  • Patent number: 4527322
Abstract: A process for repairing a hydraulic line having a damaged end section. The damaged end section is severed from the line and a male or female coupling member is formed in the new end. This is accomplished by reducing the wall thickness by increasing the inside diameter (female coupling member) or decreasing the outside diameter (male coupling member). A tubular tip is provided having a major portion the same length as the severed section and an end portion that is an extension of the major portion with a reduced wall thickness forming a male or female coupling member opposite that formed in the end of the tube. Coupling is achieved to regenerate the end section with a consistent inside and outside diameter along the tube and across the coupling intersection.

  • Patent number: 4527324
Abstract: Described is a machine for pre-gluing raw circuit surfaces of printed circuit boards (P.C. boards) at an adhesive station and properly positioning the P.C. boards at a placement station for placement of leadless electronic components (chips) onto the adhesive. A carousel provides program preselected vertical supply of taped components to a feeder assembly which feeds individual chips onto a nozzle of a turret-type vacuum head at a pick-up station. The turret-type head has four nozzles spaced 90.degree. apart about the central axis of the head. As the turret is rotated, a chip is transported by a nozzle, sequentially, from the pick-up station to a centering and testing station, a centering and orienting station, and a placement station. Located between the testing and orienting stations is a chip removal station for ejecting defective or inverted chips. Sensors are located at the adhesive and placement stations to detect defective P.C. boards so that they may be bypassed.

  • Patent number: 4527325
Abstract: A process is provided for fabricating a semiconductor structure wherein the structure has to be exposed to certain oxidizing conditions during certain of its processing steps, such as its high temperature annealing in an oxidizing ambient. It includes depositing a "sacrificial" layer, such as silicon, to provide a uniformly oxidizing surface during subsequent annealing operations. This sacrificial layer, which oxidizes uniformly, produces an oxide layer which also etches uniformly. Thus, after the annealing is completed, the surface oxide is removed through etching and the sacrificial layer is then also removed through a different etching step.

Abstract: An in-line sander for hand held operation and having a housing in which a rotating electric motor drives a drive shaft to rotate on a first axis, with a second axis of the drive shaft canted to the first axis and supporting a bearing thereon. A bearing housing is supported on the bearing to orbit therewith, the bearing housing having an arm extending to a platen support and extensibly and pivotably connected to a portion thereof. This orbiting of the bearing housing influences motion of the platen support in accordance with the angle of the cone described by the second axis of the drive shaft. The platen support is made of a resilient material and carried by the housing on legs extending to a base portion, which legs have a low moment of inertia in the direction of in-line sanding, and a high moment of inertia normal to the direction of in-line sanding, so as to be disposed to motion in the in-line sanding path only.

  • Patent number: 4527367
Abstract: The invention relates to a spiral staircase which features adjustable rise, and whose structure is obtained by the assembly in reciprocal fashion of identical modular components (1) fitted one on top of the next, each component comprising a cylindrical section (2), to which either a step (4) or the support (3) for a separate tread (4) is fixed direct. Each cylindrical section (2) consists of an upper part (6) and a lower part (7), these coaxially disposed and provided with means for their being paired by screwing, as well as with alignment-surfaces which enable the upper part of each component (1) to insert coaxially into the lower part (7) of any of the other components (1), thus remaining stably associated therewith following assembly and creating a single, solid structure in consequence. The type of pairing envisaged permits adjustment of the stair rise--that is, the distance between two successive treads, and therefore between the two modular components themselves, once assembled.
