  • Patent number: 4164074
Abstract: Dental articulator formed with individually adjustable, upper and lower carrier plates, each having means for quick-coupling to one of an interchangeable pair of planar mounts (each mount adapted to adhesively support an assembled denture against one of its faces). A pair of matching dentures can thus be assembled either within or away from the articulator, mounted and tested for occlusion therein, and subsequently reworked (as often as necessary) either within or when removed from the articulator. Essentially a pair of thrust-coupling or threaded attachment means on the carrier plate or on the mount, engage corresponding sockets of the opposite member. Formulation of the mount of inexpensive plastic enables discard after single use.

  • Patent number: 4164112
Abstract: A cutting blade assembly for a lawn mower is provided with mechanism for prestressing the blade to lessen vibration during use and also for adjusting the blade so as to accurately position and align the blade relative to the associated blade housing so that the blade operates in a horizontal plane. This prestressing and adjusting mechanism may also be employed to compensate for any misalignment in the mounting of the blade spindle relative to the blade housing. In one specific embodiment in which the blade is bolted to a blade support bar which, in turn, is fixed to a vertical spindle mounted centrally to the blade housing, the prestressing and adjusting mechanism is achieved by pressure-applying bolts or screws threaded through the blade support bar on opposite sides of the spindle so as to be engageable with the blade. Advancement of the screws serves to deflect the blade downwardly to prestress the blade and/or to position the blade in a desired horizontal plane.

The threading mechanisms automatically thread yarn withdrawn from the supply package through the passageways and includes air injector nozzle positioned at the juncture of the yarn passageways for selectively creating an air suction and positive air jet through the respective yarn passageways and an air duct for selectively supplying air under pressure to the injector nozzle from an air supply connector moved into and out of connection therewith.

  • Patent number: 4164116
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing a twisted polyester filament yarn having a high level of twist used for a woven or knitted crepe fabric.A method of this invention comprises imparting a high level of twist to a polyester filament yarn which has particular properties, and heat setting said twisted polyester filament yarn. The first of these properties which the polyester filament yarn has is that a boil-off shrinkage in boiling water is in the range of 0% to 5%. The second is that a thermal shrinkage stress at 140.degree. C. in hot air is more than 0.03 g/de. The third is that a ratio of a thermal shrinkage stress at 180.degree. C. in hot air to a thermal shrinkage stress at 140.degree. C. is more than 1.0.The polyester filament yarn which has above mentioned properties can be obtained by repeating heat treatment several times at a temperature from 160.degree. C. to 220.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4164117
Abstract: A method for producing ingrain spun-like yarn simulating a blended staple yarn is described wherein continuous filament yarn is produced which has characteristics similar to blended staple spun yarns. Fabrics made from the yarns described herein provide a fine grained heather appearance without the normal moire or plaiting effect seen in previous ingrain continuous filament yarn fabrics. The unusual continuous filament yarn described herein is made by a texturing process which involves the combination of two or more differently dyeable continuous synthetic yarns which are false twist textured followed by overfeeding to an air bulking means. The preferred method utilizes false twist texturing of synthetic filaments such as polyester, nylon, cellulose acetate or cellulose triacetate and mixtures thereof wherein two differently dyeable yarns are combined with an air bulking jet interposed to act on the false twist textured yarn while it has a high residual torque and subsequently decaying said torque.

  • Patent number: 4164118
Abstract: A device for positioning the individual links of a length of chain having nks to be welded is disclosed. The device is used in connection with a chain welding machine wherein a length of chain is advanced step-by-step upwardly over a vertex defined by a saddle at which a welding station is located and then downwardly. The saddle is advantageously formed of a generally cylindrical, horizontally extending bolt affixed to the machine and which has a flattened top portion to which each chain link to be welded is advanced then erected for welding. Alternate links arrive at the flattened top of the bolt with the planes of successive links arranged at inclinations of 45.degree. to either side of a vertical plane containing the axis of the length of chain under the influence of the shape of the saddle and gravity.

  • Patent number: 4164119
Abstract: A hydraulic pump unloading system having an engine driving two hydraulic pumps which are connected in parallel to a load-supporting member. An unloading valve is connected in the hydraulic line with one of the two pumps and is shiftable between positions for directing flow to the load and for directing flow to a reservoir, depending upon the pressure and or flow in the hydraulic line. Also, a pressure-compensated flow-control valve is connected in the line with the other pump and, under certain conditions, directs fluid pressure to the unloading valve for setting the unloading valve in either the operative or the unloading position, all depending upon the hydraulic condition at the load-supporting member. Further, either an additional valve or a spring can be effective on the unloading valve for controlling the operative and the unloading position of the unloading valve.

  • Patent number: 4164121
Abstract: A control mechanism for the lift cylinder of an electric lift truck. A first pump motor is energized by the closing of a first switch in response to movement of the lift valve spool toward the lift position. A second pump motor is energized when the lift valve spool is in its full lift position and a bending moment is applied to the control rod controlling the lift valve spool of sufficient magnitude to elastically deflect the control rod into closing engagement with the switch.

Abstract: An improved master cylinder in which a pair of orifices extend through the cylinder wall and means is provided on the exterior of the cylinder to permit fluid communication therebetween. The orifices are located near the end of the cylinder to permit restricted flow around the piston in the master cylinder when it is near or at the end of its stroke to cause both the master and slave piston to complete their strokes and at substantially the same time. A similar pair of orifices and an exterior communication means at the other end of the cylinder provides for re-phasing during piston movement in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4164123
Abstract: A solar thermal electric energy system utilizes a solar receptor having a double paned glass window with cooling liquid circulating therethrough. This serves as a window for a solar heat receptor cavity having a number of water or steam carrying tubes therein. A portion of the tubes operate at a temperature range suitable for heating boiler water and another portion of the tubes is at a higher temperature which serves as steam superheat. The liquid flowing through a pair of window panes is triethylene glycol and in addition to cooling the window has an index of refraction which matches the window to provide the most efficient conduction of solar energy to the heat recepting tubes behind the window. The power plant itself includes heat saving jackets around the steam headers to provide for boiler feed water preheat and has both high pressure and low pressure turbines to utilize most efficiently the water being heated by the solar receptors.
