  • Patent number: 4771563
Abstract: A lightweight, portable device maintains at a warm temperature a quantity of animal scent, particularly animal urine, which is used by hunters to attract animals. A battery operated heating element surrounding a chamber which removably receives a vial of the liquid scent maintains the temperature of the liquid above freezing when the device is used outdoors in cold weather, and preferably heats the scent to a temperature which closely imitates the fresh presence of live deer. The device includes a cap having two oppositely oriented threaded sections, one of the which when received on a housing of the device closes the chamber containing the liquid while the other when received on the housing enables vent openings formed in the cap to dissipate odors which emanate from the vial. Batteries of the device are located within an enlarged base and thus provide a low center of gravity, which allows the device to remain in a stable, upright orientation on the ground when desired.

  • Patent number: 4771565
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a novel device for reducing the friction which is generated when a trawl net is dragged along the ocean bottom. A trawl net, as it is being dragged in a forwardly direction, comes in contact with not only debris on the ocean floor but also with the substrate comprising the ocean floor, thus increasing the friction being applied to the net, which reduces the life of the net. The novel device contemplated herein is a device which is generally spherical in configuration, although somewhat elongated in one direction resembling a bobbin. The device is made of at least two parts which can be easily placed on the net webs or net lines, preferably at a rearwardly location with respect to the forward movement of the net. As the net is being pulled, the device, which is in contact with the ocean bottom, rolls, thereby reducing the contact between the net and the ocean bottom and also maintaining the net at a distance certain from the ocean bottom.

  • Patent number: 4771579
Abstract: A process and apparatus are disclosed for recovering and cleaning contaminated particulate abrasives blast media for reuse. A first vacuum system vacuums up spent contaminated blast media from a work site and entrains it in an airstream. The entrained contaminated media is then projected onto a target surface that absorbs momentum of the contaminated media such that media and contaminates at least equal in weight to the media drop out of air suspension while contaminates lighter in weight than the media substantially remain in suspension. The contaminated media that drops out of entrainment falls into a rotating drum having apertured cylindrical wall surfaces that permit blast media to pass therethrough while retaining oversized contaminates. The rotating apertured drum is contained within a housing that is evacuated to substantially remove the lighter weight contaminates from the housing and, hence, from the media.

  • Patent number: 4771582
Abstract: To prevent the vibrations caused by wind in suspended-roof supporting frameworks, the suspended-roof supporting framework has main chains composed of bar-shaped main links of relatively small cross section. The ends of these main links are connected to one another at joint centers, and the ends of the main chains are fastened to a stationary perimeter structure. The joint centers of adjacent main chains are connected by means of supplemental links of larger cross section. The supplemental links are larger in cross section than the main links, so they form supplemental chains which are heavier than the main chains. The supplemental chains extend obliquely relative to the main chains, and their ends are fastened to the perimeter structure.

The resultant carpet structure substantially eliminates electrostatic shock to a human walking across the carpet and approaching a ground such as a light switch, radio, or another person. Such a carpet does not constitute a dangerous floor covering. The unique heterogeneous hybrid spun blended yarn is achieved by process techniques completely contrary to accepted blending practices.

  • Patent number: 4771598
Abstract: In an arrangement for texturing threads used in producing yarn, the threads are preheated by passing through channels of a contact heater before passing through the known yarn texturing, e.g. false twisting units. To increase thread and yarn production with a particular contact heater, two threads are passed through a respective heating channel in the heater, rather than one thread. To accomplish this, one thread has a right hand, regular or Z-twist or turn and the other has a left hand, reverse or S-twist or turn, and their crimp causes them to avoid each other at opposite sides of the channel, and not to undesirably contact. A respective texturing unit is supplied for each of the threads that has been heated.

Abstract: A pneumatic-hydraulic booster for vehicles includes a master cylinder part; a pneumatic cylinder part combined with the master cylinder part including a power piston slidably fitted to a cylindrical casing and an output rod fixed to the power piston, extending to the master cylinder part; a partition wall body fitted to the cylindrical casing; and a relay valve part being arranged at the opposite side of the partition wall body to the power piston in the cylindrical casing. The relay valve supplies compressed air into an air pressure chamber formed between the partition wall body and the power piston and discharges the compressed air from the air pressure chamber to the atmosphere. When compressed air is supplied into the air pressure chamber through the relay valve part, the power piston and the output rod are moved forwards to generate hydraulic pressure in the master cylinder part. The hydraulic pressure is applied to a wheel cylinder.

Abstract: A multiroom air conditioner has a plurality of indoor heat exchangers connected to a single outdoor heat exchanger. A reversible expansion valve is installed on a liquid-side branch pipe for each of the indoor heat exchangers, and a solenoid valve is installed on a gas-side branch pipe for each indoor heat exchanger. Temperature sensors are provided on the liquid-side branch pipes, on the gas-side branch pipes, and on the outlet side during cooling of the outdoor heat exchanger. A pressure sensor or a temperature sensor detects the saturation temperature on the high-pressure side of the compressor. Based on the saturation temperature on the high-pressure side of the compressor, the temperature on the outlet side during cooling of the outdoor heat exchanger, and the temperatures in the liquidside branch pipes, a controller controls the expansion valves so as to obtain a target degree of subcooling during cooling and heating.

Abstract: This publication describes a method and apparatus for the utilization of heat energy released in a cooling process. In accordance with the method, air used as the heat transfer medium is routed to a compressor (2) in which compressor (2) the air is compressed to a higher pressure, the compressed air is cooled to a lower temperature, the cooled air is routed to a turbine (8), where it expands to a lower pressure and cools down, and air expansion work released in the turbine (8) is used for rotating the compressor (2). In accordance with the invention, air is compressed in the compressor (2) to such a high pressure that its temperature exceeds a minimum temperature of water boiling point in normal atmospheric pressure, the high-pressure compressed air is cooled to a sufficiently low temperature, e.g., below 15.degree. C.
