  • Patent number: 4616444
Abstract: A swinging gate is operated in one direction between open and closed positions by a winch and cable system driven by an electric motor which may be controlled remotely by radio, the winch and motor being carried on a support arm extending from a gatepost on one side of the gate. The gate is operated in the other direction by a falling weight connected to the gate by a cable extending around a pulley on a second support arm extending from the gatepost. The weight is raised when the gate is moved in the one direction by the winch and cable system and is held in raised position by the winch and cable while the gate remains in one of the open and closed positions. When the gate is to be moved in the other direction, the winch is released and the weight is allowed to fall. In a modification of the invention, the winch and cable system and weight are replaced by a reversible electrically operated linear actuator connected between the gate and a support arm extending from the gatepost.

  • Patent number: 4616447
Abstract: In uninterrupted and neat machining of a workpiece or material, particularly extremely hard material, with an ultrosonic tool is obtained by keeping constant or substantially constant the contact pressure between the tool and the worked surface. This is done, for example, by feeding the tool by means of a spindle sleeve which is mounted for displacement in a feed head. The other end of the spindle sleeve, remote from the tool, is designed as the piston of a feed mechanism. By keeping the pressure P1 in the cylinder space above piston, or the volume of this cylinder space, constant, the contact pressure of the tool remains constant as desired. Since the piston displaced during the matching operation, this displacement must be determined, by means of a displacement pickup, for example. Through a very sensitive contact pressure control on a feed head of the working machine, to which the cylinder of the feed mechanism is secured, can be moved to keep the volume of or pressure in the cylinder space constant.

The other member of the pump is an input and the other member of the motor which is not rigidly coupled is the output member. Reduction gearing is provided between the coupled members and the output member. A fluid flow control means provides an infinitely adjustable control of fluid through the pump and the motor and allows the speed of rotation of the driven output member to be varied in infinitely adjustable fashion. A direct drive can be achieved by disengaging the reduction gearing so that the shafts and housings of both the pump and motor will all turn at the same speed as if they were one single unit.

  • Patent number: 4616479
Abstract: The invention relates to a power control system for a hot gas engine in which the power depends on the mean working gas pressure in the engine. Said engine is of the type having an even number of working gas charges separated by pistons each having two axially displaced piston rings. Said piston rings and their piston ring grooves are shaped to act as check valves and so that in each other piston the space between the piston rings will contain gas of maximum working cycle pressure whereas in the remaining pistons it will be minimum working cycle pressure.

  • Patent number: 4616480
Abstract: A control for the engagement and disengagement of an exhaust gas turbocharger in which the charging air pressure of the internal combustion engine is used as control magnitude for the engagement and disengagement. Unfortunately, this charging air pressure exhibits oscillations with large amplitudes after each engagement and disengagement which could trigger faulty shifting operations in the control. To alleviate this problem, the control line (44) between the charging-air line and the control slide valve members (40, 41) is always closed off when these oscillations occur and their negative effects on the control are thereby prevented.

  • Patent number: 4616484
Abstract: A refrigerant heating and cooling system for a motor vehicle includes an inside coil, an outside coil, expansion valves, a reversing valve, a refrigerant compressor, a chiller and a control device. The compressor, outside coil, an expansion valve and the inside coil define a first circuit for cooling the air within the vehicle. The compressor, inside coil, an expansion valve and the chiller define a second circuit for heating the interior of the vehicle. The chiller is a refrigerant-to-engine coolant heat exchanger. When in the heating mode, the chiller functions as an evaporator, the inside coil functions as a condenser and the engine coolant system is the heat source. The control device varies the flow of the engine coolant through the chiller as a function of the engine coolant temperature in order to maintain a relatively constant set temperature within the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4616491
Abstract: A special type of key is made use of to actuate an electronically triggered release mechanism to unlock a door. To enable the electronic means to function, insertion of the key in the keyway initially closes a switch to energize the electronic circuit. Also when the key reaches the switch closing position, a read head for the electronic circuit, located adjacent the keyway, interprets magnetic coding carried by the key. The electronic circuit is programmed to motivate a motor driven mechanism to move a locking pin out of engagement with a latch bolt where the latch bolt has been acting to hold a door locked. Once the locking pin has been removed, the latch bolt is in fact withdrawn from its locked position by rotation of the key in a substantially normal fashion.

  • Patent number: 4616492
Abstract: The combination lock is one wherein movable members of the combination mechanism are set in decoding position by a key in the form of a rotatable shaft with a head at one end serving as a handle. Rotation of the key to proper decoding position is determined by shifting an index mark on the key relative to selected units of a set of letters or numerals on the lock housing. The combination mechanism makes use of a multiple number of pairs of discs concealed in the housing which must be successively set in proper decoding position, one disc relative to the other, to release a lock operating plug. In proper decoding position a slide bar, which normally blocks rotation of the lock operating plug, is shifted by key action into openings provided in the discs and out of blocking engagement with the plug, in which position the plug is free for rotation by the key.
