Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic musical instrument resembling a guitar that is played like a guitar and sounds like a guitar; however, it is stringless and has a plurality of flexible actuator blade type members which are mounted on edge and are adapted to be strummed or picked. Flexing of each actuator blade in either direction closes one or more leaf type switches which controls the amplified output of an electronic oscillator whose fundamental operating frequency is further varied in accordance with finger actuation of a plurality of fret-board switches. Although the invention in its preferred embodiment is directed to a guitar-like instrument, it is also applicable to other types and classes of musical string instruments such as a violin.
Abstract: A curved section is provided for connecting in a conduit through which passes a fluid stream having solid material entrained therein. A plurality of wear strips are attached to the inside wall of the curved section. They are positioned for the solid material to impinge thereon as the fluid stream changes its direction of flow as it passes through the curved section. The wear strips are elongated members of wear resistant material positioned side-by-side along the inside wall against which the solid material impinges. The abutting sides of adjacent wear strips are beveled so that the outer edges of one adjacent strip extends over the inner edge of the other adjacent strip to provide a continuous surface of wear resistant material in the path of the entrained solid material.
Abstract: The invention contemplates a propel-repel container for cosmetic or the like substance wherein the color of the substance may be externally viewable at a location near the point of cosmetic-substance support, without requiring the container to be opened or the substance to be propelled from its retracted position within the container.

Abstract: Resinous compositions which are the Michael adducts of primary and/or secondary amines and polymers containing alpha, beta-ethylenically unsaturated moieties in conjugation with carbonyl moieties are disclosed. The compositions are depositable on substrates to form films. The films are amenable to oxidative and aminoplast cures and cure with light color. The compositions are desirable for use in cationic electrodeposition.

Abstract: A baseball mitt comprising front and back plies forming a mitt body having thumb portion, a finger portion and a portion connecting the thumb and finger portions, and a glove secured to the back of the body with the front of the glove facing the back ply. The glove has a thumb stall disposed generally behind the thumb portion of the body, at least one finger stall disposed generally behind the finger portion of the body, a crotch portion between the thumb and finger stalls, a palm portion, and a hand-receiving opening adjacent the bottom of the mitt. The glove is joined to the mitt body at the periphery of the hand-receiving opening and at the ends of the thumb and finger stalls, but is free of attachment to the body at its palm portion, thereby providing freedom of movement of the palm portion of the glove relative to the mitt body for increasing the flexibility of the mitt.
Abstract: A contact lens (14) for insertion into the cornea (20) of a patient is provided. The contact lens (14) includes a circular portion of a donor cornea (10) anteriorly curved for correction of the patient's vision. The contact lens (14) is posteriorly ground (16) to correspond to the curvature of the patient's eye. The posterior portion (16) of the lens (14) includes a depending axially posteriorly directed integral ring (18) for insertion into and retention by the patient's cornea (20).
Abstract: This invention relates to a float controlled dispenser for automatically releasing predetermined amounts of a detergent or a bacteriostatic liquid into the flush tank of a toilet bowl whenever the bowl is flushed. The dispenser comprises a bottle necked container mounted in an inverted position in the flush tank and a dispensing valve assembly consisting of a plug having a tapered end and force fitted into the neck portion of the bottle, said plug having a central orifice circumscribed by an annular planar valve seat and of a bell shaped float member having an annular measuring chamber in which is centrally located a vertical fluted stem projection for limiting the float's up and down movement within the plug's central orifice. The base of the stem projection is circumscribed by an annular planar surface for sealing contact with the plug's planar annular surface.

Abstract: A swimming pool inlet location control is presented. The control comprises a flexible tube which is coupled between the prior art swimming pool inlet and the location where it is desired to bring in the incoming water. The flexible tube includes coupled to it a weight and a float which are utilized by the operator to place the inlet at exactly the point where it is desired. The tube includes a variable size quick release coupling means capable of coupling an adaptable to all pool return lines.
Abstract: An arrangement for bathing invalids, or others with impaired ambulatory ability, comprises an enclosure having a bathtub with upstanding walls which form a stall. The bathtub includes a seat having an anatomical contour and a lateral opening adjacent the seat to permit invalid ingress and egress. A door with a generally wedge-shaped contour mates with and selectively closes the bathtub opening, and includes a seal compressed between the opening lip and the door to form a seal which is sufficiently leakproof to permit immersal bathing of a seated invalid. The door is slideably mounted on a hingeless track assembly, which vertically translates the door into the closed position and pivots the door as it is raised into a horizontal, overhead storage position. Shower heads are mounted on the walls of the stall to provide both shower and immersal bathing for hygiene and therapy.

Abstract: A mattress, adapted to benefit an occupant in the prone position, having a convexity in the head and torso support area, means for producing a rising and falling motion of the convex support surface, and a sound projecting means located within the convexity and connected with a record player. The surface of the convexity may be "laterally ventilating." The means for causing the rising and falling motion may be fluid dynamic devices driven by motorized reciprocating mechanism or it may be fully mechanical. The leg support surfaces are at least in part lower than the convex support surface and may be separated by a narrow elevation positioned to act as a stop or seat to prevent the occupant from slipping from the convexity. The object is to provide an atmosphere of healthful tranquility for the occupant. It is particularly advantageous for use with a young infant or a mental patient.
Abstract: A quick release Fowler for hospital stretchers of the manual as opposed to the crank actuated type. A ratchet bar attached to the frame is provided with a sliding block and a pin that fits into slots in the ratchet bar. The pin is operated with respect to the slots remotely by a cable attached to a trigger/handle assembly at the head end of the Fowler. Safety means are provided so that the Fowler cannot be inadvertently lowered without the attendant assuming the weight of the Fowler, with or without a patient thereon, himself. The ratchet bar also permits a 90.degree. raised position of the Fowler to the stretcher top.
Abstract: An adjustable upper body rest is disclosed which is intended primarily for supporting the upper body while lying face down with the head turned to the right or left side to any degree up to approximately forty five degrees. A forehead rest consists of one or two members along with a lower face rest providing a variation of open areas for the eyes, nose and mouth, together with movable right and left shoulder support members permitting adjustment to differing body dimensions and allowing proper weight distribution, unrestricted breathing and body comfort while lying face down or on the right or left side. The upper body rest is prepared for lying on the right or left side very simply by turning the shoulder rests bottom up which provides a suitable higher elevation for the head as well as one arm.
Abstract: A flotation mattress comprising an outer jacket of supple flexible sheet plastic having normally flat vertically spaced top and bottom walls and vertical side and end walls and a plurality of elongate bladders of supple flexible sheet plastic with top, bottom, side and end walls arranged within the jacket in parallel side-by-side relationship with each other and slackly filled with water, the dimensions of the related and assembled bladders being substantially the same as the dimensions of the jacket whereby the bladders are captively retained in assembled relationship and are reinforced by the jacket. The jacket has a plurality of elongate, vertical parallel partitions, each occurring between a pair of adjacent bladders and stopping displacement of the bladders within the jacket.
