  • Patent number: 5187829
Abstract: The handle of the toothbrush is in the general form of an animal (e.g., a quadriped) having its body supported when not in use in a generally horizontal position. The handle is manually encircled and grasped by the hand with the thumb extending under and around the lower part of the body and with the palm and fingers extending over and around the upper part of the body portion as in a fist. To facilitate such grasping by small children or manually impared persons, the head/neck portion or the front leg portion of the animal (or both) are positioned to be adjacent to the thumb and forefinger side of the hand of the user, and the rear leg portion and an optional tail portion of the animal are positioned to be adjacent to the fourth finger side of the hand of the user. The brush head of the toothbrush extends from an end of the handle. When the brush is not in use, it is adapted to rest on a flat surface with the bristles spaced from such surface.

  • Patent number: 5187831
Abstract: A parts washer for cleaning individual parts is disclosed having a compartmentalized washing enclosure housing individual washing and drying chamber which are separated by slideable partitions which open to admit parts, close to isolate parts during a particular washing operation, and open to release parts to a subsequent chamber. The partitions are operated in a predetermined sequence by pivoting arms which are acted on by positive motion cams mounted on a motor driven camshaft. The wash chambers have nozzles connected to a cleaning medium supply for directing cleaner such as hot water or steam onto the part to be cleaned in a predetermined pattern for optimized cleaning and, similarly, the drying chambers utilize nozzles connected to a source of dried, compressed air to dry the heated parts. A feed track moves the parts to be cleaned from the parts source, such as a manufacturing machine, to and through the parts washer.

  • Patent number: 5187839
Abstract: A suspender loop buckle which has a latch for adjustment of the size of the loop and a clamp for secure attachment of the suspender strap to the buckle. The latch and clamp mechanisms both consist of a pivoting plate attached to the frame of the buckle and operate under similar principles. In the open position a plate is perpendicular to the frame and the strap can move freely between the plate and the frame. In the closed position a plate is parallel to frame and the strap is secured by pressure against a serrated flange. Whereas the latch can be easily opened by pressure on the edge of the latch in the direction of the frame, the clamp cannot be opened in this manner. The strap can be quickly and easily secured to the buckle without the use of special tools. The strap can also be easily disengaged from the buckle.

  • Patent number: 5187857
Abstract: The invention provides a novel apparatus for manufacturing electronic parts each incorporating a plurality of lead wires fully wrapped with conductive foil like noise filters for example. A turn table is intermittently shifted from the first work station to the seventh work station in the state in which an individual-unit lead-wire member is retained by a holding unit on the turn table. A predetermined lead wire is folded by respective work stations, whereas the remaining lead wires are adhered with conductive foil tapes via spot-welding process, and then these lead wires are fully wrapped with conductive foil tapes. Next, the predetermined lead wire is restored to the initial posture, and then all the lead wires are fully wrapped with insulation tapes. In this way, all the lead wires are properly processed so that they can be integrated in perfect alignment with constant pitches.

An opening with a guide groove for insertion of a disengaging tool opens to the front. The disengaging tool for disengaging a terminal from a connector is provided with a rod member for insertion into the opening. The rod member has a guide portion formed on a lateral side, extending along an axis of the stick body to guide the disengaging tool to a inner part of the connector when the rod member is inserted into the opening. A slope portion is formed on the tip of the stick body to contact the elastic engaging arm, pressing the elastic engaging arm, and bending the elastic engaging arm to disengage the elastic engaging arm from the terminal.

Abstract: A method of making a thermal barrier component includes the steps of fabricating a first heat-conductive part having spaced transverse first and second projections, fabricating a second heat-conductive part having a transverse flange, moving the heat conductive parts toward each other so that the flange moves into the region between the projections, so that retaining portions on the flange end projections move into engagement and yieldably resist movement of the heat-conductive parts away from each other, and so that outer ends of the projections firmly engage respective surface portions on the second heat-conductive part, thereafter applying to the heat-conductive parts a thermal barrier material which extends between and is fixedly coupled to the heat-conductive parts, and thereafter machining away a central portion of each of the projections.

  • Patent number: 5187872
Abstract: In a magnetic compass of the kind in which a sensor derives coordinates of a sensed magnetic field, automatic correction of hard-iron and soft-iron distortions is achieved by storing a set of measured values of the magnitude of the sensed magnetic field for different discrete directions of the alignment axis of the compass relative to an estimated origin. If measured values have been accumulated for more than a predetermined number, but not all, possible directions, values are interpolated for the remaining directions to provide a set of measured and interpolated values defining a substantially elliptical locus of the sensed magnetic field vector (E.sub.T.) New coordinates for the estimated origin are derived and the measured values adjusted to take account of changes in the estimated origin. The heading is corrected for displacement of the origin due to hard-iron effect and for ellipticity of the locus due to soft-iron effects.

  • Patent number: 5187874
Abstract: A coordinate measuring machine capable of selectively setting the origin of measurement by origin point blocks each of which are provided on the base plate of the coordinate measuring machine. In a condition where dust becomes attached to the origin point block, the origin of measurement is missed and the accuracy of the measurement is therefore unreliable. The machine in this invention is arranged to employ cover devices (40A, 40B, 80) to enclose origin point blocks (50A, 50B, 70) respectively and to occasionally expose a portion thereof by an opening and closing motion. That is, only when setting the origin of measurement is the cover opened. This prevents the origin point block from collecting dust thereon suspended in the air. In this end, the origin of measurement can be set precisely to execute an accurate measurement of the object to be measured.

Abstract: A flush pin gauge for checking the position of a center pin in a coaxial connector includes a housing, a fitting on one end of the housing for attaching to a coaxial connector, and a gauge pin slidingly restrained within the housing for engaging the center pin of the coaxial connector. When the gauge is inserted over the conductor spring within the coaxial connector, the gauge pin engages the center pin and causes it to be moved and causes it to be moved longitudinally of the housing. At an opposite end of the housing, there is provided a gauging apparatus which determines from the position of an end of the gauge pin extending through the housing the depth of the pin below the top of the conductor spring. The gauging apparatus comprises a marker which has a width corresponding to the tolerance allowed for the depth of the center pin so that if the end of the gauge pin falls within the marker width, the conductor is acceptable.
