Triazole antifungal agents

The invention provides antifungal compounds of the formula: ##STR1## and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, whereinR is phenyl substituted by 1 to 3 substituents each independently selected from halo, --CF.sub.3 and --OCF.sub.3 ;R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl;R.sup.2 is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl;X is CH or N; andY is F or Cl.

Claims

1. A compound of the formula ##STR48## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein: R is phenyl substituted by two fluoro substituents.

2. A pharmaceutical composition for treating a fungal infection in a mammal which comprises an effective amount of the compound of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

3. A method of treating a fungal infection in a mammal which comprises administering to said mammal an effective amount of the compound of claim 2.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein said fungal infection is caused by Aspergillus spp. fungi.
