Description

FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a rail for overhead crane showing my new design;

FIG. 2 is an end view thereof;

FIG. 3 is a top view thereof;

FIG. 4 is a right side view thereof, the left side being identical; and,

FIG. 5 is a bottom view thereof.

The illustrated invention is intended for use as an overhead crane rail that hangs via rollers on the turned-in lower edges of the side of the rail. A carriage from which a hook or grab hangs via a chain or cable that can be payed out or drawn in by a motor/transmission unit mounted on the carriage that itself can travel along the rail. The rail is made of extruded aluminum and is formed internally and externally with full-length grooves and ridges intended to interfit with mounting hardware, travel-limiting stops, and guides. Of course other forms of construction, material, and applications are also within the scope of the invention.
