Abstract: An ankle brace which permits plantoflexion and dorsiflexion while limiting inversion and eversion of the ankle. The brace includes a heel stirrup including a heel portion received under the wearer's heel, and upstanding inner and outer side portions which extend along and over the medial malleolus and the lateral malleolus. A pair of padded members are securable to the lower part of the person's leg and are pivotally attached to the inner and outer side portions of the stirrup with the points of pivotal movement being located at the position of the medial malleolus and the lateral malleolus. A VELCRO strap is also used to secure the stirrup to the person's foot.
Abstract: A system for the dispensing of literature to objects, such as containers carried by a conveyor, includes a tape for the application of adhesive to literature, and a device for the separation of the literature from the tape to permit the securing of the literature, adhesively, to the containers. A drive mechanism is provided for advancing the tape through successive increments of distance, each incremental distance being equal to the size of one piece of literature. A hopper dipsenses the literature to the tape, one piece at a time. Application of the pieces of literature to the objects is accomplished by a roller or brush. The literature separation device includes a bar having an edge about which the tape is bent to free the literature from the tape as the tape advances around the edge. The adhesive is retained by the literature during the separation from the tape so as to permit the adhesive attachment of the pieces of literature to the containers.

Abstract: A disposable oven pan is formed of stamped aluminum sheet material having a bottom, side walls and a rim at the periphery of the side walls. A pair of handles are fastened to the rim at opposed locations. Stabilizing bars bridge the connection points of each handle. A pair of support wires extend from the handle connection points, adjacent the outside of the side walls and under and adjacent the bottom of the pan for providing structural support to the pan. The handles, stabilizing bars and support wires are formed of steel, enabling the aluminum sheet to be relatively thin yet supportive of relatively heavy loads.
Abstract: A seat belt fitting is provided which comprises a guide element mounted on a carriage that is movable along a rail or the like. The rail may be mounted on the "B" post of an automobile so that the position of the guide element can be adjusted up-and-down relative to the shoulder of a person sitting in the automobile. The carriage can be selectively retained in a plurality of different positions along the rail. In the invention a spring strip has one end connected to the carriage, and the other end wound into a spiral. The spiral portion of the spring is retained in a predetermined position and the spring imparts a bias to the carriage tending to cancel out a bias supplied to the carriage by the seat belt.
Abstract: A batcher and the like is illustrated for utilizing torque control rather than speed control to vary the packing ratio of the rolls of a surface wound cloth roll. A phase shifting differential transmission is controlled by a condensor in series with the armature of a field wound D.C. motor in a drive between the rolls responsive to cloth tension to maintain such tension substantially constant.
Abstract: A circuit breaker characterized by a roller guide member, 1a, provided on the inside wall of an upper part of the case 1. The roller quite member, 1a, has a curved shape designed to form or smooth curved path, 100, in cooperation with the roller receiving indents 5a and 56, so that the roller can be reliably reset in the roller-receiving indents 5a and 5b.
Abstract: The invention provides independent guidance and monitoring to be integrated into an MLS landing system and also provides a scaled-down MLS landing guidance system useable at small airports. In both cases an added fixed beam precision guidance system is integrated into the MLS time sequence format. The fixed beam guidance system is based upon the concept of using paired fixed overlapping beams, sequentially radiated by different fixed antennas. One pair is oriented to left and right of the centerline of the runway, and the other pair is oriented above and below the desired glideslope. The first set of paired beams overlap at the centerline of the runway in such a manner that an aircraft approaching exactly on centerline will intercept equal signal intensities to indicate an on-course approach.
Abstract: A protective carrying case for an electronic device, especially a video cassette recorder, having upper and lower carrying case halves of high impact material with the video cassette recorder positioned therebetween. The upper and lower carrying case halves are integrally coupled to each other. First and second cover members rotatably connected to the upper and lower case halves are provided for affording access to the video cassette recorder cassette door and electrical connections respectively, the electrical connections passing through an integral barrier between the upper and lower carrying case halves for protectively isolating the video cassette recorder from a user thereof. A control panel allows a user access to at least a portion of the video cassette recorder's manual controls.

Abstract: A logic system between parallel channel end devices such as a computer and peripheral device. A level converter converts parallel digital signals from the external devices to levels for the system. A comparator samples the converted levels. Multiplex serialization of the parallel signals is initiated by comparator action and proceeds under count control. Sampled converted levels are also used to generate mode signals which are used to select predetermined logic patterns within the system, and to select varied lengths of count for messages serialized for transmission from one end of the logic system to the other. The serialized messages received at the other end are converted to parallel form by a shift register under count action governed by the mode of transmission. A sampling of the mode intelligence transmitted is used to set the receiving end in the same mode as the sending end. Buffer registers are provided for temporary storage of received messages.
