Abstract: A new and distinct variety of shrub rose plant is provided which forms in abundance attractive stable long lasting single guardsman red blossoms having a white center. The variety exhibits a strong creeping growth habit, and very good resistance to disease. The petals of the blossoms drop off cleanly. The new variety is well adapted for growing as a landscape planting.

Abstract: A new and distinct variety of shrub rose plant is provided which forms attractive semi-double dark carmine pink blossoms. The blossoms are formed abundantly and continuously and possess firm petals which detach cleanly. The vegetation is vigorous. The new variety is not particularly affected by crytogamic diseases, and is well suited for use as ornamentation in parks and gardens.

Abstract: This new varietal sport of Fraxinus pennsylvanica summit green ash has been produced asexually from a sport branch of `Summit` green ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica `Summit`) found growing on a tree at Madison, Wis. with the characteristic of many lateral branches growing from a main branch or limb axis. Propagation by me asexually from this sport produced vigorous straight-growing trees with a strong central leader, an adnormally high number of lateral branches, many appearing at three inch intervals on the main stem. These laterals grew in a strongly ascending manner producing semi-lustrous dark green foilage, turning yellow in the fall, and tree crown with a ratio of 15 to 20% of the height in width, much narrower than asexual progeny of Summit ash of the same age and size.

Abstract: A cultivar of Kohleria plant named Orangeglow having compact growth, early flowering characteristics, orange-red corolla tube and rounded corolla limbs, and by its floriferous habit.

Abstract: A new and distinct geranium cultivar particularly distinguished by its very large, violet pink, half-filled clusters of about seventy-five large florets, each floret comprising from five to seven, broad, imbricated petals having a rounded apex and entire margins. This variety is a very bushy and compact plant with a relatively low height and medium growth rate and having a continuous and profusely blooming habit from early Spring through late midseason to Fall. The flower clusters stand on sturdy stalks about 13 cm. long and the foliage, of medium green leaves with faint zonation, stands about 17 cm. above the soil.

Abstract: A new carnation variety particularly distinguished by its very large cream white flowers which are produced profusely at recurrent intervals during the Spring, Midseason and Fall flowering periods, on very long, strong stems, the plant, having a height of about 130 cm. at eight months of growth. The flowers are borne singly on erect, rigid stems of a plant having a vigorous, upright growth habit with moderately abundant foliage and a well branched habit.

Abstract: A new and distinct variety of standard carnation plant distinguished particularly by its very large blooms of a Venetian Pink coloration which are produced profusely during the Spring, Midseason and Fall flowering seasons on a plant having a recurrent blooming habit, the flowers being borne singly on long, strong, upright stems of a plant reaching a height of about 130 cm. at eight months of growth and having moderately abundant foliage.

Abstract: A new and distinct standard carnation cultivar particularly distinguished by its very large blooms of a Cardinal Red coloration borne singly on long, strong, upright stems from a plant producing at least four stems, emitted near the ground, and having a height of about 110 cm. at eight months of growth. The plant having a vigorous, upright and well-branched growth habit with moderately abundant foliage and a recurrent blooming habit producing flowers profusely during the Spring, Midseason and Fall blooming periods.

Abstract: A side entry sub for use in a drill pipe string which permits continuous injection and/or removal of a wireline equipped with analitical instruments within the hollow of the pipe without interrupting the connection or resulting communication between the wireline and tool apparatus. The operation is performed with the top power device connected to the drill pipe string and may be used during pressure application of drilling mud. Such a device permits location of a stuck pipe without disassembly of the top power drive.

Abstract: A system for recognizing touch positions along an axis on a surface associated with a touch control apparatus comprises a substrate having a surface capable of propagating surface acoustic waves and so characterized that a touch on that surface causes a perturbation of a surface wave passing through the region of touch. An input surface wave transducer coupled to the substrate surface launches a burst of surface waves on the surface. An output surface wave transducer coupled to the substrate detects received surface waves. Wave redirecting gratings derive wave components from the launched wave and redirect them across the substrate surface to the output transducer. The wave components are caused to traverse the axis along a progression of paths associated with different touch positions along the axis.

Abstract: The detection and warning of microbursts, low level wind shear, and other weather disturbances, which are hazardous to aircraft operations and to the public at large, are accomplished with either an airport surveillance radar (ASR) or a multi-beam Doppler radar. ASR Doppler systems normally operate to receive one of two relatively large vertical fan beams having different elevation angles but which overlap one another so that they have equal gains at an elevation angle, called the null, at a relatively low angle, for example 5.degree.. Below this null, the low beam antenna gain exceeds that of the high beam, and conversely above it. Accordingly, by subtracting the high beam Doppler spectrum from that on the low beam, a Difference Doppler Spectrum (DDS) is produced which is positive below the null and negative above. The velocity bounds of the positive portion of the DDS provide the wind speed components at the null and at heights near the surface.

Abstract: A solderless filtered connector is formed by a first insulative housing which is selectively plated with conductive material and is profiled to receive therein a second insulative housing carrying a plurality of filtered terminals in a spaced array. Ground is established by a multi-apertured grounding member which receives the respective filter sleeves therein and is profiled to make wiping engagement with the plated portion of the first housing. A metal shell secured to the first housing defines a mating face for the connector and completes the ground path. Each terminal has a compliant intermediate portion which is received in the bore of a respective filter sleeve to make solderless engagement therewith.

