Abstract: The invention is directed to a portable handheld tool such as a brushcutter which includes a work tool assembly and a drive motor connected by a drive shaft. The drive shaft is surrounded by a protective tube and is centrally held therein by means of a bearing sleeve unit. The bearing sleeve unit braces itself against the inner peripheral wall surface of the protective tube via outwardly extending support ribs. The bearing sleeve unit defines a bearing bore for holding and guiding the drive shaft within the protective tube. The bearing bore and the drive shaft conjointly define an annular bearing play gap therebetween whereby frictional heat generated in the bearing sleeve unit is reduced while vibrations of the drive shaft are developed and imparted to the bearing sleeve unit. The support ribs are configured so as to be resilient in the radial direction to attenuate the vibrations imparted to the bearing sleeve unit.

Abstract: A pizza fork is arranged for the ease of cutting and spearing of food items, wherein the pizza fork includes an elongate handle integrally mounting a head at a forward distal end of the handle. The head includes a plurality of spaced tines, wherein the outer tines each include an outer cutting edge arranged in a parallel relationship relative to themselves and the tines. A modification of the invention includes the handle slidably mounting a spatula plate to permit lifting of food components such as pizza subsequent to a cutting procedure.

Abstract: A utility knife switchable between a non-rotatable mode for cutting a straight line and a rotatable mode for cutting a curved line includes a rod which engages to a blade at one end and the other end being rotatably positioned against a bearing device thereby providing the blade with a rotation axle for cutting a curve. A switching button device is installed above the limiting device for forcing the rod and the blade to work in a non-rotatable mode or a rotatable mode.

Abstract: I have invented a new and novel "holder" to hold individual threadwire gauges used to measure the thread pitch of screws and bolts. The holder takes full advantage of the properties of new materials used in the holder, including magnets, rubber and synthetic plastics. The holder will accomodate and hold in place without the use of hands on the threadwires, the wire-sets used to measure the thread pitch using the three wire method and a micrometer.

Abstract: An electronic compass can store azimuth data of points to be passed by a user in a plurality of registers, and the stored azimuth data are sequentially displayed on a display device every time an external operation switch is operated. The compass includes a magnetic sensor for detecting a geomagnetism, thereby obtaining north azimuth data on the earth. The north azimuth data obtained by the magentic sensor is displayed simultaneously with the stored azimuth data. Therefore, the user can know at each point a direction to go on the basis of the two displayed azimuth data, i.e., the stored azimuth data, and the north azimuth data on the earth.

  • Patent number: 5175937
Abstract: A bow tuning gauge has an elongated body and two sets of horizontal and vertical gauges attached thereto at either end. The gauge, when attached to an archery bow, enables the user to position an arrow shaft at a precise perpendicular state in relation to the bow. An arrow shaft is placed in two metal clips at the end of the horizontal gauges, which in turn are positioned by the vertical gauges. The arrow shaft is moved left and right until the arrow shaft is in proper alignment with the bow string (center shot). The vertical gauges are used to align the arrow shaft vertically across the tune hole. Once proper horizontal and vertical positions are found, the arrow shaft is slid back to bow string and the bow string may then be nocked. After center shot has been located, an arrow rest can be bolted on the bow in the optimum position, and the bow can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 5175938
Abstract: Method and apparatus for determining present machining height during machining of a workpiece includes an analog resistive sensor, a discrete resistive sensor and a resistive integrity sensor. Analog sensor preferably has a plurality of resistive elements. Discrete sensor includes contact break points on resistive legs, each leg having a different resistive value to create a step-wise incremental change in resistance of discrete sensor as contacts are lapped away. Integrity sensor has resistive value in fixed relation to resistive value of discrete sensor such that ratio is indicative of integrity before machining. Invention enables use of electronic lapping guide with electrically conductive lap without shorting out. Discrete sensor value used to determine location of rear plane of analog sensor and analog sensor value used to confirm identity of break point as part of method for determining current lapping height.

Abstract: A device for accurately setting the cutting height of a grass mower, especially a golf green mower in the field is described. A semi-rigid bar is placed between the rear fixed roller and the front adjustable roller of the mower and locked into place with a height adjusting screw which is set to a selected height-of-cut and releasably attached to the bed knife intermediate the front and rear rollers. A rigid bar is secured at the rear-end of the semi rigid bar and extends forwardly past the front roller. A spring loaded dial indicator is mounted at the forward end of the rigid bar and contacts the semi rigid bar so as to provide a reading of deflection of the semi rigid bar as the front roller is adjusted.
