Patent number: RE30953Abstract: A diffuser for a conditioned air system for buildings incorporates a self contained and integrated sensor actuator for varying the volume flow of conditioned air through the diffuser in response to changes in room air temperature. The sensor actuator structure for sensing the room air temperature and for modulating the conditioned air flow is entirely contained within the diffuser structure and is powered directly by the changes in room air temperature without auxiliary equipment or power systems. The self contained diffuser is fully adaptable to existing systems to provide either or both modulated cooling and modulated heating and also to supply modulated cooling with the capability of morning warm-up.The diffuser is constructed to direct the air flow from the periphery of the diffuser and into the room at an angle and with a velocity which causes the air flow to have preferred aerodynamic characteristics so as to hug the ceiling and to avoid dumping.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1981Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Assignee: Acutherm, Inc.Inventors: Robert L. Vance, Robert W. Noll

Patent number: RE30955Abstract: A resilient, thermally bonded, non-woven fibrous batt having a uniform compression modulus in one plane which is more than the compression modulus measured in a direction perpendicular to that plane, and a substantially uniform density across its thickness is obtained by preparing a batt comprising at least 20% by weight of crimped and/or crimpable conjugate fibres having or capable of developing a crimp frequency of less than 10 crimps per extended cm. and a decitex in the range of 5 to 30. The batt is thermally bonded by subjecting it to an upward flow of a fluid heated to a temperature sufficient to heat the batt to a temperature in excess of the softening temperature of the low softening component but below the softening temperature(s) of the other component(s) of the conjugate fibre to effect inter-fibre bonding. The thermally bonded batt is then cooled by an upward flow of cool air.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1979Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Assignee: Imperial Chemical Industries LimitedInventor: Harold P. Patent number: RE30957Abstract: This is a cipher system for enciphering a stream of binary data by means of a product cipher. A clear message represented in a binary data format is transformed into a cipher message by operating on each bit of clear information with a complex modulo-two addition function. This function is dependent on previous internal cipher digits transmitted and varies for each message bit processed. The function is developed by continually shifting a key matrix under the control of a varying control matrix. The control matrix is formed from the sub-product of the complex function developed in generating each cipher bit.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1980Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Horst Feistel

Patent number: 4332033Abstract: An adjustable dress capable of fitting different size and shaped women. The dress is uniquely formed by front top portions and a front skirt joined by a midriff sash. Back yokes and a shoulder pattern are joined to the front. The back yokes provide the fullness of the back which adjusts to all sizes within a predetermined range. The arrangement and fullness of the patterns forming the dress allow for adjustment to the body within the garment. When the sash is tied by drawing it to the rear on each side, excessive fullness in the front is neatly and evenly draped in accordian fashion between the side seams at the rear by relocating excessive body fabric from the front to the rear where it is held neatly in place by the sash. The resultant dress forms an attractive garment on any size woman within the selected range of measurements.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1980Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Assignee: Uniforms To You & Co.Inventor: Jonathan M. -
Patent number: 4332038Abstract: An artificial hand has a stationary wrist and two fingers and a thumb pivotal from a horizontal axis in the wrist. The thumb may have two separable portions, one of which is pivotal away from the other along a generally vertical axis by manual prepositioning. This enables rounded objects such as doorknobs to be grasped by the curved main finger and the two thumb portions, making stable three-point contact. The two fingers are pivotal along the wrist axis in a fixed range of motion with respect to the thumb, and a spring urges the fingers toward a normal open position. Tension of a sheathed cable fitted to a standard body harness closes the fingers to the thumb, enabling a powerful grip. The second finger is straight and normally remains alongside the curved finger until, upon closure of the curved finger and contact to its tip with the thumb, further cable tension closes the straight finger against the thumb to grip small or flat, thin objects.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1980Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Inventor: John L. Freeland

Patent number: 4332041Abstract: A drainage apparatus for an aircraft lavatory system includes a waste holding tank that receives waste from the individual toilet units. The waste holding tank has a pressurization port and a waste drain opening formed in an upper portion thereof. A blower is coupled to the pressurization port to force air into the tank to pressurize it, thereby forcing waste out of the tank through the waste drain opening. The waste travels through an internal waste drain conduit having a first end located at the bottom of the tank below the level of the waste and a second end coupled to the waste drain opening. Preferably, a flow control device is interposed in fluid communication between the blower and the pressurization port and is operable to direct the flow of air from the blower either into the tank for pressurization or out of the tank to create a partial vacuum within the tank to aid in vacuum flush of the toilet units. An auxiliary pressurization source is also provided in the event of blower failure.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1980Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventor: Bjorn R.
