The term “and/or” as used herein is meant to cover any and all combinations of one or more of the relevant listed items.

In the description of the present application, it is to be understood that the terms “center”, “up”, “down”, “front” “back”, “left”, “right”, “vertical”, “horizontal”, “top”, “bottom”, “inside”, “outside”, and other indications of the orientations or positional relationships are based on those shown in the figures and are intended only to facilitate the description of the present disclosure and to simplify the description, and are not intended to indicate or imply that the device or element referred to must have a particular orientation, be constructed and operated in a particular orientation, and therefore are not to be construed as limitations of the present disclosure. In the description of the present application, unless otherwise indicated, “multiple” means two or more.

In the description of the present application, it is to be noted that, unless otherwise expressly specified and limited, the terms “mounted”, “connected”, “coupled” are to be understood in a broad sense. For example, it may be a fixed connection or a detachable connection, or a connection in one piece; it may be a direct connection, an indirect connection through an intermediate medium, or a connection between internal spaces of two elements. For those of ordinary skill in the art, the specific meaning of the above terms in the present disclosure may be understood in accordance with the specific circumstances.

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, an aiming device according to one embodiment of the present application comprises a sight 1 (the first device) and a connection structure. As shown in FIG. 1, the connection structure includes a first connection assembly 2, a quick-clamp assembly 3, and a second connection assembly 4. The first connection assembly 2 is fixed to a bottom of the sight 1. The second connection assembly 4 is fixed to a top of a firearm (the second device). The quick-clamp assembly 3 serves as an intermediate component, with one side configured for detachable connection to the first connection assembly 2 and the other side configured for detachable connection to the second connection assembly 4. In use, after the quick-clamp assembly 3 and the second connection assembly 4 have been assembled, they can remain fixed to the top of the firearm and need not be disassembled each time. Likewise, the first connection assembly 2 can remain assembled with the sight 1 and need not be disassembled each time. Consequently, when mounting the sight 1 to the firearm, it only needs to secure the first connection assembly 2 and the quick-clamp assembly 3 together.

As shown in FIG. 4, the first connection assembly 2 comprises a first connecting member 21 and a first magnetic-attraction portion 22 provided on the first connecting member 21. In the present embodiment, the first connecting member 21 includes a first body portion 211 and a second body portion 212, the width of the first body portion 211 being smaller than the width of the second body portion 212. A recess (not shown) is defined in a surface of the first body portion 211 that faces the quick-clamp assembly 3, the recess being configured to receive the first magnetic-attraction portion 22. The first magnetic-attraction portion 22 may be fixed to the first connecting member 21 by adhesive bonding, fasteners (e.g. bolts), or any other suitable means. The second body portion 212 is provided with two or more countersunk holes spaced apart along a longitudinal direction of the first connecting member 21. The countersunk holes are adapted to receive bolts by which the first connection assembly 2 is fastened to the sight 1. A limiting slot 2122 is defined between the two countersunk holes, the limiting slot 2122 extending in a width direction of the first connecting member 21.

In the illustrated embodiment, the first connecting member 21 is described by way of example as a Picatinny rail. It can be understood that, in other embodiments, the first connecting member 21 may adopt any other configuration. For instance, the first connecting member 21 may be a rail with a dovetail-shaped cross-section.

As shown in FIG. 5, the quick-clamp assembly 3 comprises a fixing seat 32, a first mounting groove 323 defined in the fixing seat 32, a second magnetic-attraction portion 33 disposed in the first mounting groove 323, and a self-illuminating guidance portion 34. The second magnetic-attraction portion 33 is configured to attract the first magnetic-attraction portion 22 so as to fix the first connection assembly 2 in the first mounting groove 323. The self-illuminating guidance portion 34 is used to indicate the position of the first mounting groove 323 by emitting light.

The first mounting groove 323 extends inward from a side wall at one longitudinal end of the fixing seat 32, and is defined along a longitudinal direction of the fixing seat 32, thereby providing a groove structure with one end open. The second magnetic-attraction portion 33 is a structure of cylindrical shape. Near an end of the first mounting groove 323 far from the open end, a second magnetic-attraction mounting groove (not shown) is provided, in which the second magnetic-attraction portion 33 is secured by adhesive bonding or by fasteners. For example, countersunk holes may be defined in the second magnetic-attraction portion 33, allowing the second magnetic-attraction portion 33 and the fixing seat 32 to be threaded together via a bolt. The self-illuminating guidance portion 34 has an annular cross-section and is arranged to surround the second magnetic-attraction portion 33. The self-illuminating guidance portion 34 is made of a fluorescent material, for instance by injection-molding with a mixture of plastic and fluorescent powder. The self-illuminating guidance portion 34 may be fixed to the fixing seat 32 by adhesive or any other suitable means. Being made of fluorescent material, the self-illuminating guidance portion 34 is able to emit light at night or in low-light environments, thereby indicating the approximate location of the first mounting groove 323 and facilitating installation and alignment for users. Manufacturing the self-illuminating guide portion 34 through injection molding with plastic and fluorescent can prolong its service life and improve the uniformity of its emitted light.

