  • Patent number: 4290169
Abstract: A cylindrical tube is inclined from the vertical below a sliver guide, the bottom end of the tube being mounted on a supporting element, and the upper part being accommodated in a bearing, the outer race of which is located in a horizontal plate. The horizontal plate has a gyratory motion imparted to it through two crankshafts, such that the tube would undergo a nutational movement. To improve the distribution of the sliver, the axis of the cycloidal loops of sliver passing from the tube is shifted by journaling the crankshafts on a second horizontal plate to which a gyratory movement is imparted by a second pair of crankshafts. The first pair of crankshafts is driven more slowly than the second pair.

  • Patent number: 4290208
Abstract: A counter-current absorption process for the dehumidification of moist air or saturated water vapor is described. The absorption liquid used in said process consists of an aqueous solution of one or more non-volatile components. The absorption is carried out adiabatically, that is without substantial heat exchange with the surroundings, and with weight proportions between the absorption liquid and the gas or vapor such that most of the condensation heat of the water vapor condensed during the absorption is transferred to the gas or vapor becoming progressively drier, to thereby raise the temperature thereof. The diluted absorption liquid is concentrated by evaporation and is then recycled for reuse. The demoisturized and heated air or vapor is used e.g. in a drying process and is then recycled to the absorption device.

  • Patent number: 4290209
Abstract: An improved dryer fabric, woven entirely from monofilament plastic polymeric warp and weft strands, having a lower permeability to air flow and lower modulus of elasticity than normal fabrics, wherein at least the warp strands are flattened in cross-section, with the long axis of the flattened section extending parallel to the plane of the fabric and wherein the weft strands may be shaped so as to more or less conform to the horizontally directed passages of the mesh naturally formed by the woven warp strands and may also be relatively more malleable than the warp strands so that under stress they can adapt to conform to the shape of mesh interstices thereby to restrict these and still further reduce the permeability.

  • Patent number: 4290210
Abstract: A device for drying a web, such as paper web. Air distribution boxes 4 are arranged on both sides of the plane 2 of a path of guidance for the web. Each one of the distribution boxes includes a line of first opening means 6 extending transversally to the direction of guidance and arranged to direct the air essentially perpendicularly towards said plane, and a line of opening means 8 essentially parallel to the line of first opening means and arranged to direct the fluid essentially along said plane. Guide means 22 direct the air issued from opening means 8 away from the line of first opening means 6 towards and along an adjoining surface portion 10 of the box on a higher level than the line of first opening means 6. Each line of the first opening means in the box on either side of said plane is located in front of said surface portion 10 of the confronting box located on other side of the plane.

Abstract: An article of footwear having an improved outsole formed with uniformly distributed small apertures therethrough throughout its area, the apertures being of circular, oval or other curvilinear or angular or polygonal cross-section or any combination of them throughout their axial length and tapering convergently upwardly. The apertures optimally have diameters, or spans defining equivalent cross-sectional areas, on the order of about 1.6-2 millimeters at their inner ends and 2.4-2.8 millimeters at their outer ends, with center to center spacings on the order of about 5-7 millimeters. Small untapered holes may be employed.

  • Patent number: 4290212
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a shoe having a bottom of wood or other rigid material, the bottom being divided by means of a transverse section in the region between the sole and the shank of the shoe. The partition section makes an acute angle with the plane of the sole, and a slot is provided in each section surface for accommodating a hinge of flexible material. The edge of the shank is beveled adjacent to the partition section approximately at right angles thereto, a material piece being secured in the thus-formed V-shaped groove by gluing.

  • Patent number: 4290215
Abstract: A badge includes a pin for securing the badge to a garment. The pin comprises a resilient wire member bent substantially in a rectangle in a manner that the opposite ends of the wire member are located at one corner thereof. The pin has a hook portion at one end and a sharp point at the other end, which is engageably fitted into the hook. A prong having a sharp point of the wire member and a stem opposing thereto are spaced apart from each other by a distance larger than a thickness of a thumb or forefinger, so that engagement and disengagement of the prong having a sharp point with and from the hook is facilitated, thereby providing ease of attachment or removal of the badge to or from the garment.
