Patent number: RE31586Abstract: A fluid pump mechanism for delivering a smooth output of fluids to a system utilizing at least one piston in a chamber reciprocative therewithin. The piston has strokes that fill and empty the chamber in conjunction with the action of valve means located at the inlet and outlet of the chamber. Motive means causes reciprocation of the piston within the chamber. Control means is also included for minimizing the time during the piston cycle in which the piston is not emptying the chamber. The invention's scope also encompasses a pressure metering device for a fluid forcing means motivated by an electrical motor.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1981Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Assignee: Altex Scientific, Inc.Inventor: Haakon T. Patent number: 4447911Abstract: A unitary garment generally known as a "jump suit" having hidden access flaps in the seat portion which can be easily opened and closed to allow the wearer to use toilet facilities without completely removing the garment. The access flaps are formed from a horizontal separation across the garment back at the waist and an invisible zipper which starts at the crotch rear area and extends vertically to and intersects the waistline area at the separation. A piece of elasticized material is attached to the garment above the separation and extends downward and covers the separation when the zipper is closed. A plurality of snaps or hook fasteners are spaced apart along the edges of the waist separation to secure the flaps to the upper waist portion of the garment. In another embodiment the elasticized material is integral the garment, giving even a more finished appearance to the garment.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1980Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Inventor: Irene C. Patent number: 4447912Abstract: A prosthetic device to enable persons incapable of proper control of their fingers to manipulate objects such as brushes, pencils, or toys. It resembles a partial glove, covering only the palm, held in place with straps around the back of the hand. It uses hook and loop pile (Velcro for example) both to fasten the straps to the body and as a patch on the palm side to which objects fitted with mating pile can be attached. One strap is long enough to provide added support by passing over the handle of the object. A separate patch with a ring in the center is described--this works better for grasping reasonably rigid, extensive objects like balls.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1983Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Assignee: Philip A. Patent number: 4447918Abstract: In a pop-up drain fitting threadedly secured to a spider at the lower end of the drain body, the improvement comprising a detent member pivotally joined to the lower end of the pop-up drain fitting. A stop member is disposed adjacent to the detent member to permit the detent member rotation in only one direction. The detent member depends downwardly by gravitational force to extend through the spider. Clockwise threading motion of the pop-up fitting into the drain body is permitted by the detent arm; counterclockwise rotation of the pop-up fitting causes the spider to impinge upon the detent arm and drive it into the stop member, thereby preventing removal of the pop-up fitting.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1982Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Inventor: Casper Cuschera

Patent number: 4447949Abstract: A tool for use in stripping plastic sheath from electrical cable has first and second handles pivotally connected in a scissor-like configuration so that each handle has a grip portion and a jaw portion. Each jaw portion carries a jaw element with a transverse cutting blade and a longitudinal slitting blade. The cable is inserted between the jaw elements so that it extends through the tool between and generally parallel to the handles. When the grip portions are moved together, the jaw elements engage the cable so that each transverse blade makes a transverse cut through the plastic sheath. At the same time each longitudinal blade makes a slit in the plastic sheath near the transverse cut. The tool is then pulled toward a free end of the cable so that each longitudinal blade slits the plastic sheath to the free end. The transverse blades are pivotally mounted on the jaw elements so that they swing away from their cutting position when the tool is moved along the cable.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1982Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Inventor: Michael W. Patent number: 4447955Abstract: During the measurement of the length of filamentary materials, for instance a yarn, which is wound into a cross-wound package which is driven by a grooved drum, appreciable errors arise because there is not taken into account slippage. Therefore, with the present method during the winding operation the slip, which is governed by the relationship of the circumferential velocities of the grooved drum and the cross-wound package, is continuously measured in successive time intervals, and there is undertaken a correction of the yarn length determined without taking into account the slip. Thus, sensors continuously measure the rotational speeds of the cross-wound package and the grooved drum, and an angle measuring device determines the diameter of the cross-wound package, these measuring results then being inputted to an evaluation circuit. In the evaluation circuit there is computed the slip and such is incorporated into the length measurement.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1982Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Assignee: Loepfe Brothers LimitedInventors: Hansruedi Stutz, Karl Lapp

Patent number: 4447957Abstract: The device for sensing the outer diameter of a roll of web upon unwinding of the web from the roll for the actuation of a control member when the diameter of the roll has been reduced to a predetermined minimum diameter, comprises a follower arm capable of swinging movement to-and-fro in the direction of the axis of the roll around a fixed axis and urged in the direction of the said roll axis. The swinging movement of the follower arm controls the actuation of a control member. The follower arm carries a feeler element intended to bear against the circumferential surface of the web roll, and the said feeler element is constructed as a gauging fork or snap gauge having a pair of arms which are spaced between each other of a predetermined distance, in such a manner that the clear distance or clearance between the said two arms corresponds to the predetermined minimum diameter of the roll.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1982Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Assignee: SASIB S.p.A.Inventor: Roberto Cavazza

Patent number: 4447958Abstract: A touch sensor which is used to examine the machining accuracy of articles to be worked or used in a numerical control tool machine with an automatic tool converter (ATC) known as the machining center comprising a sensor rod which contacts the workpiece and detects the position to be worked, a plunger which shifts the displacement of the sensor rod to a rectilinear motion, a globe joint portion which is provided between the sensor rod and the plunger, a flange portion provided at the rear end portion of the sensor rod and a sensing device connected to the flange portion. In the touch sensor of the present invention, the displacement of the sensor rod is detected with the sensing device through the flange portion, the detecting signals are transmitted to a memory or the numerical control tool machine and in this way the machining accuracy of the workpiece or position to be worked can be detected automatically and exactly.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1982Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Assignee: Daishowa Seiki Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yuzuru Tanaka