The first magnetic-attraction portion 22 is a magnet, and the second magnetic-attraction portion 33 is either a magnet or a ferromagnetic metal. Alternatively, the first magnetic-attraction portion 22 is a magnet or a ferromagnetic metal, and the second magnetic-attraction portion 33 is a magnet. Specifically, as long as the first magnetic-attraction portion 22 and the second magnetic-attraction portion 33 can achieve mutual attraction and fixation, their specific materials and structures are not otherwise limited. For example, the ferromagnetic metal may be cast iron. The second magnetic-attraction portion 33 is configured to attract the first magnetic-attraction portion 22 so as to retain the first connection assembly 2 at a preset position in the first mounting groove 323. This means that when the fixing seat 32 is made of a ferromagnetic metal, the first magnetic-attraction portion 22 can only be a magnet.

The quick-clamp assembly 3 further comprises a first clamping device 31. The first clamping device 31 is a quick-clamp mechanism, which can meet the impact requirements during use of an aiming device and offers excellent stability. The first clamping device 31 comprises a clamping lever 311, a limiting screw 312, a clamping block 313 and an adjusting nut 314. A first mounting hole 321 is provided on each side of the fixing seat 32 along a width direction of the first mounting groove 323. The first mounting holes 321 are used for the limiting screw 312 to pass through. The limiting screw 312 includes a square rod 3121 and a threaded rod (not shown). An outer end of the square rod 3121 projecting beyond the first mounting hole 321, is pivotally connected to one end of the clamping lever 311, while an outer end of the threaded rod projecting beyond the first mounting hole 321, is threadedly engaged with the adjusting nut 314. The clamping block 313 is mounted on the threaded rod in the adjusting nut 314. The limiting slot 2122 of the first connection assembly 2 is dimensioned to receive the square rod 3121. When a free end of the clamping lever 311 is rotated toward the fixing seat 32, it drives the clamping block 313 to move toward the clamping lever 311, thereby clamping the first connection assembly 2 in the first mounting groove 323. A spring member (not shown) may additionally be provided on the clamping block 313. Elastic force of the spring element keeps the clamping block 313 in abutment against the adjusting nut 314. The adjusting nut 314 is used to adjust the tightness of the first clamping device 31.

A retaining slot 324 is defined in a side wall of the first mounting groove 323 that lies adjacent to the clamping lever 311, and the first connection assembly 2 is provided with a corresponding abutment portion 2121. When the abutment portion 2121 is propped against the retaining slot 324, it is used for limiting displacement of the first connection assembly 2 along a direction perpendicular to a bottom surface of the mounting groove 323. In this embodiment, the retaining slot 324 is a V-shaped slot extending from the side wall of the first mounting groove 323 toward the clamping lever 311, and the abutment portion 2121 is a convex structure matched with the V-shaped slot. Upon full insertion of the abutment portion 2121 into the retaining slot 324, clamping the first connecting member 21 by means of the first clamping device 31 securely fastens the first connection assembly 2 to the quick-clamp assembly 3.

To facilitate the entry of the first connecting member 21 into the first mounting groove 323, an inclined guide 322 may also be provided on the fixing seat 32 around a periphery of the second magnetic-attraction portion 33. The inclined guide 322 gradually decreases in height from a side away from the first mounting groove 323 toward a side close to the first mounting groove 323. In other words, the inclined guide 322 is an inclined surface that slopes toward the first mounting groove 323, forming a funnel-like shape. This makes it easier for the first connecting member 21 to enter the first mounting groove 323, thereby improving installation convenience.

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 6, the second connection assembly 4 includes a second connecting member 42 and a second clamping device 41. A second mounting groove 325 is defined in a surface of the fixing seat 32 opposite to the first mounting groove 323. The second mounting groove 325 may be a through groove defined along the longitudinal direction of the fixing seat 32. A second mounting holes 326 is provided on each side of the fixing seat 32 along a width direction of the second mounting groove 325. A structure of the second clamping device 41 is the same as that of the first clamping device 31. Installation relationship among the second connecting member 42, the second clamping device 41, and the second mounting groove 325 is the same as that among the first connecting member 21, the first clamping device 31, and the first mounting groove 323. The second connecting member 42 is provided with through holes or threaded holes. By passing bolts through these through holes or threaded holes, the second connecting member 42 can be secured to a device such as a firearm. This allows the first connection assembly 2, the quick-clamp assembly 3, and the second connection assembly 4 to be secured together, thereby achieving the connection between the sight 1 and the firearm.

