  • Patent number: 4281434
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning the surface of a rotating roller (1). First and second cleaning blades (8, 9) each have an edge extending axially across the surface of the roller and adjacent thereto, the edges being parallel and directed against the direction of rotation of the roller. The edge of the second blade (9) is disposed behind the edge of the first blade (8) relative to the direction of rotation. Means are provided for causing relative movement of the blades to reverse the disposition of the edges and cause the edge of the blade (9) to scrape that surface of the blade (8) which faces towards the roller. During such movement the blade (9) is moved so that its edge contacts the roller to keep a constant cleaning action. The edge of blade (8) scrapes the surface of blade (9) as the blades return to their original disposition.

  • Patent number: 4281438
Abstract: The "cleaning-out" capability of a flat combing machine is increased by decreasing the distance between the jaw of the tong of the flat comber and the points of the opposed rows of needles on the round comber to a minimum distance and keeping this minimum distance constant. The needles are arranged on the round comber such that the radius of the needle points of the rows of needles lying side by side to the pivot of the round comber decreases, then increases, counter to the direction of rotation of the round comber. The tong is suspended by a pendulum and the distance between the pivot of the pendulum and the axis of the round comber is less than the sum of the maximum radius needle points to the pivot of the round comber, plus the minimum distance from the jaw of the tong to the needle points, plus the radius of the jaw of the tong to the pivot of the pendulum.

  • Patent number: 4281448
Abstract: Method of fabricating monolithic integrated circuit structure incorporating a full-wave diode bridge rectifier of four Schottky diodes. A body of silicon is produced by growing an epitaxial layer of N-type silicon on a P-type substrate. P-type imparting material is diffused into the layer to form isolating barriers delineating first and second N-type zones separated from each other by intervening P-type material and third and fourth N-type zones which are contiguous. A mixture of titanium and tungsten is deposited on portions of the zones and heated to form a mixed silicide. Schottky rectifying barriers are produced at the interfaces of the mixed silicide and N-type zones.

  • Patent number: 4281453
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a shaving apparatus having a shear plate with hair entry apertures and a drivable cutting unit with at least one cutting element provided with a cutting edge. Owing to the presence of the shear plate a shaving apparatus of this type does not allow the hairs to be shaved as closely to the skin as a shaving apparatus without such a shear plate, where the cutting element is in direct contact with the skin. In order to eliminate this drawback a construction is proposed in which the cutting element is provided with a hair pulling element which leads in the direction of the driving and which is immobile relative to the cutting element.

  • Patent number: 4281469
Abstract: A device such as an earring card having a main panel adapted to display jewelry articles while oriented in a generally vertical position by suspension from a rod or the like. Preferably, the upper portion of the main panel adjacent to a centrally disposed display area includes a pair of vertically spaced, parallel, outwardly extending flanges, which in combination with that portion of the main panel disposed therebetween form a slot or groove adapted to receive a secondary panel on which advertising or other identifying material may be placed. Accordingly, the secondary panel is removable such that the indicia may be changed without modifying the package. Means for preventing the lateral movement of the second panel with respect to the first is provided either in the form of an upwardly extending tab adapted for receipt in an opening in one of the flanges or by means of a plurality of serrations provided on opposite edges of the second panel for frictional engagement with the flanges.

Abstract: Apparatus for location in places where foodstuffs are or may be stored takes the form of elongated tubes of shapes and sizes so that mice can go through them. Cartridges carrying a rodenticide placed at intervals along the tubes so that mice traversing the tubes contact the rodenticide and become affected by it. A particular feature of the invention is that the rodenticide is provided on raised parts of the cartridges which the mice have to stretch over, so making maximum contact with the rodenticide.

  • Patent number: 4281473
Abstract: A landscaping bed divider is disclosed for forming a boundary between adjacent landscaping areas and for preventing grass or the like from rooting between adjacent areas. The divider is formed as an elongated structure having an enlarged upper section, and a flange section extending lengthwise along the upper section and depending downwardly therefrom for insertion in the ground whereby the upper section is located above the top surface of the ground and the flange section forms a barrier between adjacent landscaping areas. Upwardly and outwardly diverging lips are formed integrally with the flange section intermediate the ends thereof for securing the flange section in the ground. The flange section is corrugated above the securing lips and is a plane section below the securing lips. The corrugations define vertical reinforcing ribs on the flange section, and the plane section below the securing ribs defines a lead-in portion to facilitate locating and inserting the divider structure in the ground.

  • Patent number: 4281475
Abstract: A door opener has a housing in which is contained a small fractional-horsepower reversible motor whose output shaft is connected to a worm gear journaled in the apparatus and meshing with a main gear in turn connected to an output member constituted as a sprocket. A clutch is provided between the main gear and the sprocket for disconnecting the two when rotation of the output member is resisted with a torque exceeding a given limit torque. A step-down transmission is connected between this output member and a control disk that carries opening and closing stops that are respectively engageable with opening and closing switches of an electrical control circuit. Thus the angular position of the control disk is directly related to the position of a door connected to the output member. A switch is provided which is actuated whenever the torque exerted between the motor and the worm exceeds a predetermined limit, and serves to reverse the displacement direction of the door in this case.

The device includes a blocking member supported on a header of the outer frame so as to be angularly movable between its horizontal and vertical positions. The device further includes means carried on the header for releasably retaining the blocking member in the horizontal position, whereby the sash or door can be prevented from being removed from the outer frame. When released from the retaining means, the blocking member pivots by gravity from the horizontal position to the vertical position where it is clearly visible, permitting the sash to be removed from the outer frame.
