  • Patent number: 4768253
Abstract: A sleeper sofa mattress includes a foam body with an opening for the receipt of a spring assembly. The spring assembly is positioned in the foam body so as to rest between hinge lines that allow the mattress to be folded into the sleeper sofa. A support substrate is attached to the foam body and spring assembly. The support substrate in the form of a high tensile strength polypropylene mesh serves to positively hold the foam body and mattress together and spread the load thereby reducing wear and increasing the comfort and overall service life of the mattress. Insulator pads are also provided across the spring assembly and a cushioning member across the top of the entire mattress completes the combination.

  • Patent number: 4768258
Abstract: A connecting ring which is screwed with a collar in a passage of a tool handle provides a connection of the tool handle with an extension. The edge of the collar is provided with locking teeth and the interior wall of the tool handle in the passage is provided with locking projections. On screwing in the collar in the passage of the tool handle the locking teeth come into engagement with the locking projections to form a locking seat for the collar in the tool handle by motion in the circumferential direction around the tool handle. This secures the screw connection from undesired loosening. In the same way as the connecting ring can be secured to the tool handle also the cap closing the passage can be secured in a locking seat when the extension is removed from the handle and is not used.

  • Patent number: 4768262
Abstract: A novel fiber drafting system disclosed according to which a textile fiber strand is passed through a plurality of pairs of drafting rollers wherein one of each pair of drafting rollers includes a circumferential groove for receiving the fiber strand and the other roller includes a circumferential rib for compressing the strand in the recessed groove to a cross-sectional shape substantially conforming to the groove. The plurality of pairs of rib and groove rollers are rotated such that each successive pair along the drafting pathway of the textile fiber strand has a greater circumferential speed than the preceeding pair of drafting rollers. In this fashion a textile fiber strand is compressed into a cross-section configuration which substantially equalizes the pressure on all fibers being drafted and thereby provides a more uniformly drafted strand.

  • Patent number: 4768267
Abstract: During the assembly of a gas circulation block, encased in sheet metal, a conical sheet-metal sleeve is placed onto a shaped block which is in the form of a truncated cone and made of a refractory material, then a sheet-metal cover provided with a gas supply tube is laid onto the larger end face of the shaped block and then the sheet-metal sleeve is welded onto the sheet-metal cover. In order to reduce the assembly effort and at the same time to create an improved gas circulation block, the conical sheet-metal sleeve is heated up before placing onto the shaped block and is then shrunk onto the shaped block. By the shrinking of the sleeve, every type of dimensional inaccuracy is compensated for, whether on the shaped block or on the sheet-metal sleeve, so that the sheet-metal sleeve, in the shrunk-on condition, sits uniformly and tightly against the shaped block over its entire periphery and its entire length.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of dry processing a semiconductor wafer including processes of vacuum baking and dry silylation provides a gaseous atmosphere of pressure up to 760 Torr against the surface of the wafer, one or more of the constituents of the gas being obtained from a liquid fluid source of the constituent, including a metering device that controls flow of the liquid fluid from a remote reservoir and feeds it to a vaporizer that converts the fluid to a vapor gas at pressure up to 760 Torr and feeds the vapor gas at that pressure into a wafer processing chamber where the particular dry process involving the vapor gas is carried out on the wafer surface. In a preferred embodiment the metering device is an automotive fuel injector, sometimes referred to as a throttle body injector (TBI) that is energized by electrical pulses, each electrical pulse causing the TBI to inject a given predetermined amount into the vaporizer which heats the fluid, turning it into a vapor gas at pressure up to 760 Torr.

  • Patent number: 4768293
Abstract: Apparatus for blowing air into footwear for warming and/or drying the footwear. The apparatus has a seal for sealing an open or ankle portion of the footwear, and a duct assembly having intake and exhaust ports, and a discharge tube. The seal encircles the discharge tube and has a range of effective diameters to accommodate open portions of footwear of different sizes. The discharge tube is telescopically extensible and retractable of the seal to accommodate footwear of different heights and to retract within the seal for storage. A fan, communicating with the duct assembly and a heating element, draws air into the intake duct and discharges it through the discharge tube into the shoe. The apparatus can be used to warm and/or dry footwear ranging from high stiff ski boots to low soft running shoes, and accommodates a wide range of sizes of such footwear.

  • Patent number: 4768294
Abstract: A paper machine or similar apparatus is provided with a device for transferring a paper or board web from a press section to a dryer section on an endless, machine-wide support belt. The belt operates over a guide roll in the press section and a drying cylinder of the dryer section. Transfer of the paper or board web is improved, especially for heavy grades, with regard to the open draw length, the web stretch and web drying. The drying cylinder, guide roll and endless support belt looped therearound are interposed between the press section and first cylinder drying group, which is not drivingly coupled to the first cylinder. A clothing generally looped around and operable with the first cylinder drying group contacts the endless support belt for transfer of the web.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a device for protecting the shoes of a driver of a motor vehicle. The device includes a protective cover which prevents abrasive rubbing action against the heel of a shoe as it rests on a vehicle's floor and which prevents moisture on the floor from reaching the shoe. The cover includes an inner layer made of soft non-abrasive material such as flannel and an outer layer of water impervious material. An applicator comprising two pairs of spring-biased tongs is used to place and secure the cover about a shoe heel.

Abstract: A desk storage system for efficiently organizing various office implements using modular components assembled in one of a plurality of configurations according to user preference. The desk storage system includes modular components attachable to one another by connectors mounted on the periphery of the modular components. The connectors enable lateral and, selectively, angular tilt adjustment of adjacent modular components. A strong, rigid shelf is also provided for supporting the modular components, while also allowing the lateral and angular tilt adjustment of the modular components. The system further includes stacked trays selectively adjustable relative to one another. The trays are stacked using stacking brackets readily engageable between paper trays, while providing a strong, rigid connection.

  • Patent number: 4768301
Abstract: An important factor in firearms suitable for combat is the capability to permit replacing the magazine with one hand, that is, to permit the user to eject an emptied magazine by releasing it with the shooting hand and permitting it to drop out automatically, so that a full magazine can be inserted with the free hand. To accomplish this, a latch mechanism is arranged in a through hole formed transversely to the magazine opening and to the longitudinal axis of the barrel of the gun and includes two positive detent latches in a concave or arched portion, the detents being separated by a central groove. The detents have an outer arched or curved surface and on the inside provide straight walls for the groove, in this way a straight magazine can displace the latch axially. The magazine has two pairs of recesses in a rounded leading surface that are arranged so that the two detents seat in the recesses, thereby to accurately support the magazine in two dimensions.
