Patent number: 4243003Abstract: A fuel injection system is proposed which serves for the improved conditioning of the fuel-air mixture fed to a mixture-compressing, spark-ignited internal combustion engine. The fuel injection system comprises preferably an injection valve at the air intake pipe wherein a conditioning member, pivotable by the amount of air introduced in opposition to a resetting force, is arranged downstream of an arbitrarily operable throttle element, this pivoting action being arranged to cause a pressure drop at the conditioning member. The fuel injection takes place through an injection valve disposed in an air bypass beyond the throttle element and the conditioning member. Due to the pressure drop produced by the conditioning member, it is ensured that, in all positions of the throttle element, a constant air stream is maintained via the air bypass, which serves for conditioning the injected fuel.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Heinrich Knapp

Patent number: 4243036Abstract: The automatically acting injecting projectile, which may be fired from a rifle or handgun for anesthesia or drug treatment of animals, consists of a casing (9) on one end of which there is a plastic extension (10) and on the other a hollow needle (5). Gas propellant may be filled into pressure chamber (15) of the casing through a check valve (1) and channel (12). Upon impact of the injecting projectile in the body of the animal deformable projectile brake (7) is pushed back and jams on a stopping cone (6). At the same time outlet (5a) of hollow needle (5) is cleared by the moving sliding sleeve (8). Thus, piston (2) may be driven by the gas propellant, thereby injecting the drug contained in drug chamber (14) and the hollow needle into the surrounding tissue of the animal through outlet (5a).Charging with the drug before firing is carried out by puncturing a silicon caoutchouc seal (3) with a hypodermic needle through a puncture opening (4) in casing (9), and then injecting the drug into drug chamber (14).Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Inventor: Peter Ott

Patent number: 4243039Abstract: A tourniquet, destined to be used in an emergency, particularly on the battlefield, comprises a strap and a combined mechanism for tightening the strap and indicating the pressure exerted on the limb. The mechanism consists of a casing which contains a spool on which the free end of the strap is wound up by means of a pawl and ratchet mechanism. This casing is slidingly movable on a plate attached to the second end of the strap and urged in a direction opposed to the tightening force by two spiral springs positioned between the plate and the casing. Two tongues integral with the plate are made to protrude out of the casing by a length proportional to the compression of the springs and are marked to indicate the pressure exerted on the limb by the strap. These marks also give an indication of the maximum force allowable for an arm or a leg, taking into consideration the circumference of the respective limb.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Inventor: Yacov Aginsky

Patent number: 4243040Abstract: Useful for removing kidney stones, gall stones and other objects from human body passages, the extracting device comprises a thin tubular rubber sleeve having its proximal and distal ends connected to the distal ends of outer and inner flexible tubes insertable into the body passage. The sleeve is inflatable by fluid pressure, supplied along the clearance space between the tubes to dilate the passage. The distal end of the sleeve is turned inside out and, when the sleeve is inflated, forms a soft annular flaring convex portion bulging beyond the distal end of the inner tube for sealing engagement with the stone, which is captured by suction, applied through the inner tube. Then, the inner tube is retracted, so that the suction pulls the stone within the sleeve while progressively turning the sleeve inside out around the stone to envelop the stone, for removal with the tubes.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Inventor: William H.
