Polar ski binding

The binding is typically screw-mounted to a ski and secures a boot for the purpose of polar skiing. The binding consists of a number of components that give the binding its distinctive shape, including an assembly of plastic plates, an aluminium top plate, aluminium side-walls and heel band, nylon webbing, nylon buckles and a loop of cord. When the binding is in use, the boot enters from the rear and sits on the base plate, secured by the strap system. The plates are used to secure the binding to the ski.
My design consists of a right and left binding. The descriptions and figures pertain to a right binding. The left-hand binding is not displayed but is a mirror view of all illustrations shown here.
