  • Patent number: 4236730
Abstract: A seatbelt system which includes an anchor plate which anchors one under the passenger restraining belt and which is fastened to a runner piece which moves along a guide rail fastened to a motor vehicle body. When the anchor plate receives a driving force, the anchor plate moves along the guide rail so that the belt is automatically fastened about the passenger. The seatbelt system is further arranged and configured such that a belt anchoring portion of the anchor plate and a portion of the runner piece that is directly supported by the guide rail are both provided on a straight line which coincides with the line of action of belt tension during a vehicular emergency whereby belt tension is securely supported by the guide rail.

  • Patent number: 4236737
Abstract: The invention pertains to high pressure conduit swivel joints capable of conducting fluid pressures of 6,000 psi wherein the associated conduit members of the joint are permitted angular deflection and relative rotational movement. An elastomer assembly is interposed between the conduit associated members of the joint permitting limited relative rotational movement solely due to elastic deformation, and greater rotative movement produces bearing supported rotation of the members. A tubular sleeve is mounted upon a body, and a retainer attached to the body maintains the sleeve thereon, and the elastomer assembly is compressed by the retainer which controls the torque requirements for producing bearing rotative support of the members, such bearing supported rotation occuring at greater torque conditions than that necessary to produce limited member rotation due to elastomer deformation.

  • Patent number: 4236764
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an earth boring bit of otherwise conventional construction except for the bearing and cutter retention. A snap fit ring is used to retain the cutter, the grooves that receive the ring and the ring construction being such that the ring is forced into the retainer groove when the cone is thrust inward. • Patent number: 4236769
Abstract: A display stand is provided with a plurality of ring-like shelves arranged in a vertical array above a base with the first, third, fifth, etc., shelves above the base being in a first group which are rotatable in a first direction and with the second, fourth, sixth, etc., shelves above the base being in a second group which are rotatable in a second, opposite direction. A plurality of rotatable drive rods are spaced equidistantly around a circle in the base and project upwardly therefrom within the interior of the ring-like shelves. Each drive rod carries fixed rollers which rotate with the drive rod and which each have an annular groove therein for supporting and frictionally engaging an inner portion of one of the ring-like shelves. One half of the drive rods are thus engaged with the first group of shelves and are driven by a motor to rotate in the first direction. The other half of the drive rods are thus engaged with the first group of shelves and are driven to rotate in the second, opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4236773
Abstract: A cabinet drawer is provided with two drawer supports or rollers which are mounted near the front edge of the cabinet which supports the drawer, and below the edges of the drawer. The roller or support assembly includes a roller which is relatively flat and is mounted to rotate about an axis which is tilted inward toward the drawer by about 12 degrees. The upper surface of the roller is a relatively flat cone, and the roller rotates with the drawer in engagement with the horizontally extending outer portion of the upper conical surface of the roller. The support makes engagement with the lower surface of the flat roller, and is also provided with tabs for securing the roller assembly to the cabinet. The roller and its housing or support are held together by an axial member which may be a part of the roller, a part of the support, or a separate securing fastener.

  • Patent number: 4236777
Abstract: An integrated circuit package for establishing electrical contact with the terminal areas or pads of an integrated circuit chip comprises an insulating substrate having a flat surface in which there are embedded a plurality of electrodeposited conductors. The conductors have inner ends in a chip-receiving zone of the flat surface and have outer end portions which are remote from the chip-receiving zone. The inner ends of the conductors have contact bumps or promontories extending above the flat surface and located such that when a chip is placed on the promontories, they will be against the terminal areas of the chip. The chip can be held against the promontories by a suitable clamping means and contact established with the conductors at their outer ends by suitable connecting means. The device is particularly useful for testing chips prior to their being placed in service.
