  • Patent number: 5279158
Abstract: A liquid level measuring system for the steam drum of a steam generator employs a plurality of bubblers spaced along the length of the drum to obtain a level profile. The steam pressure to the bubblers is supplied by tubes connected to the steam/water inlet space which has a pressure significantly higher than the steam space in the drum. Horizontal pressure taps on each bubbler transmit the pressure to pressure cells external to the drum where the bubbler pressure is compared to the pressure in the steam space. These reading can then be converted to liquid level readings.

  • Patent number: 5279165
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and a device to measure wind-related stresses in a rotating system. It is based on the studies made by the Applicant which have shown that the power given by the motors driving the system rotationally are a function of these stresses. A measurement of the power, or of any quantity characteristic of this power (such as current, cos.phi. pressure, etc.) therefore enables a simple measurement of the wind-related stresses. If we set a limit value of power (or of a characteristic quantity) related to the limit velocity of the wind beyond which the forces to which the system is subjected are excessive, it becomes easy, by way of a comparison, to obtain a condition for the operation of the motors. The disclosure can also be used, in systems carrying out an angle measurement, to make a correction of this measurement.

  • Patent number: 5279172
Abstract: A fluid pressure-operated shift actuator (11) is provided of the type defining a series of fluid pressure chambers (69, 71, 91, and 95). The actuator is operable to move a shift finger (19) to any one of four shift rails (1,2,3,4) by actuating various combinations of solenoids (29,31,33). One of the fluid pressure chambers (95) provides a constant bias of the shift finger (19) toward the first shift rail (1). Actuation of the second and third pressure chambers (71,91) results in selection of the third shift rail, because pressurization of the third pressure chamber (91) limits the rightward movement of the crank arrangement (37) which directly controls position of the shift finger (19).

  • Patent number: 5279201
Abstract: A cartridge is made up of a synthetic resin case member and a synthetic resin lid. The case member contains a first receiving chamber for receiving an igniter charge and a second receiving chamber for the accommodation of a propellant charge. A synthetic resin ignition pin flexibly connected to the lid extends into the first receiving chamber. Upon the exertion of pressure by a striker on the rear end of the ignition pin, the pin is advanced further into the first receiving chamber, a pointed forward percussion end of this ignition pin acting on the igniter charge to ignite the charge. The igniter charge is accommodated in funnel shape in a conical depression of the first receiving chamber. The percussion end of the ignition pin, extending into the igniter charge, upon displacement, causes friction in the igniter charge material and thus generates frictional heat therein.
