Patent number: 4352270Abstract: A method and apparatus for extracting steam from a steam turbine and adjusting the temperature and pressure for a process. Steam is extracted from the first section of the turbine and is throttled to a desired pressure for use in the process. After the extracted steam is throttled it is transmitted to a suction port of a jet pump. If the pressure of the extracted steam entering the jet pump suction port is less than the desired process pressure, high pressure steam is routed to an inlet port of the jet pump. Steam leaving the jet pump may be desuperheated. Regulation of the steam flow between the first and second section turbines increased extraction pressure. At some point total efficiency of turbine operation and process operation can be improved by extracting steam from a second, higher pressure extraction location.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1980Date of Patent: October 5, 1982Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventor: George J. Patent number: 4352272Abstract: The invention provides a heat pump system employing a refrigerant charged space and including at least two evaporators, one of which is an ambient air head absorber, and the other of which can be of the same type, or of the type obtaining heat from solar insolation, water, ground heat, etc. The coil or coils of an ambient air absorber must be defrosted periodically. In the system of the invention defrost heat is applied to the evaporator coil or coils while the compressor is operating, such defrost heat causing vaporization of the refrigerant therein. The system includes a pressure containment valve between the evaporator and the compressor that maintains the vapor pressure of the vaporizing liquid in the coil above the value at which the ice will readily melt, the valve releasing excess vapor to the compressor and then to the condenser which discharges the heat to the space to be heated. Thus, the only part of the defrost heat lost from the system is that required to melt the ice.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1980Date of Patent: October 5, 1982Inventor: James W. Taplay

Patent number: 4352307Abstract: Socket member storage means for a set of interchangeable sockets of a socket wrench has a longitudinal wall defining a long, narrow storage cavity which has an entrance opening along one side and which is divided into several distinct portions, each of which receives one socket member of a set. A resilient member in each portion of the storage cavity frictionally grips and retains one socket member, and each of the resilient members has an extremity projecting above a side of the wall by means of which it may be flexed outwardly to release the one socket member for removal from the storage cavity independently of any other socket member. Preferably the longitudinal wall provides the handle of the wrench.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1981Date of Patent: October 5, 1982Inventor: Werner W. Martinmaas

Patent number: 4352312Abstract: A method and apparatus for interpolating between the harmonic structures of a waveform stored in memory during the transient periods of said waveform. In an electronic musical instrument having a greater number of selectively actuable switches than generators to cause the production of sound corresponding to the respective notes of the musical scale the present invention interpolates between the harmonic structures of a waveform stored in memory during the transient period of that waveform. This is accomplished through the use of memory units having a number of locations or zones within each memory where the number of zones is equivalent to the number of discrete harmonic structures. The first of the memory units contains a discrete fixed harmonic structure in each of its zones, and a second of the memory units contains a difference value in each of its zones where the difference value is equal to the difference between the discrete fixed harmonic structure in adjacent zones of the first memory.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1981Date of Patent: October 5, 1982Assignee: Allen Organ CompanyInventors: John T.
