The design includes a metallic plate containing a color reproduction of a woodpecker in the form of a so-called “yellowhammer woodpecker” (official name: northern flicker), with the lower end of the plate bent outwardly to form a support member. The plate is to be mounted to a wooden pole, for instance a telephone pole, to make woodpeckers believe the pole is already occupied by a woodpecker and thereby deter woodpeckers from picking holes in the pole.
