  • Patent number: 5357698
Abstract: An apparatus for clearing snow and other particulate material comprises one or a pair of arms mounted for rotation within the housing of a conventional rotary lawnmower or equivalent, as a substitute for the conventional grass-cutting blade. This enables the lawnmower to be used for clearing snow during the winter, when it cannot be used for cutting grass. The rotatable arm comprises an elongated blade member having upper and lower vanes extending upwardly and downwardly respectively from the blade member. The lower vanes act as knives to cut the snow or material to facilitate removal. The lower vanes are inclined obliquely to the blade axis so as to direct material that is below the blade member inwardly towards the axis of rotation. The upper vanes are inclined obliquely to a blade axis extending radially outwardly from the axis of rotation to direct material above the blade outwardly through a discharge opening of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5357704
Abstract: A gun lock including a hardened steel rod (14) threaded at each end, the threaded ends respectively engaging a cartridge shaped plug (27) and a rotatable tumbler lock (24). The lock (24) is fixed within a sleeve body (21) adapted to fit snugly around a barrel end (12) of a gun to be locked. The cartridge plug (27) fits snugly within the firing chamber (11) of the gun, in the same manner as a cartridge adapted to be fired within the gun. With the cartridge plug (27) within the firing chamber (11), and with the rod (14) threadedly engaged in the lock (24) the rod (14) can be inserted down the bore (13) of the gun and threadedly the cartridge plug (27) by rotating a mating key engaged in the lock (24), until the device is snug. Removal of the key results in securing the gun lock within the gun. A slot (26) within the sleeve body (21) engages an aiming sight ( 25) of the gun so as to prevent rotation of the sleeve (21).

  • Patent number: 5357705
Abstract: An adjustable gun cleaning device which protects the firing pin of the gun from damage during cleaning. The invention has a double-ended cleaning rod with a cylindrical wire brush on one end and an eye loop for holding a cloth swab on the other end. In between the two ends of the rod is mounted a cylindrical handle which slides over the cleaning rod. A thumb screw on the handle can be used to lock the handle in different positions along the cleaning rod. The movable handle serves as an adjustable shoulder stop to limit the forward motion of the cleaning rod during gun cleaning. Because it is adjustable, the handle can be repositioned for use as a safety stop with different length gun barrels. The end of the handle nearest the wire brush is hollowed out to form a cylindrical cavity so that it can also serve as a protective storage cover for the wire brush when not in use.

  • Patent number: 5357733
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for filling successive pouches which are interconnected in a continuous web by a tubular top portion. Material is dispensed into the pouches by an elongated filling pipe and a mass flow meter monitors the amount of material dispensed through the filling pipe. The rate at which the web is conveyed along the filling pipe is controlled in response to the measured mass flow of the material whereby the amount of material dispensed into each pouch is accurately controlled.

  • Patent number: 5357734
Abstract: Packages consisting of two part packs are in increasing demand as so-called cigarette sticks, because consumers want "half sticks", that is to say part packs having a smaller number of cigarette packs. The part packs are produced from a common one-piece blank which is severed before the package is put on sale, so that part packs formed from two part blanks are obtained. These are connected to one another by means of severable connecting members, especially adhesive strips. The mechanical high-performance production of such packages composed of two part packs is carried out in a folding turret. A one-piece blank is introduced into pockets of the folding turret and almost ready-folded. The groups of cigarette packs are then pushed via open sides into the part packs within the pockets.

Abstract: The invention relates to a mower comprising first and second processing rollers, drive elements that are used to drive one of the first and second processing rollers and transmission elements that transmit the movement of rotation from one of the processing rollers to the other. The transmission elements are installed in a housing and the housing comprises a first part and a second part, connected to one another by a joint with a geometric axis directed at least approximately parallel to the axes of rotation of the processing rollers. Each of the parts of the housing is, in addition, mounted to pivot at least approximately around the axis of rotation of the corresponding processing roller.

  • Patent number: 5357742
Abstract: The hot core engine compartment of a turbojet engine is cooled by the metered flow of cooling air exhausted through a laminar flow nacelle system. This arrangement reduces the need for extracting bypass ram air from the engine performance cycle for cooling purposes and thereby improves specific fuel consumption and engine efficiency. A turbocompressor pump driven by bleed air from the core engine compressor draws cooling air through the laminar flow nacelle system and pumps the air into a manifold surrounding the core engine.
