  • Patent number: 4010545
Abstract: Orthodontic brackets and the like are adhesively secured to teeth by means of a self-curing thixotropic acrylic ester monomer composition wherein the monomer has been made thixotropic through the inclusion of fumed silane treated silica and wherein the acrylic ester monomer or monomers have two or more active acrylic ester groups, the thixotropic compositions prior to curing having a viscosity of about 85,000 cps to 4,385,000 cps.Prior to adhering the orthodontic bracket or other device to the tooth surface, the tooth surface is acid-etched, rinsed and dried. The thixotropic-activated monomer is then applied to the surface of the tooth or to the surface of the orthodontic bracket just prior to placing the bracket on the tooth.

  • Patent number: 4010549
Abstract: An all solid state gyromagnetic compass system operable in the slaved, compass and free gyro modes wherein magnetic compass error rates, fast or slow slaving rates, gyro drift rates, earth's rate and set heading rates are all produced by means of a solid state analog angle rate generator. This generator includes a dual slope integrator responsive to scaled d.c. voltages representing the required rates and which generate shaped sine and cosine control signals therefrom for the various system modes having constant amplitudes and variable frequency representing the required rates. The system outputs are provided in standard three wire synchro format for interfacing with any utilization system requiring conventional slaved gyromagnetic compass data, magnetic compass data or free gyro data.

  • Patent number: 4010550
Abstract: An apparatus and method utilizing an oscillating drum through which is passed a continuous web of textile fabric moved axially through the drum by synchronized drive means; the drum including confronting grid structures having angularly arranged portions which serve to prevent tangling the web as the web is moved forward and the drum oscillates. Hot air is introduced adjacent the entrance end and exit end of the drum and into the drum itself to maintain the web in suspension; and, optionally, live steam may be directed against the web before entering the drum.

  • Patent number: 4010551
Abstract: An arrangement is disclosed which is suitable for the treatment of particulate matter entrained by a gas, a preferred application being to the drying of particulate matter. The arrangement includes a treatment zone having an inlet region for the introduction of a stream of particulate matter which is entrained by a gas. Means defining a flow path for the substantially uniform entrainment of the particulate matter by the gas is provided upstream of the inlet region. The means includes a first section having an arcuate part and which communicates with a source of the gas. This first section has an upstream portion of circular cross-section and a downstream portion of rectangular cross-section and includes a region wherein the flow path cross-sectional area decreases in downstream direction.