Similarly, the second clamping device 41 is a quick-clamp mechanism, which can meet the impact requirements during use of an aiming device and offers excellent stability. The first clamping device 31 comprises a clamping lever 311, a limiting screw 312, a clamping block 313 and an adjusting nut 314. A second mounting hole 326 is provided on each side of the fixing seat 32 along a width direction of the second mounting groove 325. The second mounting holes 326 are used for the limiting screw 312 to pass through. The limiting screw 312 includes a square rod 3121 and a threaded rod (not shown). An outer end of the square rod 3121 projecting beyond the first mounting hole 321, is pivotally connected to one end of the clamping lever 311, while an outer end of the threaded rod projecting beyond the second mounting hole 326, is threadedly engaged with the adjusting nut 314. The clamping block 313 is mounted on the threaded rod in the adjusting nut 314. Limiting slots (not labeled) dimensioned to receive the square rod 3121 are also provided in the second connecting member 42 of the second connection assembly 4. When a free end of the clamping lever 311 is rotated toward the fixing seat 32, it drives the clamping block 313 to move toward the clamping lever 311, thereby clamping the second connection assembly 4 in the second mounting groove 325. A spring member (not shown) may additionally be provided on the clamping block 313. Elastic force of the spring element keeps the clamping block 313 in abutment against the adjusting nut 314. The adjusting nut 314 is used to adjust the tightness of the second clamping device 41.

Similarly, a retaining slot 324 is defined in a side wall of the second mounting groove 325 that lies adjacent the clamping lever 311, and the second connection assembly 4 is provided with a corresponding abutment portion (not labeled). When the abutment portion 2121 is propped against the retaining slot 324, it is used for limiting the displacement of the first connection assembly 2 along a vertical direction of a bottom surface of the second mounting groove 325. In this embodiment, the retaining slot 324 is a V-shaped slot extending from the side wall of the second mounting groove 325 toward the clamping lever 311, and the abutment portion is a convex structure matched with the V-shaped slot. Upon full insertion of the abutment portion into the retaining slot 324, clamping the second connecting member 42 by means of the second clamping device 41 securely fastens the second connection assembly 4 to the quick-clamp assembly 3. The second connecting member 42 may be a Picatinny rail arranged along the longitudinal direction of the fixing seat 32, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. In other embodiments, the second connecting member 42 may also adopt other structures. For example, the second connecting member 42 may also be a rail with a dovetail-shaped cross-section.

The installation process for the connection structure of the present embodiment is as follows. First, the first connection assembly 2 is fixedly connected to the sight 1, and the quick-clamp assembly 3 together with the second connection assembly 4 is fixedly connected to the firearm (not shown). At this time, the sight 1 can still be used independently as a hand-held device. When it is necessary to install the sight 1 onto the firearm, the self-illuminating guidance portion 34 is used to identify by its emitted light the approximate location of the first mounting groove 323. The first connecting member 21 on the bottom of the sight 1 is then aligned with the first mounting groove 323. Under the mutual attraction between the first magnetic-attraction portion 22 and the second magnetic-attraction portion 33, and guided by the inclined guide 322, the first connecting member 21 is quickly inserted into the first mounting groove 323. The limiting slot 2122 of the first connecting member 21 engages the square rod 3121 of the limiting screw 312. Finally, the free end of the clamping lever 311 is pivoted toward the fixing seat 32, the clamping block 313 clamps the first connecting member 21, and the installation is completed.

The connection structure of the embodiments according to the present application allows a user to perform installation easily at night or in any low-light environment. Light emitted by the self-illuminating guidance portion guides the direction roughly, which is convenient for the user to find the installation position quickly. The first connection assembly and the quick-clamp assembly are primarily secured to one another by magnetic attraction. The inclined guide then helps the first connection assembly enter the first mounting groove smoothly so that the first and second magnetic-attraction portions can snap together. With the limiting slot of the first connection assembly engaged over the square rod of the limiting screw, a simple pivoting motion of the clamping lever causes the clamping block to grip the first connecting member, while the abutment portion of the first connecting member seats against the retaining slot, completing the joint between the first connection assembly and the quick-clamp assembly and thereby fastening the sight to the firearm. The connection structure of the present application does not need other connecting pieces when the first connection assembly and the quick-clamp assembly are installed, and the sight can be quickly and accurately installed onto the firearm through multiple instructions and guidances, which improves the experience of the user at night.

It is to be noted that, in this disclosure, the terms “comprise”, “include” or any other variations thereof are intended to cover non-exclusive inclusion, such that a process, method, article or apparatus comprising a set of elements includes not only those elements but also other elements that are not expressly listed or that are inherent to such process, method, article or apparatus. Without further limitation, the fact that an element is defined by the phrase “include a . . . ” does not exclude the existence of another identical element in the process, method, article, or device including that element.

The foregoing are only specific embodiments of the present disclosure, but the scope of the present disclosure is not limited thereto. Various changes or substitutions that may be readily conceivable by those skilled in the art within the scope of the technology disclosed in the present disclosure shall fall into the scope of the present disclosure.
