  • Patent number: 5042730
Abstract: The invention pertains to the conversion of rotating disc type wood chippers into a multi-purpose shredding device. Such wood chippers are typically equipped with a power driven rotating disc fitted with chipping knives mounted to the disc feed side and adjacent passageways thereto leading to the opposite disc side to a secondary processing chamber for the further processing of materials therewithin. By including channeling members about the passageways which alter the aerodynamics and material flow patterns on the disc feed side, buoyant feed materials (e.g. paper, plastic, etc.) can now be effectively processed with such wood chippers. A grating member can be placed at the material discharge to control the particle size of the discharged materials. An enclosed system fitted with a cyclone and agriculture baler permits the shredded materials to be continuously converted to small bales.

  • Patent number: 5042765
Abstract: A self adjusting shim device has an elastic outer bladder formed of resilient material filled ith bouncing putty. The bouncing putty filler will deform slowly under the slightest force like a highly viscous liquid but will resist rapidly applied loads as if it were a solid. The shim device is placed between the bottom of an article, such as one or more legs of a piece of furniture, and the weight of the article supported on the shim device will, in a short time, cause the shim device(s) to deform and the article supported will assume a state of equilibrium, even if the legs are of unequal length. A sudden downward force applied to the supported article will create a compressive force on the resilient bladder causing the bouncing putty filler to become rigid and resist the downward force. When the downward force is lessened or removed, the bladder tends to return to its original shape.

  • Patent number: 5042767
Abstract: A pair of support members which clamp to an aerial cable and hold a tarp beneath the cable is disclosed. Since the support members couple to one another only through the tarp, they may be positioned at any distance from one another on the cable. The support members tightly clamp to the cable through a lashing strap and buckle arrangement. Each of the support members includes first and second spreader arms, which clamp to the tarp and position the edges of the tarp horizontally away from the cable. The support members hold the tarp in a "V" shape with the distance between the cable and the bottom of the "V" shape being adjustable through an axle assembly. Moreover, the axle assembly permits adjustment of spreader arm angles to vary the horizontal positioning of tarp edges. These numerous adjustable features permit the apparatus to be oriented for a wide variety of single and multiple cable configurations.