Abstract: There is disclosed a scarf having an elongated, lightweight body of a foam material such as polyurethane foam, and which body has a plurality of spaced, transverse slits located at one end and opposing notches located at the opposite end forming a hook-like shape at the opposite end and being adjustable for use by wearers having different neck sizes when the hook-like shape is inserted through the slits.

Abstract: A bartender's glove includes a glove having an index finger portion and a thumb portion with truncated ends. The juncture between the index finger and thumb has a leather grip affixed thereto which will frictionally grip a twist-off bottle cap. The glove has a wristband portion comprised of two flaps which are selectively fastenable, so as to make the wristband adjustable to various diameter wrists. The glove is seamed from the index finger diagonally down to the wristband on both the palm side of the glove and the back hand side of the glove.

Abstract: A bifurcated trunk with thigh length leg portions, each terminating in a lower extremity, has closure structure to tighten the lower extremity. The closure structure can include a slit extending upwardly from the lower extremity and defining first and second sides of the leg portions on respective sides of the slit. Structure is provided for fastening one of the sides of each leg portion to the other. The fastening structure is preferably cooperating hook and pile surfaces, one on each side of the leg portions. The closure structure of the invention is also useful on other types of garments. Padding is provided in the rump area to protect the buttocks against scrapping and bruising. The padding preferably extends a distance into the leg portions where it is influenced by the closure structure so as to retain the flexible padding in a protective position protecting the buttocks and thighs of the wearer even during strenuous sports activity, particularly sliding into bases.

Abstract: A shoulder pad harness for securely and comfortably supporting a pair of shoulder pads on a wearer's shoulders without a bra or other fasteners is described. Preferably, the shoulder pad harness comprises an adjustable chest strap adapted to be supported longitudinally about a wearer's chest, the adjustable chest strap including a base portion, first and second ends attached to the base, and a clasp for securing the first and second ends of the adjustable chest strap. First and second adjustable shoulder straps are secured and supported generally transversely to the adjustable chest strap, and first and second shoulder pads are secured to the first and second shoulder straps, respectively. In the preferred embodiment, the shoulder pads are made of foam, lined with cotton and covered with lace. To facilitate the wearer's placement of the harness without having to search for a right or left side, the harness includes a pair of tabs sewn adjacent the first and second ends of the adjustable chest strap.

Abstract: A protective under garment having a waterproof outer surface and an absorptive inner surface. The garment has a waistband and leg bands for securing the garment about the user. The garment is open faced and leg bands secured to the crotch of the garment hold the garment in place to form a comfortable and convenient protective shield.

Abstract: A latch mechanism for a hinged cover such as a toilet cover comprising a base which is mounted on the bowl of the toilet, a latch bar which is pivotally mounted on the base and movable between a horizontal position which interferringly overlies as the toilet cover and a raised position which permits raising of the cover, and locking means which must be released to allow the latch bar to be moved to its raised or entry-authorized position. In one embodiment of the invention, the base is mounted on the ceramic structure of the toilet between the cover and the wafer closet, and the locking means comprises an element which depends pivotally from the latch bar and has dog-leg portions with feet which swing under a portion of the base to prevent the latch bar from being raised.

Abstract: A transfer aid includes a space frame releasably securable to a commode having a series of assist bars within hand-reachable distance from the commode user. The assist bars are grasped for initiating pivotable weight transference and for providing lift support during movement from a seated to a standing position. The space frame also includes a footpad for weight distribution to stabilize the space frame.

Abstract: A waterless sanitation system with ventilation. A toilet within a building is located over a pit having a solids holding basket suspendedly mounted within a liquids holding tank. A plurality of air inlet pipes extend externally of the building downwardly through the basket and into the liquids holding tank with a plurality of apertures provided on the pipes allowing the air to enter both the basket and tank. An exit pipe extends upwardly from the tank through the basket and through the roof of the building. A plurality of apertures in the exit pipe allow the gas within the tank and basket to escape. An exhaust fan is provided to pull the air downwardly through the inlet pipes and the gas outwardly through the exhaust pipe. The inlet pipes have mouths oriented to catch the wind assisting the flow of air.

Abstract: A wave suppression device, for use suppressing waves and for use in the demarcation of swimming pool lanes, comprised of a cylindrical core having a plurality of fins radially extending from its outer surface. The fins are positioned substantially coextensively along the length of the core. At least one spacer is circumferentially positioned about and connected to the core member and fins. A flotation assembly is axially positioned within the core member and compression fit against the inner surface thereof. The flotation assembly includes a central axial opening for receiving a cable or like device for stringing a plurality of wave suppression devices together to form a lane demarcation.

Abstract: A faucet for automatic operation defining a base and an elongated cantilevered spout body provided with a discharge outlet. A sensing means for automatic operation in the form of an emitter an detector are mounted on the spout body intermediate the base and discharge outlet. The emitter and detector are positioned on the longitudinal center of the spout body and provide a concentrated zone of effective detection disposed intermediate the area of discharge from the faucet and the base. The zone shape is transversely elongated relative to the longitudinal center of the faucet spout body.

Abstract: A sink mat is set forth wherein the mat is of a generally rectangular configuration formed of laminated polymeric layers. The layers are mechanically or adhesively secured together to capture coil springs therein. THe coil springs are formed in a plurality of circular patterns originating from the center of the mat to cushion and absorb impact when positioned. Furthermore, a plurality of bendable elongate wires are captured within spaced peripheral positions within the laminated layers to enable deformation and recontouring of the mat to accommodate variations in associated sink contours.
