    Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning surfaces includes a cleaning head defining an open-faced chamber for facing the surface to be cleaned and means for blowing air into the chamber. A rotary brush is positioned in the chamber for engaging and brushing the surface to be cleaned, and, preferably, the flowing air is directed in a stream that directly impinges the surface to be cleaned adjacent the brush. It is also preferred for the brush to be carried on an arm movable between a first position for engaging the surface to be cleaned and a second position where the brush is spaced from the surface to be cleaned. A control system is provided for power means for moving the brush and arm between the first and second positions, to cause the brush and arm to assume the first position when the motor is on to operate the brush, and to cause the brush and arm to assume the second position when the motor is off.

    Abstract: An accessory crevice tool for a hand vacuum cleaner includes a stationary portion having an adapter fittable into an inlet opening in the dust bowl of the hand-held vacuum cleaner and a rotatable portion fitted thereon. Detents in the connection between the stationary portion and the rotatable portion of the crevice tool permit stable retention of the crevice tool in a desired rotational position. A spring clip can be positioned in the inlet opening for engagement with a surface of the adapter. A locking portion of the spring clip can extend into the inlet opening for engagement with an optional latching groove in the surface of the adapter. This engagement retains the crevice tool attached to the dust bowl against all but affirmative effort to disengage them.

In order to obtain an objective that a braking torque, determining the motion characteristics of the hinge, is substantially constant and independent of the tightening torque of the hinge screw, a spring-elastic element is arranged at least between the hinge tab wherein the sleeve is located and the hinge tab movable with respect to this hinge tab. The spring-elastic element, resilient in the axial direction with respect to the hinge screw axis, is in contact under a pretensioning with a contact surface of at least one hinge tab, which surface is rotationally symmetrical with respect to the hinge screw axis.

    Abstract: An improved automatic door closure is provided for a door which has a door post mounted by two or more members attached to a door jamb. The door closure comprises a roller which is mounted on the door jam, a cam which is mounted on the door post so that it will rotate with the door post but is capable of limited movement relative to the post in an axial direction, and a spring for urging the cam against the roller as the door is swung between open and closed positions. The cam is contoured so as to cause it and the roller to coact with spring arranged to cause the door to return from open to closed position without any operator applied force. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the door closure apparatus comprises a compression spring for urging the door to close, and an adjustable mechanism for varying the force exerted by that spring.

A pair of guide fingers define a channel for receiving the connective tissue attaching the heart to the liver, and a first rotary knife positioned alongside that channel severs the connective tissue. A second rotary knife severs the liver from the gall without cutting the gall or releasing the bile within. A pair of helical rollers separates the mutually connected heart and lungs.

    Abstract: A process for gaining meat from the bodies of slaughtered poultry and an apparatus for performing this process are described. Importance is attached to the processing in the region of the clavicle in preparation for the same, and the problem to be solved is to ensure that even in the case of a broken clavicle, fragments thereof do not remain in the breast meat. This problem is solved by introducing a block into the V-bifurcation of the clavicle, said block having a wedge-shaped configuration in plan view and its flanks being provided with groove-like recesses, in which can be flushly engaged the branches of the clavicle, so that they disappear in these recesses. By means of peeling knives guided over the flanks of the block, the clavicle can be peeled free at its outer contour without a risk of any broken fragments being grasped and removed.

    Abstract: A fuel injection valve and a method for adjusting its fuel quantity are proposed. The fuel injection valve is used to inject fuel into the intake system of a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine having externally supplied ignition. It has a valve needle, which when a magnetic coil is excited is attracted toward a core by an armature connected to the valve needle, whereupon the valve needle with a sealing seat formed on it, lifts away from a valve seat face embodied on a nozzle body. According to the invention, the nozzle body is closed off by a bottom embodied in the form of a small plate, which is part of the nozzle body and in which a plurality of calibrated injection ports are located. The closure of the valve needle is embodied by a tang, which extends as far as the immediate vicinity of the bottom. The injection ports are produced by erosion thereof, while their calibration for the sake of static fuel quantity adaptation is performed by hydraulic grinding with a flowable grinding medium.

The wire segment is initially gripped with a sufficiently low pressure that it can slide along the gripper jaws as it is being manipulated to connect the wire to the terminal. The gripping pressure is increased prior to the pulling step so that sufficient pressure is applied that the free end of the wire segment is held clamped and will not be drawn through the gripper jaws when the wire segment is being stretched and severed.

    Abstract: There is provided a method of manufacturing magnetic head sliders comprising the steps of cutting a material block, which may be of sintered ferrite or ceramic material, to form a core block and slider block. Thereafter the core block is machined to form a plurality of head cores, followed by machining the slider block to form in parallel a number of sliders, which are lapped and then sliced into individual magnetic head sliders. To prevent particles of material from the magnetic head sliders from separating from the sliders and causing deleterious effects, such as head crashes, a heat treating process is employed in which the slider block and core block are treated for from 3 to 20 hours at a temperature of from 100.degree. C. to 150.degree. C., at an ambient air pressure of from 1.5 to 5 kg/cm.sup.2 and at a relative humidity of not less than 60%.
