  • Patent number: 5181293
Abstract: A wiper system, which is used especially for motor vehicles and in which the pendulum-motion of at least one wiper blade is overlapped by a motion of the wiper blade in its longitudinal direction. The wiper blade can be moved by means of a gearing that can be driven via a stroking shaft coaxially running to the wiper shaft. The stroking shaft is connected to a coupler via a stroking swivelling lever, which coupler is linked to an intermediate lever that can swivellably be driven around a fixed axis by the drive motor. In order to be able to wipe a big part of the windshield of a motor vehicle, the coupler passes a dead center when the intermediate lever is swivelling from the one reversing position to the other, in which dead center the coupler reverses the direction of its motion.

  • Patent number: 5181331
Abstract: A shoe provided with a central closing device, especially a sport, leisure or rehabilitation shoe, with an upper formed of flexible upper materials, and with an instep shield which covers the instep. The instep shield is designed so that it can be fastened to the side parts of the shoe on both sides of the shoe upper, in a manner making it possible to tighten the instep shield and the side parts of the shoe upper over the entire closing area in a simple way and with as uniform a closing or tightening force as possible to guarantee as uniform a pressure distribution as possible along the entire throat area of the shoe. This is achieved by the instep shield being connected, on each side of its end that is directed toward a toe of the upper, to a closing flap made of a springy elastic material, with each closing flap being connected to a respective side part of the upper and running along the length of the instep shield.

  • Patent number: 5181334
Abstract: The display apparatus has an endless drive member wound on drive sprockets and driven sprockets so that the drive member travels along a circulating travel path. An array of display plates is attached to a specified region of the endless drive member in such a manner that each of the display plates can be swiveled. First, when the display plates are located at the front part of the path, an advertising sign on their front surfaces is shown. As the display plates move, driven by the drive member, and pass the left end of the circulating path, they are guided by a first guide member in such a way that they maintain the same attitude. When they enter the rear part of the circulating path, an unobstructed view of an advertising sign on a stationary display board installed inside the endless drive member is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5181338
Abstract: A bird deterrent device and method which combines the deterrence of an inanimate bird deterrent device with the erratic behavior of a movable deterrant device without injury to the brids or the use of sharp and portions. The present invention uses a multiplicity of projecting members which radiate out from a flange and base that is secured to a bird perching area. The projecting members may be aligned in a coplanar fashion with the flange so as to be suited to deter birds from perching on narrow building ledges or the wires may extend outward in different planes. The projecting members are of sufficient length so as to be visibly disturbed by an available draft of air but are not strong enough to support the weight of a perching bird. The physical presence of the device and the erratic independent movement of the projecting members, with the resulting physical obstruction so created, deter birds from perching at or near the device.
