Patent number: 4004398Abstract: A firm container is fed with a plastic material which surrounds the firm container along a portion of its length. The firm container has an open end which is closed off by a pair of welding jaws which welds the plastic material together and forms the bottom of a container that holds a pulverized material. Pulverized material is then fed to the bottom of the container and after feeding is over, the plastic material is allowed to fall from the firm container by moving a support table downwardly. After the support table has moved downwardly a certain distance, the welding jaws are operated again and weld a new piece of plastic material to the open end of the firm container, thus forming a bottom for a new container and closing off the top of the previously-made container. A piston is provided within the firm container for compressing the pulverized material fed into the interior of the firm container.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1974Date of Patent: January 25, 1977Assignee: Aktiebolaget PlatmanufakturInventors: Lars Goran Larsson, Sture Ingemar Sundberg

Patent number: 4004399Abstract: The packaging machine is provided with a dumper shaft which includes material receiving chambers which can be adjusted in size to receive and measure varying amounts of material. Each material receiving means is made up of a pair of coaxial discs and radiating plates between the discs, the discs being held in place by locking collars. Outlet nozzles from the hopper above the dumper shaft are disposed to empty into a respective chamber while being disposed within the plane of the chamber. As the dumper shaft is rotated, the hopper and the outlets are raised to permit rotation. The upper edge of each plate has a lip or ledge directed in the direction of rotation of the dumper shaft to retain the material during rotation.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1975Date of Patent: January 25, 1977Assignee: Foodways National, Inc.Inventor: Denis Borrello

Patent number: 4004400Abstract: A machine for wrapping articles in an elongated strip of wrapping material of the type in which the machine forms the strip into a channel as the strip is advanced past the loading station, articles are deposited in the strip at the loading station, and the strip is folded into a tube around the articles and longitudinally sealed as the strip is advanced past a longitudinal sealing station, and the strip is thereafter transversely sealed between the articles and severed to form separate packages. The machine has endless type upper and lower jaw conveyors which are operated to grip and advance the strip through a selectively adjustable distance and seal and sever the strip to form packages of selectively adjustable lengths. The machine also includes an improved endless type of inlet conveyor which is operative to grip the enfolded strip of wrapping material at opposite sides of the article to hold the articles in position in the wrapping material as it is advanced.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 1976Date of Patent: January 25, 1977Assignee: Ralph F. Patent number: 4004401Abstract: In an automatic carton closing machine, adjustable holding mechanism for a pair of elongated longitudinal clamping rails which converts them to laterally spaced side guide rails extending through the machine to define a path of carton forward travel therebetween and provides sliding clearance for all loaded cartons of a group intended to be of about the same size while accommodating small degrees of variances in widths thereof. For this purpose there are provided means to move at least one of the pair of side guide rails inward toward the other to cause them to be spaced apart with location thereof closely adjacent to opposite sides of a loaded carton of a single size group as it enters the machine for forward guided transport therebetween past flaps manipulating and anchoring mechanisms of the machine, and means to adjust such spacing between these rails to assure attainment of the desired relatively small degree of additive tolerance.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1976Date of Patent: January 25, 1977Assignee: The Loveshaw CorporationInventor: Winton Loveland
