  • Patent number: 5063794
Abstract: The present invention is an improved key for an in-line transmission. The key is located within a channel in the shift shaft and selectively engages keyways of gears disposed about the shift shaft. A shift fork and collar axially move the key within the shift shaft by engaging and moving the base of the key. The key includes a shoulder which connects the head and the shank portion of the key, with the shoulder being thicker than the shank to cause more of the key to be supported within the shift shaft channel and thereby the key is better able to withstand the shearing forces which result from the rotational coupling of the shift shaft and the gears. The shoulder includes the portion of the key which extends out of the channel to the keyway and connects with the head, and which also faces the same direction as the head.

  • Patent number: 5063807
Abstract: The invention pertains to a saw, in particular to a jig saw or scroll saw, with a saw blade which is driven by a force acting on a parallelogram of rods. A saw blade is attached to a connecting shank which joins two longitudinal side arms. The two longitudinal side arms are designed to move in their longitudinal direction. On at least one of the two longitudinal side arms a guide element in the form of, for example, a turning roller, is positively guided against a stationary guide surface which is at an angle, preferablye an acute angle, to the connecting shank. As a result of this positive guidance, the backward movement of the saw blade from the cut edge during the return stroke is reduced to a desired value. Thus a jig saw of small size, but with a large stroke, can be realized in which the saw blade is guided parallel to the cut edge at all times but is moved back by a small amount from the cut edge during the return stroke.

  • Patent number: 5063809
Abstract: An improved ball screw assembly is disclosed in which a return tube has a pair of minor legs which enter into two ends of the internal helical groove within a nut to return ball bearings between the two ends. Apertures are formed within the nut such that the return tube can be mounted as a one-piece item by moving it perpendicular to the central axis of the screw into the two apertures. The apertures are formed by removing all material which would normally be radially outward of the minor legs, and would prevent mounting of the return tube by moving it perpendicular to the axis of the screw. Due to this improved arrangement between the return tube and the nut, a one-piece return tube can be utilized which contacts the end of the helical groove at an angle parallel to the helix angle and tangent to the helical groove at the ends.

  • Patent number: 5063836
Abstract: A coffee making machine of the type adapted to be connected to a mains water supply is provided with a reservoir having a level sensor controlling the water refill valve to the reservoir, and a heating element which is thermostatically controlled, the refill valve and the thermostat both being controlled by a single modular replaceable solid state circuit board. The level sensor functions to cause refill of the reservoir to the appropriate level for subsequent brewing of a full pot of coffee, irrespective of the mains water pressure and the route by which water may previously have been removed from the reservoir. The electronically controlled thermostat allows only small drops in temperature, e.g. 3.degree. F., before operating to reheat the water in the reservoir. The water can accordingly be stored at closer to the boiling point and delivered to contact coffee for brewing purposes at temperatures of not less than 200.degree. F.

  • Patent number: 5063837
Abstract: A coffee maker or another beverage brewing apparatus wherein a holder for flavoring agent or a filter in the holder has one or more valve-controlled outlets for gravitational descent of freshly brewed beverage into an open-top vessel beneath the holder. The top of the vessel has a rim and a spout which extends to a level below the rim. In order to automatically open the valve which controls the outlet or outlets, the holder or the housing of the apparatus carries a movable actuator which is engaged by the rim, irrespective of the orientation of the spout, and opens the valve as soon as the open top of the vessel is properly positioned beneath the outlet or outlets. The actuator has a rim-engaging follower the effective length of which in the circumferential direction of the open top of the vessel at least equals but normally exceeds the width of the spout. This ensures that the follower is engaged by the rim in any selected orientation of the vessel.

Abstract: In a reciprocating piston press where a compressing piston operates in a nonuniform manner, the piston cooperates with conveyor prongs which move material into the path of the piston. The conveyor prongs are guided by a crank and rocker linkage mechanism by way of elliptical gear wheels for movement around a kidney-shaped orbit. The prongs perform a more rapid motion in the region of a fill opening for charging material into a compaction channel containing the compressing piston. The reciprocating piston press is, in particular, employed for compacting cardboard waste in combination with a feeder space which opens into the compaction channel for charging cardboard waste into the channel. The feeder space and piston press are located in a stationary housing.
