  • Patent number: 4932133
Abstract: A post-avalanche upward indicating aid device is provided. The device includes a body, an illumination source and an attachment means. The body has a generally central cavity which is partially filled with a liquid and closed or sealed. The illumination source enables the liquid in the cavity to be observed in darkness and an attachment point is provided so that the device can be securely fastened to or carried by a user. The aid device incorporates the effect of gravity on a liquid contained in a closed, partially liquid-filled cavity. That is, gravity draws the liquid in the partially liquid-filled cavity in a downward direction so that the partially-empty area or bubble in the cavity will always tend toward a position above the liquid. Thus, by observing the location of the bubble in the central cavity, the device provides an automatic, immediate and readily visible indication of the generally upward direction to a victim buried in snow after being caught in an avalanche.

  • Patent number: 4932147
Abstract: Method of forming various versions of an apparatus for displaying diverse types of artistic creations in which the shapes and the colors of the art piece change continuously. The changes have both a temporal and a spatial nature, and may occur according to a set programmed schedule or at random. The art objects so formed may have a flat surface, curved surfaces and/or combinations of flat and curved surfaces. The color range extends over the whole spectrum of white light components. The art object does not emit light but reflects incident light. Under set conditions, the incident white light is either not reflected at all or a spatial combination of quasi monochromatic light rays is reflected. In some specially constructed configurations, the wave length of the reflected light is not affected by the observer's viewing angle. In other specially constructed configurations, the viewing position of the observer affects the wave length of the reflected light rays and the color which such observer perceives.

  • Patent number: 4932153
Abstract: A weedless fish hook assembly (10), and a method of making the weedless fish hook assembly, involve an elongated shield (14) constructed of a flexible, semi-rigid and resilient tube (30) with a shank (20) of a fish hook passing through and being attached to an upper tubularly portion (34) of the shield near an upper end of the shank. A lower portion of the elongated shield comprises an elongated segment inside-out segment (38) of the tube which bows from the upper tubularly portion toward the hook of the hook member. A metallic hook member of said fish hook assembly passes through an opening in the lower portion of said shield at a penetration area such that the inside-out segment bows outwardly and downwardly toward the hook. The inside-out segment forms a groove in which the hook's spear end is positioned to thereby protect the hook spear end from snagging debris but which yields to the mouths of biting fish.

  • Patent number: 4932154
Abstract: The present invention provides a very carefully designed trolling rig and a method of combining the trolling rig with bait that is especially intended for use with a certain bait fish that is commonly known as a ballyhoo. The ballyhoos that are usually sold for bait are quite uniform in size and, therefore, can be used with the present invention. Thr present invention provides a conical cap that is made, preferably by molding, to resemble the head of a ballyhoo and which has a hollow cavity of a size and shape that will be compatible with the size and shape of the head of a bait ballyhoo. This conical cap, which is preferably molded or cast from a dense material, is closed at the front with a leader being attached unobtrusively to the leading edge of the cap. Another leader is unobtrusively attached to the rear lower edge of the conical cap, and a hook is connected to the other end of this rear leader. An angled and vertically positioned locking pin is used for holding the fish in the conical cap.
