  • Patent number: 4057883
Abstract: A rotary ball valve includes a seat support integral with the valve body, a rotatable ball, a movable seat support, a retaining ring, and, on opposite sides of the ball, thin annular seating rings made from a material, such as tetrafluoroethylene. When the valve is assembled, the seating rings are deformed to engage the ball and supports and undergo a small amount of cold-flow outwardly toward interior passage walls of the valve body so that the outer periphery of the seat rings engages and forms a seal between the ball member and the interior passage wall. The seat-engaging surfaces of the seat supports each have grooves into which the seating rings cold-flow during valve assembly. Ribs are thus formed on the seating rings which keep the seats from rocking. The valve also provides an improved stem seal, including a Belleville washer confining a tetrafluoroethylene washer. In addition, the valve includes a handle having a novel projection for limiting movement of the ball to 90.degree.

  • Patent number: 4057919
Abstract: The data carrier is of the type consisting of a data carrying paper blank interposed between two films bonded to the opposite surfaces of the paper blank at respective bonding interfaces. At least one of the bonding interfaces has local areas in which the bond between the film and the respective surface of the paper blank is at least weakened, or omitted, relative to the remainder of the respective bonding interface, so that, when an attempt is made to split the data carrier paper blank along a plane between its opposite surfaces, and the local areas are reached, the tear, following the course of least resistance, will turn toward the surface of the paper blank. This results in a tear at the local areas and thus in the destruction of the respective surfaces of the paper blank.

  • Patent number: 4057925
Abstract: A fishing lure retrieving unit of substantial and rugged construction for the retrieval of artificial fishing lures that become snagged or fouled on underwater objects, such as logs, rocks or underwater vegetation. The retrieving unit is provided with several forward grappling hooks of comparatively heavy gauge metal for the purpose of bringing the submarine obstruction to the surface with the lure intact, thereby minimizing any damage to the lure itself. In those cases where the obstruction, due to its physical mass or physical features cannot be brought to the surface by the grappling hooks, the device is provided with secondary hooking means for the purpose of engaging the barrel or snap swivel attached near the nose of the fishing lure, thereby permitting its retrieval by forceably pulling the hook through or around the underwater object.

  • Patent number: 4057926
Abstract: A strengthened fiberglass fishing rod includes a hollow, tubular butt section and a solid tip section, both sections being tapered longitudinally with the base of the tip section inserted in and cemented to the butt section. To conceal the joint between the two sections and greatly enhance the appearance of the rod, the frame of a guide for the fishing line is laid across the joint and fastened by a wrapping of thread which extends over contiguous end portions of the tip and butt rod sections. If desired, the wrapping over the rod section joint may be utilized alone without the fishing line guide. The invention also contemplates the method of making the described rod.
