  • Patent number: 4972576
Abstract: An apparatus for containment and alignment of wire terminations has a wire holder with a slidable retainer. The front of the wire holder has oval-shaped holes for partially receiving several oval-shaped wire terminations to be connected to electronic equipment, and for reducing rotational motion of the wire terminations. Smaller holes connected to the oval-shaped holes receive the wires, but prohibit further movement of the wire terminations into the wire holder so that wire terminations uniformly protrude from the wire holder. Slots at the back of the wire holder receive the wires, which wires are frictionally locked into place by the retainer.

  • Patent number: 4972577
Abstract: A method is provided of making a gate valve assembly. First, two dish-like stamped metal valve bodies are mated while capturing an actuating nut between the noted halves. Next, the halves are welded together. The metal valve body is cooled and heat-sensitive resilient discs are mechanically sandwiched against opposite sides of the valve body to leave circumferential margins of the discs exposed for sealing purposes. The valve body is then inverted and confined within a closed environment default 6, stamped metal housing components which, when welded together, form a completed gate valve assembly, while supporting, locating and guiding the valve body assembly within the closed environment with minimal contact with the stamped metal housing components.

  • Patent number: 4972582
Abstract: Blades for cutting and stripping insulated electrical conductors have alignment references thereon for aiding the set-up and adjustment of the blades. The alignment references comprise corners across the longitudinal edges of the blades. Each corner is formed by the intersection of the longitudinal edge and a first leg that is machined into the longitudinal edge and extends toward the blade interior. A second leg extends between the first leg and the longitudinal edge to create a generally V-shaped notch in the blade longitudinal edge. The first leg preferably intersects the longitudinal edge at a right angle to provide a sharp corner line. The second leg preferably intersects the longitudinal edge at an angle of less than about 45 degrees, thereby producing a rather blunt corner and permitting easy differentiation between the two corners.

The flat cushioning material is cut so as to have a semicircular rear portion, a rectangular central portion extending at an acute angle from the rear portion, and a tapering end portion extending from the central portion. The insert generally has an adhesive back for placement in a high heel shoe. When the insert is placed in the shoe, the adhesive side of the rear portion is pressed into place in the heel area of the shoe, and the adhesive side of the tapering end portion is pressed against the inward side of the shoe so that the insert has an overall twisted configuration. The twisted configuration provides a ridge for support of a wearer's longitudinal arch and helps prevent sliding and toe pinch.

  • Patent number: 4972613
Abstract: A high top athletic shoe has partial quarters terminating in spaced relationship to each other, in combination with a rear subassembly with inner and outer portions. The inner portion includes a substantially rigid lower counter portion and a soft, flexible Y-shaped upper rear portion forming a tendon engager, integral with but movable relative to the lower portion for flexing thereof between a forward foot-engaging position and a rearward foot entry position. The outer portion comprises a relatively rigid, U-support element pivotally mounted on both sides of the shoe, and movable between a lowered position beneath the counterpoint of the foot and spaced rearwardly of the inner portion, and an upper position snugly engaging the inner portion being retained in this latter condition by a connectable tensile strap extending around the U-support at the rear of the shoe.

  • Patent number: 4972614
Abstract: A sign carrying device. A cylindrical base section vertically mounted in a footing has an upper cylindrical section extending upwardly therefrom. A first collar extends radially outwardly between the sections for rotatably receiving a sign carrying support structure. The support structure is formed from two (2) frame members connected together by horizontal supports, one of which is connected to a second collar which is rotatably received on the first collar by providing bearings therebetween. A pulley rotatably mounted in the upper cylindrical section and dual pulleys mounted on a brace extending from the upper cylindrical section have a cable threaded over and therethrough respectively. One end of the cable is rigidly attached to the sign carrying support structure and the other end is attached to a counterweight suspended inside the axially-aligned bores of the cylindrical base section and the upper cylindrical section.

  • Patent number: 4972615
Abstract: A sheet of book index tabs has a backing with a release coating and a plurality of index tabs on the backing sheet separated from each other by die-cut lines. Each index tab has a transparent film layer and transparent pressure sensitive adhesive which is temporarily attached to the release coating. Each tab has a centrally located, substantially opaque band of ink extending across the tab. Stripes of dark ink are printed along each edge of the band with each stripe being an equal distance from the adjacent edge of the tab. A score line on the bottom of the backing is centered opposite the center of the band of ink to facilitate creasing of the backing and index tab. The tab takes a permanent set along the crease and separates from the release coating along the set to facilitate peeling from the backing. Upon folding the index tab along the crease, the dark stripes are superimposed for placement along the edge of a document page as an aid to alignment.

  • Patent number: 4972617
Abstract: An automatic firearm of especially simple construction and easy maintainability, having an adjustable cyclic firing rate. The firearm has a receiver with an upper and lower portion. The upper portion defines a cavity in which a bolt assembly reciprocates. The reciprocation is maintained by a single compression spring in the cavity, and the length of the cavity, and compression of the spring, are adjustable to vary the cyclic firing rate. The firearm includes an especially simple trigger group arrangement. The lower receiver portion is structured to protect the trigger group. Also disclosed is an especially simple, yet practical ejector mechanism.

Abstract: A locking mechanism for a revolver that completely disables the weapon when in the locked position. The mechanism includes a set screw that is inserted in a small hole drilled in the side of the revolver side plate behind the trigger. The set screw has attached to it a small button such that when the mechanism is in a locked position, the button located on the screw acts as a hammer block and also acts to prevent the cylinder release bar from unlocking the cylinder. When the mechanism is in an unlocked position, the weapon functions as originally intended by the manufacturer.

  • Patent number: 4972622
Abstract: An alarm for indicating when a fish strikes bait at the end of a line associated with a fishing rod. The alarm includes a plastic housing defining a receptacle with a rim and opening through which the fishing rod is and a separate compartment where a sound generating unit is stored. A movable receptacle part is integrally hinged to the housing and in a rest position defines a part of the rim against which the rod is rested. The receptacle part is deflected outwardly to a strike position when the fish takes bait, but is otherwise restored to the rest position by the resilience of the plastic forming the hinge. The sound generating unit is mounted on a plastic carrier which has a pair of prominent terminals connected to a speaker drive circuit. A pair of conductive clip elements within the compartment serve both to retain the carrier in a releasable snap fit and to electrically contact the circuit through the carrier terminals.

  • Patent number: 4972624
Abstract: The assembly comprises a cable clamp that is connected directly to a fishing downrigger cable thereby making a semi-permanent connection that is affixed to the downrigger cable and the system weight. The clamp has a rigid control rod attached which has a series of blades strung along in series to attract attention of the fish. At various positions along the rigid control rod prior to the rearmost blade, a crosspiece with multiple connection vertical stabilizing units is positioned. This mechanism allows the fisherman to add to the unit as desired for their particular situation. The rigid control rod allows the fisherman to use oversized blades, if necessary. This design allows the fisherman to have the fishing line above the blades and have no fear of having tangled lines as the blade rod is kept rigid no matter what the situation is.
