  • Patent number: 4412450
Abstract: An arrangement for determining the level in a container includes a capacitive probe disposed in the container, a measuring transducer arranged in the vicinity of the container, and a remote evaluation apparatus. The measuring transducer produces a signal corresponding to the capacitance between the probe and the container. This signal, which is indicative of the level in the container, is transmitted from the transducer to the evaluation apparatus via a two-wire line, which also transmits the current supply DC voltage from the evaluation apparatus to the transducer. The transducer includes a switch for periodically switching from the probe capacitance to a test capacitance. The evaluation apparatus comprises a time control circuit which periodically varies or interrupts the DC voltage on the two-wire line, and the transducer includes a control circuit which responds to the voltage changes to actuate the switch.

  • Patent number: 4412451
Abstract: The average particle size for particles distributed in a slurry is determined by transmitting at least one beam of ultrasonic rays of a certain frequency into the slurry, detecting, by separate detector means, on one hand ultrasonic radiation that passes through the slurry and, on the other hand, ultrasonic radiation scattered in the slurry, said detector means forming first and second signals corresponding to the intensities of the passed-through and the scattered radiation respectively, determining the scattering attenuation factor on the basis of said first and second signals and the total attenuation factor by using the intensity of passed-through radiation obtained with pure water, and determining the particle size with the help of the scattering attenuation factor, whereby the radio of said factor and the total attenuation factor is formed in order to eliminate influence of the slurry density.

  • Patent number: 4412453
Abstract: A method for detecting brazing defects in a plate-fin type heat exchanger with a brazed core structure having a number of wavy fin members alternately with a number of parallelly spaced plate members, in which a pulsed sound in the frequency range of several tens KHz to several hundreds KHz is transmitted across the fin and plate members from a pulser located on one outermost plate member to a sensor located on the other outermost plate member, detecting the positions and sizes of brazing defects two-dimensionally on a plane on the basis of the level of sound received by the sensor. Three-dimensional detection of the position of the defect is also possible by combining therewith a radiographic inspection using a radiant ray source which is located on one lateral side of the core structure to irradiate a radiant ray in a direction substantially parallel with the plate members of the core structure.

  • Patent number: 4412458
Abstract: The parking brake mechanism includes a simplified equalizer having one end pivotally attached to a bracket on a part of the vehicle underbody. The other end of the equalizer lever receives the end of the cable from the parking brake foot pedal or hand lever. The cable end has a threaded member thereon which extends through an aperture in the end of the equalizer lever. An adjuster lock nut is attached to the threaded member to provide adjustment for the entire parking brake mechanism at this point. The equalizer lever is slightly V-shaped so that the center portion extends toward the rear of the vehicle. A parking brake cable extending from the left rear brake passes around the lever at the center portion, is retained on the lever by a lanced tab portion made from part of the lever, and then extends to the right rear parking brake. This provides a simplified yoke arrangement which eliminates parts and has a simpler adjusting mechanism than devices earlier used.

  • Patent number: 4412471
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument includes first and second ROM's addressable for producing respective two-bar musical patterns representing independent automatic rhythm and music style features. Both ROM's are operable in response to a common clock signal to facilitate synchronous operation thereof regardless of the order in which the two features are played. In particular, the states of a rhythm counter clocked by the clock signal are decoded for generating a first control code tracking the extent of completion of the two-bar automatic rhythm pattern, the first control code being used to initialize start-up of the music style pattern during a performance of the automatic rhythm feature to insure completion of the two musical patterns in time coincidence. Upon start-up of the automatic rhythm feature during a performance of the music style pattern, a second control code is calculated to initiate the automatic rhythm pattern to insure time coincidental completion of the two musical patterns.

The carrier is integral with a cylindrical part connected with a first cylinder. Two concentric cylinders, positioned around the first cylinder at either side thereof, deform annular parts of resilient material and press these annular parts against the raised edge part when, on the one hand, the first cylinder and, on the other hand, the two concentric cylinders are moved with respect to each other. The coloring composition may also be carried by a layer-shaped carrier material.

Abstract: An automatic printing machine including an automatic plate loading device wherein a water duct mechanism is first activated after which a form roller mechanism is operated to cause form rollers to contact a plate cylinder. After this, the plate loading device forms a plate loading operation in which an original plate is satisfactorily fitted onto the plate cylinder wherein the plate surface is prevented from being contaminated by ink. Satisfactory printing results are obtained as soon as the plate is loaded onto the plate cylinder so that the first printing sheet is satisfactory and there is no waste of printing sheets.

  • Patent number: 4412490
Abstract: A paper web guiding mechanism for printing units in a rotary web-fed printing machine is disclosed. Each printing unit has associated therewith a pivotable paper web guide frame which is comprised generally of spaced side plates. Each side plate is rotatably secured at its lower end to a longitudinal support member of the printing unit so that the paper guide frame can be pivoted between inclined and vertical positions. Paper guide rollers are held between the spaced side plates at the upper and lower ends of the paper guide frame to define a path of paper web travel. A cover sheet extends between the side plates from their upper ends downwardly to a point above the lower ends. This cover sheet supports the body of a press operator who is thus afforded access to various components of the printing units without necessitating severing of the paper web. An operating floor pedestal is placed between the lower ends of the side plates and the press operator can stand on this pedestal.

Abstract: An explosive logic safing device for increasing the safety and reliability f a detonation signal from a fuze to an explosive charge. The safing device is provided with an inlet explosive trail which conveys an inlet detonation signal to an outlet explosive trail and the primary explosive charge. A control explosive trail connects the inlet explosive trail and the outlet explosive trail. A failure explosive trail is connected between the control explosive trail and the outlet explosive trail, and is provided with an explosive logic network for conveying the inlet detonation signal from the inlet explosive trail to the outlet explosive trail when a plurality of detonators are properly initiated. The explosive logic network is also provided with a means for registering the successive initiation failures of individual detonators.

Abstract: A device for driving at least one of a plurality of thread levers on multi-needle embroidery machines in which the thread levers of the needles which are disconnected at the time can be uncoupled from a oscillating drive shaft by displaceable coupling elements. In order to obtain an enclosed accident-proof development of the coupling elements at the same time with high reliability in operation and only slight wear, the thread levers are arranged on coupling sleeves, which sleeves surround the drive shaft, are mounted in common in a housing and are displaceable with the housing in the longitudinal direction of the drive shaft. Furthermore, at least one coupling sleeve can be coupled to the drive shaft by means of a coupling piece fastened to the drive shaft, while the other coupling sleeves (4) are held fast in non-turnable manner together with the housing by holding bars which extend into a groove of the sleeves, the bars being fixed in position and extending parallel to the drive shaft.
