FIG. 1 is a front elevation of a backing plate for door and drawer pulls and the like, showing my new design;

FIG. 2 is a side elevation as seen from the lower side of FIG. 1;

FIG. 3 is an end elevation as seen from the left of FIG. 1; and

FIG. 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 4--4 of FIG. 2.
