  • Patent number: RE31011
Abstract: In a trailer landing gear assembly having a housing secured to a trailer and a foot adapted to engage the ground, attachment means for attaching an extension-retraction assembly to both the housing and the landing gear foot by respectively deforming the landing gear housing and the landing gear foot so that the deformations created support the axial load between the extension-retraction assembly and the landing gear. An axle secured to the downwardly depending end of the extension-retraction assembly is rotatably received in a pair of registering apertures formed in the landing gear foot. Each aperture in the landing gear foot is deformed to form a cylindrical portion coaxial with the aperture and integral with the foot so that the cylindrical portion supports the vertical load between the landing gear foot and the extension-retraction assembly. Similarly, a gear base plate forms the attachment means between the upper end of the extension-retraction assembly and the landing gear housing.

  • Patent number: RE31012
Abstract: A fitment for mounting on a vessel or tank .[.constructed of reinforcing filaments such as glass or other fibers located in a resin matrix.].. The fitment includes a platform or top wall which is generally planar and has a pair of generally opposing rectilinear sides. The platform is adapted for supplying a fitting for a hose or nozzle which can be removably attached thereto. Two legs depend from the sides of the platform. A pipe also depends from the central portion of the platform. The ends of the pipe and legs are adapted for securement to the wall of a tank or vessel .[.by bonding resin compatible with the resin of the fitment and the tank.].. The fitment is preferably constructed of layers of glass fiber reinforcing materials.

  • Patent number: RE31014
Abstract: Multicomponent gas mixtures containing: (1) hydrogen as primary component, (2) a secondary key component that is more strongly sorbed by the adsorbent than hydrogen, and (3) a minor quantity of one or more dilute components less strongly sorbed than the secondary key component, are subject to selective adsorption in an adiabatic pressure swing cyclic system for the separate recovery of high purity hydrogen and of the secondary component. A given example is the treatment of a shift converter effluent gas from a hydrocarbon reformer plant, wherein hydrogen and carbon dioxide are separately recovered as key components substantially freed of minor dilute components such as methane, carbon monoxide and nitrogen.

  • Patent number: 4344189
Abstract: In one embodiment, the limb protector is a protective gaiter which extends from the wearer's instep to just below his knee. A portion of the gaiter forms a completely closed pocket which contains an energy absorbing pad. The pocket and the pad are both configured so that the pad fits over and protects the wearer's shinbones, as well as covering many of the major bones and muscles of the wearer's leg. In another embodiment, the limb protector is an arm guard which extends from the wearer's elbow to his wrist. The arm guard includes a tapered sleeve-like element which is sufficiently elastic that it bears tightly about the arm of a user. A pocket is provided in the sleeve-like element to receive a protective pad. Elastic means are provided at both ends of the sleeve-like element to assist in preventing circumferential and longitudinal movement of the protector, even with violent movement of the user's arm.

  • Patent number: 4344190
Abstract: An implant 22, e.g. for locating a hip prosthesis, is placed in the medullary canal 18 of a bone 20 (e.g. the femur) and secured by pressurized cement 24. A push-fit plug 10 prevents cement penetrating down the canal. The plug can be biodegradable so that in time it dissolves away and does not modify the flexural rigidity of the cement/bone system and the risk of fractures occurring at the level of the plug is reduced. Additionally or alternatively, the outwardly facing end portion 16 of the plug may be generally conical so that the thickness of the cement increases gradually and the flexural rigidity likewise changes gradually.

  • Patent number: 4344191
Abstract: A chin implant molded of biologically inert material is surgically inserted and positioned on the outer surface of the mandible to form a build-up of the jaw. The surgical procedure is called a menoplasty. The implant is designed to give a natural contour to the shape of the jaw for patients who have receding chins. The implant has two notches on its upper edge which are adjacent to the mental foramens. The notches allow for physical clearance between the mental nerves and the implant.

  • Patent number: 4344192
Abstract: Full dual element prosthesis designed for the femoro-patellar joint. This invention pertains to a full dual element prosthesis for the femoro-patellar joint, and including a dissymmetrical patellar support.A piece, including a convex surface 24 and attached inside the patella 3, is resting against a tapered surface 28 which is attached to the femur 2 by a lug 29. The surface 28 is perpendicular to the direction of the resulting contact force 13.This full dual element prosthesis is designed for the treatment of the femoro-patellar lesions.

  • Patent number: 4344193
Abstract: A meniscus prosthetic device for a human knee joint can be inserted into the knee joint so that the articulating cartilage in the knee totally remains intact. The prosthesis device translates between the articulating cartilage during normal knee movement. Insertion of the prosthetic device is accomplished by applying force on the ends of the device, thereby elastically spreading them, and placing the device between the tibial articulating cartilage and one of the femoral condyles. The forces thus applied can then be released causing the device to conform to its original C-shape. Prominences on the ends of the device may superiorly extended into the space defined by the femoral condyles, thereby securing the device in place.

The first frame structure has a support surface (2) for a mattress or the like, and between the two frame structures is arranged at least one pivot-arm mechanism (14) for lifting the first frame structure up from the further frame structure and to cause, at the same time, lateral displacement in the width direction of the rectangular support surface and preferably also in its longitudinal direction. In the normal positions of the frame structure, the further frame structure has at least one longitudinally extending side part (24) located inwardly of the nearest side edge (4) of the support surface, and during said lateral displacement said side edge is moved towards and over said side part.
