Abstract: Poinsettia `Lilo White` is a new cultivar, distinguished by creamy white bracts and intense dark green foliage with self-branching characteristics. `Lilo White` is a color sport of the dark red bracted `Lilo` (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 6694) with the same flowering response and cultural requirements. The new plant produces a very desirable branched flowering pot plant. The new plant is resistant to epinasty after being confined to shipping containers and recovers rapidly if the plant does become epinastic. The post-production foliage and bract retention is excellent even under low light intensities in the consumer's home.
Abstract: A new and distinct anthurium cultivar named Kalapana is characterized by its red-green, broad heart-shaped spathe carried above the foliage on a long, erect peduncle. The slightly reclining spadix is yellow to orange, turning white with maturity. Kalapana is resistant to anthracnose (spadix rot) and is tolerant to the systemic phase of bacterial blight.

Abstract: Packaging film product for the packaging of paper rolls or equivalent into a consumer package provided with a handle. The packaging film product consists of a web-like film (1) wherein the edge borders (1a, 1b) of the film are folded towards each other over the middle portion of the film remaining between them, substantially over equal distances so that the edge borders cover a substantial part of the middle portion that remains in between. At one edge of the web folded in this way, a longitudinally handle strip (2) has been produced by joining together the film layers that are placed one above the other, and grasping openings (3) or opening blanks have also been made into the handle strip with a mutual spacing corresponding to the spacing of the package units.
Abstract: A dispensing nozzle comprising a plate overlying a bore defined through a countertop for the passage of bags therethrough from a subjacent storage position. The plate defines an elongate zig-zag slot for the restrictive movement of bags therethrough upon a manual pulling of a leading bag. Each manually pulled leading bag is automatically severed from a following bag secured thereto along a line of severance by slot-developed resistance. Introduction of the forwardmost bag of a bag package is facilitated by an enlarged opening laterally of one side of the slot and communicated with the slot through a relatively narrower neck portion. The nozzle may include a tubular sleeve receivable in the countertop bore, with the plate secured to or integrally formed with the sleeve across one end thereof.
Abstract: An adapter, mounted on the cylindrical sidewall of the vacuum cleaner tank, provides a receptacle for a rigid connector on which a flexible vacuum hose is sealingly mounted. The leading edge of the connector insert is beveled. A corresponding beveled surface is formed on the inner wall of the receptacle to engage and seal with the beveled leading edge of the connector to form a continuous, peripheral seal immediately adjacent to the wall of the tank so that when the vacuum motor is turned on, a positive force is generated to increase the effectiveness of the seal.

Abstract: Sperm are encapsulated in a nontoxic polymer which is freely flowing at body temperature and a gel or solid at temperatures of storage and transfer. On delivery to the reproductive tract, the polymer microcapsule liquifies and the sperm are released.
Abstract: An intralumenal graft for the repair of damaged or weakened sections of the vascular system. The graft consists of a semi-rigid, resilient tube made of a material suitable for long-term residence inside a vessel. The tube has a relaxed, smaller diameter and is expandable to a larger diameter which is maintained by a retaining ledge or teeth on the inside of the graft. Repair of a vessel is attained by insertion of the graft in its relaxed condition into the vessel at a site which may be remote from the damaged section. The graft is positioned and expanded to its larger diameter by a balloon catheter. Once expanded, the graft is retained in position by friction with the inner wall of the vessel.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for absorbing liquid and/or stopping cut hair from running down a neck of a person when that person's hair is washed and/or cut. The apparatus comprises: a length of cloth or other liquid absorbent material which serves as an adjustable, removable collar, choker, or neck band that may be secured to the neck of the person; and means for fastening and securing respective ends of the choker or neck band around the neck of the person to provide an adequately close but comfortable fit. A relatively large protective cape may then be placed over the choker or neck band. The apparatus is reusable, and serves as a medium into which lengths of cut hair may be pierced, impaled, or imbedded, and thereby captured.
Abstract: A dual visor operating mechanism in which respective locks disposed between inner and outer visor arm hubs and respective right and left arbors normally prevent movement of the visors in response to force applied directly thereto and in which respective inner and outer visor actuators sequentially release their associated brakes and then move the visors therewith. Brakes prevent movement of the visors after release of the associated lock and before the corresponding visor moves with the actuator.
Abstract: A toilet flushing apparatus characterized by an inherently leakproof syphon discharge through a toilet flush tube, control being of two forms (1) a pre-primed syphon wherein both the suction leg and the discharge leg are filled with water, and (2) a jet primed syphon wherein the suction leg is filled with supply tank water and the discharge leg is dry and with a floating flush valve for complete discharge of primer water followed by immediate closure to ensure continued syphoning, there being a primer tank automatically refilled with the rise of float controlled supply tank water; only primer tank water may be lost.
Abstract: A commode flush valve for providing short and adjustable flush cycles. The flush valve includes a valve seat around the upper end of a discharge pipe for a tank, and a body pivoted to it. The body has a peripheral valve seal to bear against the valve seat to close the flush valve. A cup beneath the valve seal has a perforation near its top for exit of air, and an opening at its bottom to enable water to flow therethrough. A removable insert is fitted in this opening with an orifice sized to regulate the rate of flow water therethrough, and perforations to enable substantially all water to drain from the cup where the valve seal rests on the valve seat.
Abstract: An automatic water shut-off circuit for a flushing toilet tank having a main tank replenishment valve, a main tank flushing or base valve, and a main tank float for operably controlling the flow of water through the main valve dependent upon the level of water in the tank comprising a secondary float operatively associated with the main float and a secondary water supply circuit operative to cause said secondary float to raise the main float in the tank in the presence of a leaking condition in the main flushing valve of the tank. The secondary supply circuit includes a branch conduit connected between the main replenishment valve and the secondary float, a two-position valve disposed in the branch conduit, and a third float responsive to said leaking condition to actuate said two-position valve to supply water through said branch conduit thereby to actuate said secondary float and turn off said main valve.
