Patent number: RE32271Abstract: The existence of high fibrin-affinity urokinase is discovered by an isolation procedure using fibrin precipitated on an adsorptive-solid matrix. By the method described, the high affinity form of plasminogen activator can be isolated directly from urine or from kidney tissue culture medium. The method is economical and provides a relatively high yield of the activator. The high affinity that this plasminogen activator has for fibrin is a property that makes it an improved thrombolytic agent and when radiolabelled provides a new diagnostic agent for the specific detection of fibrin thrombi through nuclear scanning. The newly-isolated plasminogen activator has the following characteristics: a molecular weight of about 56,000 Daltons, a specific activity of about 40,000-50,000 CTA units/mg, the appearance of a single chain structure and a high affinity for fibrin.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1985Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Inventors: Syed S. Patent number: 4619007Abstract: A method for fabricating fluid containers in general, and more particularly, plastic fluid containers which are suitable for use in water mattresses. The containers are fabricated by first extruding a polymer mixture into a tubular configuration and cutting to the desired length. One end of the tubing is framed by a support member in such a way that a portion of the end of the tube folds over the support member. The support member is constructed in a manner so that it may be disassembled into two sections. A flat end piece section is then placed over the assembly and the thus-formed end assembly is positioned within a support fixture such that the sealing end surface of the assembly is supported on the upper face of the support fixture. The fixture is then moved to a sealing area where an induction heater generates sufficient heat to heat seal the flat end piece to the end of the tubular member.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1982Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Inventors: Angel M. Patent number: 4619015Abstract: The vacuum loading cleaning system includes a pair of interconnected pressure vessels containing a cleaning liquid pumped out of one or both of the pressure vessels, through a heat exchanger and into a dirty tank. Cleaning liquid and dislodged contaminants are sucked up from the dirty tank by a partial vacuum above the cleaning liquid within the pressure vessel. A submersible booster pump aids passage of material along the vacuum line. Solids and cleaning liquid from the pressure vessel are separated by a solids separator with the cleaning liquid being returned to the pressure vessels. A skimmer is used within one or both of the pressure vessels to remove floating solids and liquid contaminants from the system. A phase separator, mounted beneath the suction inlets so that the material from the dirty tank passes through the phase separator, speeds the separation and concentration of solids, liquids and gases/vapors.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1984Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Industrial Innovations, Inc.Inventor: William G. Patent number: 4619024Abstract: A slit fin heat exchanger is formed by wrapping slit fin tubing into a flat coil having two spaced rows of tubing. The flat coil is located on mandrels which are rotatable about spaced parallel axes with the mandrels and axes initially being in the same plane. A piece of expanded metal is placed between the two rows. The mandrels are rotated about their axes in opposite directions which shifts the plane in which the coil is located. The shifting of the plane of the coil moves a portion of a first row of the coil into contact with a planar portion of a platen and the second row of the coil into a nesting relationship with the portion of the first row which is in contact with the planar portion of the platen and the piece of expanded metal. Continued rotation of the mandrels causes folding of the portions of the coil which extends the area of nesting. The folding takes place through up to 120.degree.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1984Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Carrier CorporationInventors: John R. McManus, Lawrence W. Ubowski

Patent number: 4619027Abstract: A tool is provided for installing and aligning camshaft bushings in internal combustion engines. The tool includes a guide which fits into the bushing bore of the number one bushing in the engine block. The guide includes a spring-loaded engaging ball and depth shoulder for positioning the guide and orienting it with respect to the oil delivery passage in the engine block. The guide includes a central opening with a keyway, through which a shaft extends. The shaft is slidable with respect to the guide and includes protruding pins which engage the key way to orient the shaft. A working head holds a camshaft bushing, and a spring-loaded ball on the head engages the oil supply opening in the wall of the bushing to angularly orient the bushing on the head. With the shaft pins in the key way, a bushing on the head is exactly aligned with the oil delivery passages in the engine block. The bushings may then be installed by striking the other end of the shaft with a hammer. Depth gauge indicators are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1985Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Inventor: Michael J. Ohannesian
