  • Patent number: 4893441
Abstract: The structure is composed of a plurality of feet, each consisting of a section of square tubing which has at the base height adjustment means connected to a ground rest plate. Each foot bears on its top four crosspieces obtained by pressing from a sheet metal; the head of the crosspieces is shaped to cover an area of one fourth of the section of the foot tubing. The head edges are turned over to form hooking means for connection to the foot, while screw means are provided for achieving engagement among the crosspieces converging on a same foot and the foot itself. Each cross-piece is again covered by a U-like moulding of plastics which forms the rest plane for modular panels.

  • Patent number: 4893454
Abstract: A three sided envelope opening and extraction apparatus and method are disclosed. • Patent number: 4893460
Abstract: A belt type spindle drive apparatus for textile machines of the type having a plurality of simultaneously driven aligned spindles arranged in at least one row. An endless belt extends in driving engagement along the spindles and is driven by a plurality of belt driving devices. In one embodiment, the belt driving devices have drive rollers offset from the spindle rows and coaxial overlapping input and output rollers that guide the belt to and from the drive roller between adjacent spindles. The paths of the belt entering and leaving the drive devices are offset. When an uneven number of devices is used, a pair of canted auxiliary rollers are used to make the number of belt path offsets even. To accommodate the offset of the guide rollers, one or the other guide rollers can be canted toward the drive roller or the drive roller can be canted. Alternatively, adjacent drive devices can have the same offset relationship and the belt path can be inclined from one drive device to the other.

  • Patent number: 4893470
Abstract: A technique for producing thrust by generating a hybrid plume plasma exhaust is disclosed. A plasma flow is generated and introduced into a nozzle which features one or more inlets positioned to direct a flow of neutral gas about the interior of the nozzle. When such a neutral gas flow is combined with the plasma flow within the nozzle, a hybrid plume is constructed including a flow of hot plasma along the center of the nozzle surrounded by a generally annular flow of neutral gas, with an annular transition region between the pure plasma and the neutral gas. The temperature of the outer gas layer is below that of the pure plasma and generally separates the pure plasma from the interior surfaces of the nozzle. The neutral gas flow both insulates the nozzle walls from the high temperatures of the plasma flow and adds to the mass flow rate of the hybrid exhaust. The rate of flow of neutral gas into the interior of the nozzle may be selectively adjusted to control the thrust and specific impulse of the device.

  • Patent number: 4893476
Abstract: The invention relates to a three function heat pump system which provides space heating, space cooling and hot water production. The system permits hot water production all year long without operation of the system in the heating or cooling modes. The system also provides a check valve arrangement which allows passage of a refrigerant through the receiver in all three modes without reversing the flow of the refrigerant through the receiver. The valving arrangement also prevents migration of the refrigerant from the liquid receiver to a thermal storage tank during the hot water production mode. In addition, the valve arrangement allows the refrigerant to pass through throttle or expansion valves when the liquid is passing from the liquid receiver to the thermal storage tank and outdoor air coil, while bypassing the expansion valves when the refrigerant passes from the outdoor air coil and the thermal storage tank to the liquid receiver inlet.

The side panels and the base panel are provided with integral interlocking means in the edges thereof so that the panels may be manufactured at one location and shipped in knockdown form to another location where the side panels may be readily assembled on the base panel by unskilled personnel without the use of tools or separate fastening means by simple engagement of the interlocking means in the panel edges. A lid or closure panel may then be secured to one of the side panels to provide a completely enclosed refrigerated compartment.

Abstract: A compressor drive system that includes a thermostat producing a signal indicating the measured air temperature, a modulation control circuit connected to the thermostat to produce a motor drive signal from the temperature signal and which is output to a motor drive switching bridge circuit. The motor drive switching bridge circuit is connected to a rectifier that converts single phase alternating current to direct current. The switching bridge uses the motor drive signal from the modulation control circuit and the rectifier output to produce multiphase power including a speed control signal imposed on the power for regulating speed. A motor connected to drive a compressor is included. The motor is powered by the motor drive switching bridge circuit multiphase power output. The speed of the motor is controlled as a function of the temperature signal.

Abstract: A refrigeration cycle or an air conditioner including a refrigeration cycle is subjected to feedback control based on modern control theory. An apparatus controlling a controlled object, that is, the refrigeration cycle of the air conditioner including the refrigeration cycle, is formed as an optimal regulator. A controlled input to the controlled object includes a capacity of a compressor or a degree of opening of an expansion valve. A control output from the controlled object includes a temperature of air at a point downstream of the evaporator or a superheat of refrigerant. Feedback gains are predetermined by use of dynamic models constructed for respective steady operation states of the controlled object.

Abstract: Warp knit fabrics, especially sewn-knitted fabrics, are produced by a method and apparatus whch results in single and multiple layer sloping fabrics having oblique and diagonal endless filling threads with respect to the boundary of the fabrics. Spaced-apart chain conveyors transport a plurality of filling-thread sections, each of which contains a plurality of endless filling threads, to a stitch-forming site. The plurality of filling-thread sections are held between and transported by the conveyors by a plurality of hooks in the conveyors. Filling thread sections are laid onto the hooks by at least one filling laying device having a guide means for laying the filling thread sections onto the hooks.

  • Patent number: 4893484
Abstract: By using a relay of which contact is opened or closed in response to a signal from instruction and control unit, an electric power is supplied to a load unit through the contact of the relay. The relay is such that a power switch is turned on to excite a coil for closing the contact thereof. When a reserved operation is performed, the relay is turned off in response to the signal from the instruction and control unit at the time at which a reserved time and the contents of the reserved operation have been set. When the time to start the reserved operation comes, the relay is turned on again in response to the signal from the instruction and control unit to start a supply of electric power to the load unit. Power is not applied to the load unit during the waiting period until the reserved operation starts. Thus, the malfunction of the load unit due to the deterioration of the semiconductor switching elements is prevented, and a safer washing machine can be obtained.

Abstract: A process and an apparatus for the continuous and controlled application of liquor on an absorptive, compressible material web such as textile webs, warp yarn layers or vleeces. One or more liquors are applied in amounts being comprised between the values of water retention capacity and saturation. The liquor containing web is passed through an equalizing device wherein the web is drawn through an equalizing nip or slit whose thickness is adjustable and smaller than the thickness of the incoming, liquor containing material web. The equalizing may be effected in the nip of two rollers. The liquor concentration in the web before and after the equalizing is statistically the same.
