  • Patent number: 4006600
Abstract: A tapered pile tip has a welded core assembly within its reinforced concrete body, the assembly having a tubular, mandrel-receiving core including a tubular member exposed at the larger end of the tip to which a length of corrugated tubing is to be welded and a member welded to the reinforcements of the body, one member including a seat engageable by the mandrel and a tubular portion receiving an end of the core.

  • Patent number: 4006890
Abstract: In making sheet metal parts by means of oxygen cutting, the cutting torch is positioned so as to direct the oxygen jet at an angle of 4.degree.-5.degree. from the vertical in the direction of the cut and at an equal angle toward the part being cut out. An arrangement for orientating the gas cutting torch comprises two coaxial cylinders. The outer cylinder is mounted rotatably in relation to the inner cylinder. The inner cylinder is fixedly mounted on the carriage of the gas cutting machine and is connected through a flexible means to the cutting torch which is fitted in a bearing whose outer race is linked to the outer cylinder and is adapted to have an angular motion in a vertical plane. Gas supply hoses pass through the inner cylinder to the cutting torch.

  • Patent number: 4007352
Abstract: After the mesas are formed in the glass glaze over an aluminum oxide substrate by etching, and before resistive and conductive materials are deposited over the mesas by thin film techniques, an aluminum oxide underlayer is applied. The aluminum oxide underlayer provides controlled etching of the raised heater elements and conductors to prevent undesirable additional erosion of the glass glaze mesas.

  • Patent number: 4007431
Abstract: A laser gyro is disclosed having a long life cathode located therein. The laser gyro comprises a block having a plurality of lasing tubes bored therethrough and being angularly disposed to each other to form a closed path within the block. A plurality of mirrors are positioned at the intersection of the tubes to reflect light from one tube into the next. A pair of anodes are inserted into two of the lasing tubes. A cavity is formed within the center of the block and is connected to the triangular laser path via a conduit. The cavity contains a cathode for conducting direct current to each of the anodes. These current flows energize the lasing gas to create a pair of laser beams moving in opposite directions in the closed path. The cathode is a closed end, hollow cylinder made of aluminum having a layer of oxide formed thereon by means of anodization.
