  • Patent number: 4531473
Abstract: A service tool for a valve and visual low pressure indicating assembly for a pressurized container and particularly of a type adapted for operative association with a pneumatic vehicle tire, while being applicable generally to other containers enclosing a fluid under pressure. The pressure indicating valve and assembly serves as means for insertion, or removal, of fluid under pressure from the container, but further, and of substantial significance, serves to externally visually indicate a condition of low or diminished fluid pressure within a tire or other container. The new pressure indicating valve assembly constitutes a replacement for known valve structures and, due to an entirely different construction and operation, creates a need for the tool structure of the present invention, to implement and facilitate servicing of the novel pressure indicating valve structure assembly.

  • Patent number: 4531476
Abstract: An apparatus utilizing cryogenic material to brand the hide of a live animal. The apparatus includes a cup-shaped applicator having a mechanism for defining an aperture of varying configuration in accordance with a desired brand insignia and a mechanism to retain the cryogenic material and to prevent exposure of the animal hide to the cryogenic material except at the aperture. The orifice perimeter is pressed into contact with the hide of the animal to be marked. The cryogenic material retained by the applicator passes through the aperture and contacts an area of animal hide conforming to the configuration of the aperture. The cryogenic material freezes this area of hide long enough to kill the pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) of the hair. The hair in the exposed area is replaced by a growth of white hair, creating a permanent and discernible brand of desired configuration.

  • Patent number: 4531485
Abstract: An over ride oil pump for use with reciprocating or rotary engines which provides auxiliary oil pumping under three circumstances by use of an electrically operated oil pump, digital circuitry and sensors. As a car is started the standard mechanical oil pump cannot provide adequate lubrication since the mechanical pump can only pump at a rate proportional to engine speed. The over ride pump begins immediately, upon initiation of engine start up. Under conditions of high RPM operation extra lubrication is required. The over ride oil pump senses increased vacuum levels and provides additional oil delivery. Oil pressure drops rapidly if there is a failure in the mechanical pump drive mechanism or the pump itself. The over ride oil pump senses this deficiency and provided the necessary oil delivery.

  • Patent number: 4531492
Abstract: Fuel injection devices are used for injecting fuel into the combustion chambers of compression ignition engines. It is desirable to isolate the mechanical drive for fuel injection timing from the flow path of high pressure fuel to minimize the seepage of fuel into the fluid lubricating the mechanical drive while using only one speed responsive device for both the timing and governing functions. The subject fuel injection apparatus includes a planetary gear arrangement having a ring gear to change the timing phase relationship between a distributor rotor and a delivery passage which communicates the pump section with the rotor. A metering collar is adapted to meter the quantity of fuel delivered by the rotor to the outlet ports. Both the ring gear and the metering collar are mechanically connected to an element of a single flyweight assembly. The metering collar is widely spaced from the planetary gear arrangement to minimize the leakage of fuel into the lubricating fluid.

  • Patent number: 4531494
Abstract: Previously disclosed distributor fuel injection pumps for internal combustion engines offer the advantages of reduced size, weight, and cost of a fuel injection system. However, these pumps have not been able to provide relatively high fuel injection pressures which could improve fuel combustion for better fuel economy and lower noxious emissions. In contrast, the subject distributor fuel injection pump generates relatively high fuel injection pressures in a relatively compact arrangement. A semi-spherical nutator member freely rotatably mounted on an oblique journal of a drive shaft imparts high speed harmonic motion to at least one reciprocating pump plunger for pressurizing the fuel. A relatively large semi-spherical bearing interface between the nutator member and a pump housing accommodates very high pumping reaction loads.

  • Patent number: 4531510
Abstract: The invention relates to a bidirectional thermal siphon-valve operating by natural convection. It further relates to an installation for the production and storage of heat or cold comprising such a thermal siphon-valve, preferably with a continuously operating pump. The thermal siphon-valve functions to direct a heat-transfer fluid toward one of two hydraulic circuits, or to divide it between the two circuits, on the basis of its temperature. It is distinguished by the fact that it comprises an entirely internally open tubular body (14) with a vertical axis which is provided with at least one inlet orifice (10a) for the heat-transfer fluid, located substantially in its middle portion, and two outlet orifices (10b, 10c) for the heat-transfer fluid, located in its lower and upper portions, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4531511
Abstract: A form of insulation is disclosed that takes up less room and is more efficient than insulation currently available. It has several modes of use that make it more versatile than conventional insulation. The insulation is formed from a pair of surfaces that are sealed to each other at all edges to form an enclosed chamber, a honeycomb, a cellular matrix, or truss structure is inside the said chamber, separating the surfaces. Said chamber is evacuated and the surfaces that face the chamber are constructed to be of low emittance so as to provide an insulation that significantly inhibits the transference of heat in any manner. By using a material with a high absorbtion and low emittance on one surface and a material with high emittance and low absorbtion on the opposite surface, heat can be transferred easily in one direction but poorly in the other direction, thus acting as a thermal diode.

Abstract: A removable handle for a roller massager of the type that includes a series of roller rows connected into a massager unit through use of straps oriented along each side of the matrix. The straps interconnect the rollers' axles one with the other to establish the roller matrix. The removable handle is a one piece molded handle that carries a series of connector brackets hingedly mounted along each side. Each connector bracket is adapted to interconnect with a strap and an axle to prevent longitudinal, transverse and normal motion of the handle relative to the roller plane. These interconnections permit the handle to be connected with or disconnected from the roller massager as desired by the user.
