  • Patent number: 5396688
Abstract: Denim fabric is made from novelty cotton yarn having irregularly spaced irregularities (e.g. slubs) about one-half inch to two inches in length. The cotton novelty yarn is made by separating cotton sliver into cotton fibers, and acting on the cotton fibers with a negative wire combing roll, and then twisting the cotton fibers into the cotton novelty yarn. The negative wire combing roll has a tooth angle of about -0.01.degree. to -15.degree.. The novelty cotton yarn is made into a warp of about 54-100 (e.g. 54-78) ends per inch, and is ring dyed so that the core of the yarn remains white. The warp is woven with a filling yarn to produce a denim fabric with a weight of about 5 oz.-17 oz. per sq. yd. having the weave and yarn size selected so that a tight construction is provided which highlights the slubs. The fabric is subjected to surface abrasion to remove the surface of dye on the slubs to show a lighter slub than body of the fabric.

  • Patent number: 5396689
Abstract: A process for obtaining a multilayer composite textile structure containing nonwoven fibrous sheets (2, 3) between which is incorporated a reinforcing structure consisting of continuous yarns or filaments (5), the various constituents being bonded together by mutual entanglement of the fibers of the sheets. According to the invention, two nonwoven sheets (2, 3) are produced in which the elementary fibers are arranged preferentially in the length direction. Between these two sheets (2, 3) there is incorporated a sheet (4) of weft yarns (5) which are arranged transversely, at a distance from each other. The sheet (4) of weft yarns is produced immediately upstream of the line of junction (6) between the two nonwoven sheets (2, 3), and downstream of this zone of junction (6) the composite formed is subjected to the action of a mechanical treatment which makes it possible to implant the fibers of one sheet (2) within the other sheet (3) (and optionally vice versa). The homogeneous composite is then reeled up.

Bonding members (42) couple appropriate bonding pads (16) with corresponding leads (26), first and second power buses (22) and (24), and lead finger (28). In this manner, the pin out of modular electronic component (10) may be altered by incorporating appropriate lead fingers (28) without changing the sequence of bonding pads (16).

  • Patent number: 5396702
Abstract: Solder bumps are electrodeposited onto a substrate with carefully controlled heights by forming patterned conductors on an substrate, depositing and patterning a layer of material, such as titanium that is easily oxidized, and electrodepositing the solder bumps. The solder does not deposit on the titanium. Solder bumps of uniform height are obtained because the titanium layer acts as part of the electrical circuit during electrodeposition.

Abstract: A portable, circular saw is disclosed. It includes a saw blade selectively rotatable about an axis of rotation to a define a working plane normal to such axis of rotation. The saw also includes an arcuate outer guard fixedly mounted about one side of the blade, and an inner guard having a central opening concentric of the axis of rotation. The purpose of the central opening is to permit the inner guard to be rotatably mounted about an opposite side of the blade. Also attached to the inner guard is a bulbous member that includes a leading edge that is adjacent to the cutting path of blade vis-a-vis a wooden member. Such wooden member generates a force on the inner guard as the former makes contact therewith and wherein the inner guard undergoes rotation about the axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 5396708
Abstract: A self-centering bore arbor device is disclosed which is self-aligning when inserted into the barrel of a shotgun and to which can be mounted a bore scope in a parallax relation with the central axis of the gun barrel. The self-centering property of this device is produced by a single source of pressure transmitted by a helical spring, inside a cylindrical bore collet tube, pressing against a circular 60 degree conical wedge inside the collet tube. This conical wedge distributes this pressure equally outward to the posterior free ends of three spring leaves displaced from each other about the posterior outer circumference of the collet tube by 120 degrees. Under this pressure the free ends of these spring leaves press outward against the inner wall of the gun barrel holding the collet tube in a proper concentric alignment with the gun barrel when the tapered muzzle plug forming the front end of the bore arbor is seated firmly against the inside of the gun barrel muzzle.

  • Patent number: 5396713
Abstract: A set of thin, flat stencil plates are stacked together face-to-face to form a three-dimensional article shaped as a decorative article. The stencil plates are held together in the three-dimensional form by a connecting member or by frictionally interlocking them to one another. The stencil plates each contain one or more apertures of unique shapes, so the plates can be disassembled from the three-dimensional form and used individually as separate stencils. The stencil plates have peripheral outer surfaces which cooperate to form the three-dimensional shape of a selected design figure when the plates are assembled in a particular sequence, and the article, in its assembled form, conceals the stencils contained inside the finished three-dimensional article. The invention has use as a puzzle in stacking together the stencil plates in the proper sequence, and the finished article can be an art object or a toy, for example.
