines.
Aspects of the present disclosure include a pocket that may be designed with a V-shape cut at the top to allow the photo to be easily inserted and removed, while still providing enough support for the photo to remain in place.
Aspects of the present disclosure include a pocket that may be designed with a wavy-style cut at the top to allow the photo to be easily inserted with finger openings and removed and still provide enough support for the photo to remain in place.
The foregoing and other features and advantages will be apparent from the following more particular description of exemplary embodiments of the disclosure, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which like references characters refer to the same parts through the different views. The drawings are not necessarily to scale, with emphasis instead being placed upon the principles of the disclosure.
The accompanying drawings, which form a part hereof, show examples of the disclosure. It is to be understood that the examples shown in the drawings and/or discussed herein are non-exclusive and that there are other examples of how the disclosure may be practiced.
The photo mat system 100 of the present disclosure improves upon the way photos are placed and held behind photo frames. Many times, the photo mat that is used to keep the picture in place behind the frame does not allow for the user to easily position, place, and center the photo. Also, the photo does not stay secure, as many times it will fall out of place and slips around.

The photo mat pocket 110 can be provided in a sheet material in a number of different constructions acidic, and acid-free (neutral pH) paper constructions. There are several categories of photo mat pocket 110 sheet material that can be used such as a museum board constructed of 100% cotton fiber. In another photo mat pocket 110 may be made of a rag mat construction of cotton linters (short cotton fibers) and cellulose wood pulp middles. In another construction, photo mat pocket 110 may be an archival mat board construction of 100% pure high alpha cellulose (wood pulp). The photo mat pocket 110 can be provided in a sheet material in a number of different constructions of plastic sheet material. In one example, the plastic sheet material may be a polypropylene plastic. The polypropylene plastic is made by combining propylene monomers. This thermoplastic can be used in numerous different applications of the present disclosure, including the enhanced plastic hinges with the perforated lines 170 shown in
Although the present technology has been described in detail for the purpose of illustration based on what is currently considered to be the most practical and preferred implementations, it is to be understood that such detail is solely for that purpose and that the technology is not limited to the disclosed implementations, but, on the contrary, is intended to cover modifications and equivalent arrangements that are within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. For example, it is to be understood that the present technology contemplates that, to the extent possible, one or more features of any implementation can be combined with one or more features of any other implementation.
