BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANTThe present invention comprises a new Begonia plant, botanically known as Begonia hybrida, and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘BEYZ0008’.
‘BEYZ0008’ is a product of a planned breeding program in Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada. The new cultivar ‘BEYZ0008’ has a compact symmetrical rounded habit, double yellow to orange male flowers, and single yellow to orange female flowers that bloom from spring to fall. ‘BEYZ0008’ is also characterized by its deep mahogany foliage with bright green veins.
‘BEYZ0008’ is the result of a planned pollination conducted at the inventor's nursery at Whitecourt, Alberta made in August 2019. The female parent of the new cultivar is the unnamed yellow seedling of proprietary origin, unpatented, and characterized by its dark foliage and larger flowers. ‘BEYZ0008’ differs from the unnamed yellow seedling of the inventor's proprietary selection by having a bicolored yellow and orange flower. The male parent of the new cultivar is the unnamed seedling of the proprietary selection, unpatented, having a larger flower and a larger overall plant size than ‘BEYZ0008’.
The resulting seed was sown in Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada in a controlled greenhouse environment in 2020 and ‘BEYZ0008’ was selected as one flowering plant within the progeny of the stated cross in June 2020.
The first act of asexual reproduction of ‘BEYZ0008’ was accomplished when vegetative stem cuttings were propagated from the initial selection in the inventor's nursery, in Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTIONPlants of the new Begonia have not been observed under all possible combinations of environmental conditions and cultural practices. The phenotype may vary somewhat with variations in environmental conditions such as temperature and light intensity, without, however, any variance in genotype.
A Plant Breeder's Right for this cultivar has not yet been applied for. ‘BEYZ0008’ has not been made publicly available prior to the effective filing date of this application, notwithstanding any disclosure that may have been made less than one year prior to the effective filing date of this application by the inventor or another who obtained ‘BEYZ0008’ directly from the inventor.
The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be basic characteristics of the new variety. The combination of these characteristics distinguishes this Begonia as a new and distinct variety.

The plant descriptions and measurements were taken in Whitecourt, Alberta in June 2025. The plants were approximately 4 months old and were growing in 8 inch pots, one plant per pot in the inventor's greenhouse under natural light in Whitecourt, Alberta in the summer of 2025
