  • Patent number: 4564996
Abstract: An apparatus for working on the leads of electronic or electric components which is adapted to handle the components in a loose condition by way of a slide or in a bandoliered form. Bandoliered components have a regular spacing which is generally much smaller than the motion of tools in the direction of supply of the components, with the size of the motion being geared to the spacing between loosely supplied components. A tool group is moved backwards and forwards along the line of supply of the components, while the tools in the group are moved towards and away from each other. A limiting structure, which may be put into and out of operation, has the effect of overriding that is to say decreasing or completely stopping, the backward and forward motion of the tool group geared to the spacing of loose components.

  • Patent number: 4565004
Abstract: A multipurpose tool useful in the construction of stained glass windows is described. The tool comprises a stiff, short blade having a curved cutting portion which sweeps around the end. The blade is provided with a short frusto-conically shaped handled which, in the preferred embodiment, comprises an inner core portion fabricated preferably of a heavy material and an outer sleeve portion fabricated preferably of wood, plastic or hard rubber. When used as a knife to cut lead came, the short construction of the present invention permits the end of the handle to be placed in the palm of the hand with the thumb and fingers placed generally parallel to the length of the handle along the sides of the handle as well as on the sides and back of the blade. This permits the entire strength of the arm, rather than merely the wrist, to be used for cutting the lead came, while permitting the hand to be still placed close to the lead channel being cut so that precise control over the tool can be maintained.

  • Patent number: 4565010
Abstract: An angular orientation detector and indicator has a plumb bob suspended in a vertically extending chamber of a housing. A beam of radiation is emitted across the chamber from a beam emitter to a beam receiver and the plumb bob is swingable through a beam path extending between the emitter and receiver. When the housing of the detector is positioned in a preselected angular orientation the plumb bob comes to rest blocking the beam path to substantially reduce or prevent the radiated beam from being received by the receiver. An electrically actuated signal, such as an audible or visual signal, or both, is thereby actuated to indicate that the detector is at a preselected angular orientation. Such detectors may be mounted on builder's levels to indicate when the level is in a preselected angular orientation, such as a horizontal or vertical orientation. Other embodiments and useful applications of such detectors are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4565017
Abstract: A ski boot has a base element forming sole, toe and instep portions and which mounts a shin cuff element, a calf cuff element, and a heel seat element with three triangularly located hinging connections. The heel seat element engages a wearer's heel to aid in closure of the cuff elements and to facilitate removal of the boot. A cuff closure automatically engages when the cuff elements are moved to closed positions, and is readily releasable for ease in boot removal. An adjustable instep closure automatically tightens, by way of strap elements coupled with the rear cuff element, upon closure of the boot. The closure mechanism relaxes the instep closure tension when the skier leans forward. The shin cuff element and the toe portion of the base element movably and replaceably seat a forward lean control element so that it may readily be removed and replaced, and the mounting can be adjustable for selecting the forward lean resistance.

  • Patent number: 4565038
Abstract: A guy yoke for use in a guyed structure terminate two support guys coupled to said structure and to transfer loads entered on said supported guys to anchor means, said guy yokes includes two arms pivotally coupled to an anchor plate at one end and coupled to guy wires at the other end. A spreader arm is coupled to the arms to maintain them in a fixed position for forces transmitted by the guy lines which are below a predetermined level. The spreader arm is coupled to the two arms by shear bolts or pins. When the forces transmitted to the yoke are at or exceed the predetermined level, one or both of the shear bolts or pins is severed permitting the two arms to swing toward each other and thereby add effective length to the guying.

  • Patent number: 4565041
Abstract: A base trim attachment assembly is provided for movable partitions comprising retainer clips having formed barbs which are installed into gypsum panels by pressing the barbs into the panels, and having means for receiving a nail which is driven on a downward angle into the panels. The nails prevent outward movement of the clips and the barbs restrict any upward movement which would normally permit loosening of the nails. After the clips are installed, the base is slipped down over the clips until it snaps in place. The present structure permits a very thin base which matches existing moveable partition components.
