Patent number: 4796379Abstract: An artificial "plug" or "crankbait" fishing lure that once cast, or placed in the water, dives unaided (without applying line force) vertically to the lake or river bottom or until retrieved. As it dives it wobbles in a fish attracting manner (e.g. as if it were a wounded bait fish). Once on the bottom it comes to rest with its treble hook supported well off the bottom, to avoid snagging. When retrieved by reeling in, it exhibits a fish-attracting wobble. The lure has unlimited operating depth. Once in the water the lure can reach any depth by letting it dive vertically on a slack (no tension) line to the desired depth and then retrieving it by manipulating the fishing rod in conjunction with the reeling speed. The lure can be bounced along the bottom during the retrieve or kept swimming in open water. A retrieval mode commonly called "jigging" by fishermen (making a saw-tooth path by alternate lure dives and reel cranking while manipulating the rod tip) can effectively be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Inventor: Phillip A. Rabideau

Patent number: 4796383Abstract: A reusable planter box with four side panels can be assembled and disassembled with ease, and are still durable enough to accommodate large plants and trees. The side panels of the planter box contain three inserting means on one edge and three receiving means on the second edge that can be brought together to form the connection between the two adjacent panels. These connections are secured by securing means located adjacent to the receiving means and hold the inserting means in place. The connection can be further secured by placing a cotter pin in a horizontal bore through the inserting means preventing the inserting means and receiving means from detaching. The lower part of the planter forms a ledge on which a disposable bottom shelf can be placed. Footings on each panel raise the shelf above the ground, which slows deterioration of the shelf and prevents roots from growing into the ground.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1986Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: Dura Lee, Ltd.Inventors: Bert Inoue, Phil Lee

Patent number: 4796422Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for treating tail yarns in textile spindle assemblies of textile spinning machines, twisters or the like, wherein a stationary upper slit ring and an axially slidable lower slit ring are mounted on a base portion of a spindle to form a tail yarn gripping means. The pressed state of the tail yarn gripping means is released by sliding the lower slit ring downward by rotational centrifugal force. The tail yarn can be securely fixed to the tail yarn gripping means and the yarn underwindings can be automatically removed from the tail yarn gripping means during the operation of the machine. When a flange of the upper slit ring is perforated with a plurality of yarn passing openings, the tail yarn released from the means for holding the yarn underwindings is retained by this yarn passing opening, which prevents adverse effects to the traveler in the early stage of winding, resulting in prevention of the occurrence of yarn breakage or the deterioration of yarn properties.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1988Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: Odawara Industry Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kunimitsu Odawara

Patent number: 4796424Abstract: The invention relates to intakes for turbopropeller gas turbine engines of the tractor type. A tractor turbopropeller gas turbine engine comprises a gas generator, an upstream propeller and a downstream propeller. The propellers are positioned upstream of the gas generator, and the propellers are driven via shaft means and gear means. An intake means supplies air to the gas generator, the intake means comprises an intake opening and an intake duct. The intake opening is positioned axially between the propellers, and a portion of the intake duct extends axially through the downstream propeller. This arrangement reduces the length of the shaft and the turbopropeller gas turbine engine, and reduces the weight accordingly. The intake opening is arranged to provide improved protection against ingestion of large foreign objects, such as birds, into the intake duct and gas generator.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: Rolls-Royce plcInventors: Peter G. Patent number: 4796425Abstract: In a double air-fuel sensor system including two air-fuel ratio sensors upstream and downstream of a catalyst converter provided in an exhaust gas passage, an actual air-fuel ratio is adjusted in accordance with the outputs of the upstream-side and downstream-side air-fuel ratio sensors. A center value of an air-fuel ratio correction amount or an air-fuel ratio feedback control parameter calculated based upon the output of the downstream-side air-fuel ratio sensor is calculated by a learning control for regions defined by the period of the output of the upstream-side air-fuel ratio sensor, and an air-fuel ratio feedback control is initiated by using the center value stored for the current region when the engine enters into an air-fuel ratio feedback control state, or when the period of the output of the upstream-side air-fuel ratio sensor is transferred to a different region.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Toshinari Nagai, Nobuaki Kayanuma

Patent number: 4796427Abstract: A method of utilizing centrifugal forces generated by the earth's rotation through positioning of conduit means containing liquid in critical and predetermined relation to such forces while concomitantly minimizing the adverse effects of the earth's gravitational forces on that system thereby to induce fluid flow. One means for accomplishment of the above is the employment of an elongated conduit system in which, under steady state conditions, the liquid media contained within the system is essentially in equilibrium in relation to the earth's gravitational field. The longitudinal section interconnecting the inlet and outlet portions is maintained at a substantially uniform depth relative to the earth's surface while at the same time being oriented in a direction relative to the earth's centrifugal forces so as to maximize the effect of such forces on the liquid contained within the section thereby to produce a velocity head sufficient to drive a turbo-generating system to produce electric power.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Inventor: Craig H.
