  • Patent number: 5404606
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for washing fibrous materials, skins, textile materials or the like using an aqueous, surfactant containing washing liquid obtained by adding washing agents to water. The minimal dispensed amounts as determined in subsequent washing tests are always obtained automatically, without the cleaning power and the cleaning efficiency being reduced to unacceptable levels. To this end, the surface tension of the washing liquid is measured during the washing process using a tensiometer. The actual washing agent concentration is derived from these measured values and an initial concentration is derived from the quantity of washing agent added. The detergency is calculated from this initial concentration. The addition of a washing agent is discontinued when no further increase occurs in the detergency. The invention also concerns a device for carrying out the process. The device has capillaries connected to constant gas flow sources and immersed to the same depth in the washing liquid.

  • Patent number: 5404607
Abstract: A self-propelled submersible suction cleaner as used to clean the surfaces of a swimming pool transfers a vibratory movement of an oscillator located within the flow path of a suction chamber for propulsion over the submerged surface of the pool. This vibratory movement of the oscillator is also converted to a unidirectional rotational motion used in conjunction with a gear train to cause the cleaner to rotate through at least a 90 angle allowing the cleaner to improve on the random path taken by the cleaner and to maneuver away from obstacles such as pool steps potentially stopping the cleaner movement. The cleaner includes a elevation limiter that keeps the suction chamber submerged as the cleaner climbs a vertical wall and attempts to rise above the water level in the pool. A pressure relief valve eliminates the concern over debris blocking the suction and causing potential damage to the pool pump and motor.

  • Patent number: 5404612
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner rotates a propeller fan by its suction force. The propeller fan rotates a rotor of a d.c. electric energy generator so as to generate electrical energy, and a d.c. voltage corresponding to the suction force is obtained by the generation. The vacuum cleaner employs the d.c. voltage as an operating voltage for a dust sensor and the peripheral circuitry thereof. The vacuum cleaner compares the d.c. voltage with a constant voltage output from a constant-voltage circuit by a comparing circuitry. The vacuum cleaner lowers the gain of an amplifying circuitry based upon a signal output from the comparing circuitry in correspondance to an increasing of the d.c. voltage obtained by the d.c. electric energy generator. The amplifying circuitry amplifies output of the dust sensor. The vacuum cleaner automatically determines detection sensitivity to be a proper sensitivity. The detection sensitivity is the sensitivity for detecting dust, based upon an output from the dust sensor.

This operation can be done either by a vacuum technique or by an electroplating process. If it is done by vacuum processing, all the three depositions can be done in one pumpdown. Since the sheet magnetic films are deposited, the demagnetizing field is very small, and a small orienting field is necessary unlike the large field required in the prior art.
