  • Patent number: 4030290
Abstract: A thrust reverser suitable for reversing the flow direction of the fan air of a fan jet engine is disclosed. The thrust reverser comprises a cascade section and a fan duct blocker section. The cascade section includes a series of cascade elements mounted in a side-by-side manner about a portion of the engine nacelle for rotation through an arc of 90.degree. about longitudinal axes lying generally parallel to the direction of fan air flow. Each cascade element includes an inner panel, an outer panel, and a series of vanes located between the inner and outer panels. Rotation is between a closed position whereat the inner panel forms a portion of the fan air duct and the outer panel forms a portion of the outer surface of the nacelle, and an open position whereat the vanes define passageways adapted to reverse fan air flow i.e., direct fan air flow back toward the front of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4030291
Abstract: In a mixed flow gas turbine engine of the type which includes an outer nacelle spaced apart from a core engine to define an annular bypass duct therebetween, a thrust reverse is incorporated into the outer nacelle immediately aft of a fan disposed in the inlet. The thrust reverser reverses the discharge direction of the airflow exhausted from the bypass duct thereby to develop reverse thrust. The unique design and location of the thrust reverser permits the use of an aerodynamically efficient and relatively easy to manufacture cylindrical structure immediately aft of the engine fan frame.

  • Patent number: 4030294
Abstract: A compressed air generating device for forklift trucks in which a main pipeline connected to the end of the lift cylinder air chamber branches into a high-pressure air pipe and a return pipe, selectively communicating with the main pipeline through a switching valve means. With the main pipeline switched to communication with the main pipeline high-pressure air pipe, during the descending phase of the piston, air is sucked through an air suction pipe attached to the main pipeline into the lift cylinder air chamber, and during the rising phase of the piston, the air in the air chamber is compressed and is sent into an air tank as compressed air.

  • Patent number: 4030295
Abstract: A tractor-implement hydraulic system having a valve interposed between a cylinder-piston assembly, a reservoir and a variable displacement pressure and flow compensated pump having compensating means is disclosed herein. The valve has a housing which has a bore supporting a valve spool and an inlet chamber and pressure chamber in communication with the valve bore with the inlet chamber being connected to the pump while the pressure chamber is connected to both the cylinder and the compensating means so that the cylinder and compensating means are immediately interconnected when the valve spool is actuated in one direction. The valve housing also has a return passage between the cylinder and the reservoir with a valve therein that normally blocks flow and is opened in response to movement of the valve spool in an opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4030297
Abstract: A closed working fluid system for a regenerative Stirling engine is disclosed. The system employs double-acting pistons arranged with each low temperature (compression) space connected to one hot (expansion) space of an adjacent piston. The low temperature spaces are all connected to a reservoir system employing two separate chambers, one at a high pressure and another at a relatively low pressure. Control means select the reservoir for communication with the working system depending on the torque demand of the engine; the control means also permits fluid flow to pass from any one low temperature space to the selected reservoir when the pressure condition in the low temperature space exceeds the associated reservoir pressure.
